  1. I would try a lighter spring (11 -14 #) spring with 1 or 2 buffs and cut some coils if you don't have any commander lenght springs (springs are cheap), if you can try this before the match all the better. (And this would give you an idea if the commander lenght would work for you also.)
  2. I use tall size T's or Polo shirts extra lenght so they stay in better. And as kimel says make sure it is tucked in as part of your on deck prep.
  3. Anyone remember the how many feet in a cubit?
  4. Thanks, I'll probably try that.
  5. Since I am the rangemaster and trainer I can make the call on what weapons our people get to pack. I shot the XD at an IALEFI training in San Diego a couple of years ago and I liked that gun a lot. I am thinking of getting the XD-40 for myself as an off duty weapon. My only worry about that gun is the availability of holsters for it. I will have to look into it. I will also look at the G19. Thanks <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There are a few made for this gun, Galco, Safariland Custom Fit, Fobus, and many of the custon shops will make one.
  6. Could be, didn't see any, but my eyes aren't what they used to be.
  7. Has anybody else seen this? I started having intermittent FTF, round jamming hard into the feedramp. (STI Edge .40 pistol, started when pistol was about 2 years old), throating checked, extractor checked, recoil spring replaced, mag springs and followers replaced, (and new tuned mags), problem still occurred, went on for several months. Was preparing for a match and checking the gun one day and noticed the mags had a lot of play (up/down). If I held the mag up in the base of the gun, I didn't have any FTF hand cycling. So I tried a new mag release that locked the mag in place, that seemed to work for a while then the FTF's were back but not as often. Borrowed a grip frame from another gun, no more failures to feed. Bought a new grip frame, haven’t seen the problem since (about 8 months now). PS: Tried a new set of frame grip screws on the old grip, and the problem still occurred.
  8. I would suggest a 10 - 12 # spring, you may also want to try commander lenght springs in that range, (shortening the goverment springs wears them out quicker), and you probalby don't want a goverment size spring with 2 buffs.
  9. If you look it this post http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?...topic=23805&hl= Beven Grams describes how to set these up for his followers. (Will pretty much work with any type follower)
  10. This may be a little late, however presuming that you tried all of the smithing (other than lightening slide and new grip). To speed up the slide you can also use a Sprinco and a commander lenght spring. (Lightening the slide would help also)
  11. The human eye will see green as being brighter as it is closer to the middle of the visible spectrum (for humans), that is why a green laser with the same power output as a red one appears brighter. Also as Matt Burkett said (paraphrased) is with a green fiber optic his eyes don't treat it like a dot sight. That said: what I have seen color choice is a personal preference. Some like Red, some like Green, some like Amber/yellow.
  12. I like the Para P16. Also the LDA has a sweet trigger from the factory.
  13. Have to echo j1b. Open guns recoil is normally more, the muzzle flip is less. My 9x25 has zero muzzle flip, but tears up my elbows over time (also muzzle blast is horrendous). Would suggest a full size (5") XD or Glock (9mm or minor 40), the smaller ones transfer more energy to the shooter.
  14. That is the very reason that I have instructed my wife to drive the speed limt to a well lit and populated place such as a gas station when/if an unmarked car attempts to stop her. I'd rather the police officer be a little miffed at her than not have her for him to be miffed at!!! dj <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Interesting, I'll have to let my wife know about that.
  15. 4th for the Pact MK IV. I've had mine for about 9 years, no problems at all... (Works good as timer also, I even use mine indoors for dryfire (just put a peice of vinyl tape over the speaker). )
  16. IMHO the trend of blame shifting started when we changed the way we raise children. Used to be that society as a whole disciplined the children. Now if you say something to someone else’s children the parent basically attacks you. So children learn that it is not their fault. This turns into frivolous lawsuits... It must be someone else’s fault. (Didn't come out eloquently, but I hope it makes sense.)
  17. Just talked to Beven... He has no springs, followers, base pads for Para. He said he hasn't made any new ones in over a year, and has not had time to finish up the design he is working on.
  18. That's funny. Now serious question would you let the friend shoot at your range?
  19. Universal Clays is very clean, and is a flake powder. Is several dollars cheaper a pound than V V320. Feels about the same in recoil, load is about the same volume. That said: I use whichever I find first when I am looking for the powder. (Won't use Titegroup in my .40 anymore though, too dirty)
  20. Going to a match with my son, gave him the belts and holsters to put in the truck. Loaded the rest of the gearin the truck. Get to the range and discover that he left the holsters and belts on the couch by the front door. (Teenagers...)
  21. You may also want to check that you are not getting any little bits of primer in the piring pin hole, this can cause this. (It is can also be a sign of excessive pressure)
  22. Don't the Super Comp, MCM, and 38 TJ have a thicker web on the brass also?
  23. I think the objection is all of the tricks smack of big brother.
  24. Wouldn't use One-Shot, have used Ultima-lube, wipe on let sit 5 minutes and wipe all off. Probably will try Mag-slick next, should be easier to apply than the Ultima...
