  1. Well they got back to me, after talking with warranty and quality control they decided it would be best to replace the frame. But earlier today I realized that I am in CA, in order to get this gun I had to private party transfer it since it is not on our ridiculous drop list. I will not be able to DROS a new serial number. So I guess I'm just shooting this one until I can't anymore. Either I grow too old and my hands and sight stop working, or the gun fails. I guess I'll just have to wait and see which comes first, hahaha.
  2. they returned my email and I sent them these pictures. just waiting to hear back on the verdict.
  3. Doesn't the barrel lug pivot back the forth right there?
  4. Last week I got a brand new STI Trojan in 9mm for an ESP IDPA gun. I took it to the range Monday and put 50 rounds through it. On Tuesday I took it apart to clean it and noticed something right away. There is some kind of blemish in the frame next to the barrel lug channel. It actually bleeds slightly into the groove. I've owned over a dozen 1911s of various makes and models and have never seen this before. My main concern is this is a high friction area with moving parts that need to function flawlessly for the pistol to work. I would hate for it to cause an issue later down the road and render the frame useless. Are things like this very common with STI frames, or is this just overlooked bad quality control? I've sent STI an email regarding my concerns, still waiting to hear back from them.
  5. From the media separator I dump brass into a towel and shake them around to remove excessive moisture. From ther they go into the oven at 215 degrees for 30 min, after 15 min I take them out and stir them around a bit. Once they're out of the oven I leave them in the baking pan over night. I've never had a misfire due to excessive moisture when using stainless media. I don't know if it makes a difference but I also remove primers before tumbling.
  6. Black Bullets Int. 135 gr bullets work very well for me out of my CZ's. I've got 5 different CZ pistols and they all seem to have very little headspace, the SP-01 being the shortest of them all. I have to load the 135 to an OAL of 1.09 to avoid jamming into the lands of the rifling. My 147gr have to be loaded even a scosche shorter, about 1.085 which is dangerously close to minimum OAL. As others have stated above, be shire to preform a plunk/push test, Good luck.
  7. Great I wondered how CF pistol did on the low end what was your accuracy if you compared?Sorry just noticed your CF pistol was only for 135 still accuracy input, be nice to know I was only shooting off hand at 10 yards, but it was pretty darn accurate. All 10 shots were in a 2.5" group dead center. I felt the most accurate out of the six I listed was the 135gr with 3.4gr bullseye. Although I think I'm going to try 3.3gr next just to drop the PF a tad bit.
  8. I just chronographed a few loads yesterday and here is what I have come up with. I used Black Bullets International 147gr. and 135gr. All rounds were loaded to an OAL of 1.09 with mixed brass and Federal small pistol primers. I got the average velocity from 10 rounds through my Chrony with each individual load through a 5" 1911 9mm barrel. -Here is what I found with my 147gr. bullets 3.0gr. Bullseye, average velocity 926.5 = 136 PF 3.1gr. Bullseye, average velocity 949 = 139 PF -Here is what I found with my 135gr. bullets 3.2gr. Bullseye, Average velocity 957.1 = 129 PF 3.4gr. Bullseye, average velocity 1017 = 137 PF 3.5gr. CFE Pistol, average velocity 966.9 = 130 PF 3.6gr. CFE Pistol, average velocity 990.5 = 133 PF Both bullets performed very accurately and every functioned perfectly through the 1911. Between the two different powders I used with the 135gr. Bullets I preferred the feel of the Bullseye. The CFE Pistol had a snappier cycle where as the Bullseye created a slower push feeling. I would definitely shoot any of these load in a match.

  10. I would think practice with a .45 and a 5# trigger, then compete with a 9mm with a 2.5 # trigger. Unless of course you are shooting a n major.
  11. $125 seems pricey for a barrel crown. My local smith charges me $20 - $30 depending on his mood, hahaha.
  12. What about the length they extend from the barrel
  13. Are ported chokes considered a compensator or a ported barrel? Are they legal in most of the 3 gun shotgun divisions?
  14. That's weird it's not USPSA legal considering it is an IDPA legal gun. Since it is offered from the factory that way it is not a custom side cut it flys.
  15. The only person that you should cross reference with what happened and what was seen is the ASO / Scorekeeper. If you can't seem to figure it out between the two of you next the person to talk to would be the MD. And as stated above 1 PE was the correct call.
  16. Thanks, started with a dremel, then to 5 different grits of sand paper, finished it off with two different buffing wheels.
  17. Congrats on the TS, I recently just picked one up myself. Here's a couple pics of the progress, right now it's off to the paint shop for a cerskote finish.
  18. That was kind of what I was thinking of trying
  19. I am shooting a CA state USPSA match tomorrow and was wondering what I should consume throughout the day to keep my energy up. What does everyone out there like to do on the range to keep your mind and body sharp? I was thinking plenty of water obviously with an assortment of different fruits and nuts throughout the day. I was also curious how many people drink coffee or some sort of caffeine before a pistol match?
  20. Well I was able to find a TS, so that's what I'll be shooting for now. Thanks for everyone's opinions.
  21. If you fad to choose between a Barsto .40 cal 2011 or a CZ .40 cal Tac Sport for limited, which one would it be and why?
  22. This diagram is helpful. What does the dotted line represent? is that the front strap which would make the solid front line a magwell?
  23. Currently I am competing with my IDPA guns, a minor government 1911 in 9mm or a CZ 75B SA in minor. So overall when speaking of "being more competitive" I was thinking of something along the lines of Limited Major. And being very used to my 1911s, I figured a 2011 would be a good option.
