  1. Well EAA was very helpful on ordering some parts. Registering on their website was clunky. They rejected and cancelled the first two orders. The order process requires a Tanfoglio part number. This is kind of difficult, a real parts catalog used to be available, wish I had saved a copy. They also have quantity limits on some parts. I take this as positive. Maybe hoarding for warranty work?
  2. Yes, turn clockwise so the screw protrudes further from the backside of the trigger. I like to adjust until gun does not fire anymore, then back it out to desired overtravel. Do this while dryfiring.
  3. After looking at all the Tanfoglio Suppliers in the US, ended up sourcing from Eric Grauffel. He has a good stock of most Tanfoglio parts. He said he can still order from the factory to maintain stock. Hopefully IFG will soon be a supplier here in the US.
  4. Shearing the height adjustment screw was the common failure on the sights. Some have added a rubber buffer under the screw. Assume you are running 40’s to do this. Think some of the CZ’s suffer with catastrophic failures too. Especially the race guns.
  5. Does anyone know a US source for the Tanfoglio trigger return springs? Like the feel better compared to he reduced tension version. Cannot find a Tanfoglio part number, found mention of DA/SA and SA TRS. Thought they are all the same. Ran through the usual sources. Found them at ericgrauffel, shipping was steep.
  6. Eric Graufel sent a picture of the modified trigger for use with this vintage Xtreme Tanfoglio SA trigger. Did want to modify the trigger bar to work with his trigger, modified the trigger to work with my gun. Hogged out a channel inside the trigger with a flat metal file. There needs to be room right under the short leg of the trigger return spring to allow it to seat properly. The Xtreme trigger must have better leverage. Pull dropped from 3 LS,6 oz to 2 lb,7 oz after installation. No side to side movement also. There is a Version II Tanfoglio SA trigger. States drop in install. Must have a hole to capture the trigger return spring.
  7. Glad they are doing better. My experiences were before IFG. None were great.
  8. Several guns use plastic guide rods. When I tear down my Shadow 1 it always bothers me. But works fine. I am past (I hope) swapping out perfectly good internal parts for better materials or looks. Now something like a longer lasting slide stop will be of interest.
  9. Himurax13,, Cannot stand the shape of the trigger and the take up to fire. Been too cold to go to PSC and test out. Going to modify and install the Xtreme trigger back in. One dumb question, you are filing the corner of the trigger bar to create a hole for the trigger return spring? I wanted to modify the trigger, and not maybe weaken the trigger bar. Plus if I damage something I have three triggers and one trigger bar. Slotting the steel trigger will be a Dremel job.
  10. People with better eyes can spot the differences. This one is around four years old, I think. Maybe five.
  11. I would get the Limited Pro. Think it is the same as my EAA Limited Pro. Normally the Match Elite would be my pick. Single action trigger. But the one you have pictured appears to have the low profile rear sight. Non adjustable for height. And just a grub screw to hold for windage. The Tanfoglio SuperSight is a big improvement to me. The SuperSight will not interchange with that sight. It requires milling the slide to swap out. That Stock 1 is the best looking of the three to me. But real pretty would be a Hunter.
  12. I have an Elite Match that came with a 10mm slide. The slide is labeled as a Combat Sport 10. Assume this was thought as a more hunting model. Look at the sights. This one came with low profile sights, not height adjustable. Purchased a 9mm slide for it. It came with the Supersights. I like the Supersights much better. Taller front sight too. Also have an EAA Limited Pro in 10mm. It is regular barrel like the Match. I am not a fan of cone barrels for the shooting I do. No better or worse. It used a to be the Match Elite were 600.00 guns and the Stock and Limited Pro were 900 - 1000. Today they are about the same price. My Limited Pro has been converted to single action. Has a Tanfoglio SA trigger. Breaks at 2lb, 12 oz. The factory trigger in the Match Elite breaks at 3lb, 2 oz. Both should drop some with a reduced power return spring and a little polishing on the trigger bar. I never leave a round in the chamber, shoot all guns single action.
