  1. Thanks, I was wondering if it was something like that.
  2. I tried a 3.5 Ghost Rocket and was really surprised how much better it is over the minus. The trigger is actually tripping the scale a 3 pounds now with a 4.5 striker spring.
  3. Interesting, what makes you think the motor problem was related to leaving the top off?
  4. I tried something that no one has mentioned. In addition to the Nu Finish I put a little Brasso in that I had laying around. Works pretty well in walnut overnight.
  5. What does the tip of the extractor look like? Any chips or breakage on the edge?
  6. I've heard some get good results with a shade over the chrono. I haven't had any issues with mine but I don't have that much time on it.
  7. I've been buying parts to eventually build a open Glock and ran across a deal I could not pass up on a G17 and 3 mags for $380. Well yesterday it arrived and I installed the Carver mount and slide ride on it and came up with a few questions. How necessary is lowering the ejection port for this mount combo? It seems the port is at the same height as the leg of the mount so you are not gaining much. For now I have the sight mount fully forward but will test moving it back for weight reasons when I can get it to the range. How are the chambers on the KKM barrels? I've about talked myself into a KKM barrel, for the additional accuracy it may get, except for the additional cost. I know for the Lone Wolf barrels I'd probably have to get them to throat it for 9mm major loads. Are the KKM barrels good to go out of the box for major loads? Lastly I am trying to figure out weather to go with a Carver 3 port or 4 port comp. Sounds like the 3 port may be a better all round combination? I'm planning on using it for Steel and major loads and the ability to function with factory or major loads seems to have me leaning this way.
  8. I have a batch of 230 grain 45 acp I loaded with Red Dot. First time I used a adjustable disk in the Lee measure. It did not meter well and I got a bunch of squibs. Ran a batch of 40 right after that with Bullseye and the same thing happened. Needless to say the adjustable disk went in the drawer. Look at it as a opportunity to step up to a better barrel without the guilt!
  9. I ordered a spares kit for my Carver modified CR Speed Holster I picked up used.In it there was a part I don't recognize, anyone have any ideas what this is for?
  10. Ohhh another piece of the puzzle, is that a stock Glock barrel? They were known to be slightly unsupported at the top of the ramp.
  11. Hmmm so 4.5 is slightly above max listed. I'm guessing similar loads used on the previous loadings. So loaded fairly hot maybe this time the tolerances stacked to be slightly higher with a little set back or something and high enough pressures to just start to see the small pin strike right before it start flowing back into the pin hole. I'm thinking weak brass and everything went the wrong way. You didn't say what it was fired in so hard to tell the likely hood of not being fully chambered.
  12. How many times was that case reloaded if you know? That makes me think the case stretched over several cycles till it got thin and failed.
  13. Try it first. If I remember right DK seems not to have issues but I'd want to hear that from the man himself. I'm running a LW striker and a 4.5 spring in a G22 on CCI primers so far without issues.
  14. I suspect you could probably do something with a battery pack, heat sink, and a Peltier module but would have to figure out where to mount it.
  15. I just got the Pro Chrono Digital a while back and love it.
  16. What about tossing the comp in a brass tumbler? Maybe a bit less aggressive than blasting?
  17. The angle of the sear surface is so critical that a slightly off angle could cause that. I'm not 100% on this but that could be a negative sear engagement. I've done a couple of triggers but by no means a 1911 expert. For some reason 1911's and I don't get along.
  18. Tolerances are so tight that a few thousandth could make a big difference. Contrary to modern building methodologies 1911's still have to be hand fit.
  19. Those inserts cant be a one size fits all, there are to many designs. They are made to be close. When I order a custom mold to cast bullets with I make sure to get the matching top punch for the lubrisizer from the mold manufacturer. Maybe there is someone out there that makes something like that for the Dillon sizing die?
  20. Probably the seating die does not fit the nose of the bullet exactly. Take out the insert and see how it fits, it's probably only making contact at that one point or it is tight there.
  21. I was going to ask if they worked with the factory slide stop but if they don't hold back the slide I guess that answered that question. I guess it depends on if that feature is important to you or not.
  22. IF it follows and depending on hammer design there is a possibility it could damage the sear surface.
  23. There is a small difference in the locations of the pin holes is the likeliest answer.
  24. My second is a Para Pro Custom, worked fine when I got it. After about 500 rounds it fails all the safety checks. I'm trying to decide what to do about it now.
  25. The only sure thing would be to shoot when it's cooler. Coming from the IT industry there is not much you can do with cooling in the tablet format as the limited space does not provide much airflow.