  13. I did not know think about hogging out a hole for the spring. May shoot it a little and tear it down again. There is a LOT of takeup now with disconnector pulled and a double action trigger. This Xtreme SA trigger is disappointing if you have to modify it to be able to use on the gun it is designed for. I fought for a couple hours trying to find how to stick the short end of spring inbetween the trigger and trigger bar. Guess that is why there is a Version II.
  14. Decided to install one of these on a full size large frame Witness. The trigger fit tight on the trigger bar. Seems to work fine. But there is no pocket to install the short leg of the trigger return spring. Fought it for a couple hours and reinstalled the Tanfoglio double action trigger. After practicing with Extreme trigger, it took maybe 15 seconds to push the spring and pin it in place. I wanted to install a second one in one of my other Tanfoglio guns. Is there a trick to finding a hole to stick the short leg into? At least on the standard Witness trigger bar there is no gap for spring with an EG Extreme SA trigger.. Think the trigger bars are all the same.
  15. Lucky man, I purchased my first Witness at a gun show. Never seen one at a show since. But still wanting a Hunter.
  16. I Have Never dropped a loaded gun, famous last words. Good reason to leave original FP and spring in.
  17. Limited Pro is nicer finished than any CZ I have seen so far.
  18. BUT, these two manufacturers seem to be going in different directions. CZ is purchasing other manufacturers. Tanfoglio is struggling to supply guns. I have never shot a Czechmate or an Limited Extreme. But have lower end models from both companies. Agree with zzt that the Tanfoglio’s are better finished. The P01 and Shadow I have look like they were painted with cheap paint. The Match Elite and Limited Pro look like quality handguns. This is a Witness 22LR and a Match Elite.

    Sight Pusher Tool

This looks like what I have. The brand is VISM. Need to read up more. Tried it and had issues with it slipping.
  20. I hope so too. I was mad at EAA/Tanfoglio and would not order a Hunter. Felt I had given them too much patience and money. Wanted a Hunter. Now I cannot get one.
  21. Both the 10mm Match Elite and the 10mm Limited Pro have always ejected rounds further than any gun I have shot. I usually shot in an outdoor range, the cells have a 10’ high concrete wall to rebound off of. A month ago I was shooting the LimPro with some Georgia Arms ammo and the two gentlemen shooting two stalls over came down. They said brass was pelting them, over the wall, the next wall, and 40’ away. Next week a guy said brass was hitting his vehicle parked behind the cell, also 40 away from shooting position. Do not remember either chunking brass this far. Shot the Match Elite, same ammo, had put an 18 pound Wolf recoil spring in it maybe 1500 rounds back. The brass was staying in the bay. No clearing the wall. Patriot Defense installed a Tanfoglio SA trigger in the Limited Pro a couple years back. Then checked it for factory issues. Do not think they changed the recoil spring. Hate to mess with the spring, it shoots fairly softly, softer than the Match Elite.
  22. T-Tom, sounds like the mag release is either not seating correctly or out of spec. I would use Patriot Defense to sort it out. We are on our own with these guns. Henry, EAA was the only source for conversion slides. But availability was terrible, and sometimes they would ship what they had and not what you need. You might get a Hunter slide for your Compact and then reply that you should order the correct part to begin with.
  23. Liked your comment on Tanfoglio factory QC. Turn gun upside down and shake. If slide stays on it is good to ship. Losing EAA is good. I have gotten the wrong parts from them multiple times. They ALWAYS replied I ordered the wrong parts. Once when I sent a photo of what they shipped they said it was not their part. What I had sent a picture of was not a Tangfoglio part. Took a month of back and forth to return for correct part. Waited a year once and when part came it was wrong. Still have it. Cost over 200.00. Does not fit any of my guns. They told if I order wrong part it is on me. Stupid, crooked, or both. I will never order one of those Turkish wonders they now carry.
