  1. Thanks. Though I'd think analyzing golf play is most likely done by motion, while analyzing shooting is more by audio.
  2. I have a bunch of video recorded of my match shooting. Since you don't really get to see the numbers on SO's buzzers during a match, I'd like to feed them after the match into a software that in turn would show me: - draw times - reload times - split times - transition times To me (working in IT industry), this should be pretty straightforward. It can already by done manually today by simply feeding the audio part of the video into "Audacity" and come up with all these numbers. However, it is a very time consuming and repetitive task if done manually. If anyone know a software that could automate this process, please let me know. Thanks.
  3. You do not have to remove the rear sight to get the striker out. Look for disassembly videos on YouTube Go back and READ this post (#20) by CHA-LEE He knows what he is explaining to you Yes, he explained correctly that taking out the striker assembly does not require taking off rear sight However, taking out the striker block plunger does require taking off the rear sight, because the plunger spring is pressed against the rear sight I did take out the striker block plunger (and spring) over the weekend. The physical appearance seems fine to me, no scratch marks, dents, etc. I put them back and went to range. Out of 300 rounds (all with WSP) fired, I got 0 light primer strike, and this is with the APEX spring going on 6k round count. I am very much perplexed. Still not sure what's causing the previous light strikes. I do check primer seating on each round. I am sure there were no high or tilt primers.
  4. Most people only talk about FMJ, TMJ, JHP, plated etc. What about coated bullets? Coated bullets (e.g Bayou) should have low risk of lead exposure like the plated ones (e.g. Xtreme/Berry's), correct?
  5. Thanks! I looked into the original packaging and found the other die which is for FP. Thanks again!
  6. Recently, I have switched to use Bayou FP bullets. I am getting some occasional coating/lead shaving issue. Someone suggested the I should make sure the seating die is using the "FP" stem instead of the "RN" stem. It was said that Dillon seating dies have the 2 stems that are reversible. Today I took out the seating die on my SDB, and noticed that the die has only 1 end - that appears to be a stem for RN bullets. This is strange, because when I was loading Xtreme plated before, I have been getting rings on the tips all the time, which was said to be caused by a FP stem on the seating die. Can someone please confirm if the seating die stem on SDB is for RN or FP? Can someone please confirm? It may be that something else is causing the coating/lead shaving, not the seating die, although I have already belled the brass excessively.
  7. Bayou coated is about the same price, $230 per 3,000, I believe. Shipping is free and always reaches me (in TX) within 3 days.
  8. Just curious if anyone cleans their barrels in a sonic cleaner. If so, what solution do you use? I am thinking of using the case cleaning solution like the Hornady OneShot solution. Will it do any damage to the barrel? Thanks.
  9. I have the APEX kits installed on some of my MPs, and the kits include the "ultimate striker block". I did compare stock MPs with the APEX kitted ones using the pencil test. Both of them could only get the pencil out of the barrel for about 2 inches. I am not convinced that striker block interference is the problem. Did you take the striker out and look for damage on the leading edge of the striker block leg? This is really the only way to confirm if there is interference or not. Or are you not going to heed my advice yet again and send your M&P off to S&W to verify what is going on to only waste a month and get the same answer? I hate to sound like a prick, but you seem to start these threads and question all of the guidance you get. If you don't understand how the M&P trigger parts function or interact with one another then maybe you shouldn't be tinkering on your own gun. Leave it to a qualified gunsmith if you can't figure it out yourself. I will take off the rear sight and look at the striker block tonight. I was just responding to the "pencil test", which shows identical results on one APEX kit MP9 vs. one near brand new stock MP9.

  11. I tried the trick on all my MPs, MP9 full size, MP9 pros and MP9c, some with APEX kits and some are just purely stock. In all cases, the pencil made it out of the barrel by about 2 inches. I don't see a difference between the stock ones vs. APEX ones.
  12. Thanks for confirming. Yes I have been running the blue stock springs on all my MPs. I guess before I get hold of some Federal primers, I will be running the stock striker spring on the 5k WSP I just stocked up
  13. To follow up on my story - I got new APEX striker spring yesterday. I put it on and tried it this morning. To my disappointment, I am still getting 2-3 light primer strikes among the 100 rounds fired today. I took off the new APEX striker spring and swapped the factory striker spring on. Fired another 100 rounds - 0 issue. It looks like even new APEX striker spring is too light for WSP or CCI. This only makes the situation worse, because Federal primers are out of stock everywhere. I have not seen any in the past 3 months (that's why I am switching to WSP). Anybody knows what's the impact to use APEX kit with stock striker spring? I did not feel any significant difference firing the 100 rounds in that setup, but I can tell the trigger pre-travel seemed to be a bit longer and the trigger pull is a tiny bit heavier. Thanks.
  14. My 2nd MP9 pro with APEX kit now has 5000 rounds on it. Mainly shooting Federal primers, but recently changed to WSP due to shortage of Federals. I started having one light primer strikes every 100 rounds or so. I don't know if I keep shooting Federal primers, maybe the light primer strike issue won't surface so soon. I emailed APEX and they told me the APEX striker spring life time is 8k-10k. I guess replacing it every 5k is on the safe side.
  15. I have the click sound sometimes, not always. 10% of the times I'd say. I think it is normal.
  16. Duhh... no 9mm http://www.shootersconnectionstore.com/MrBulletFeeder-by-DAA-Powder-Funnel-for-Pistol-P2708.aspx
  17. It's $39 but shipping from Netherland is $65. In the US, no online store carries it. MidWayUSA has it backordered for about 6 months already. Would really wanna try this but so hard to get one.
  18. Is the one on Dillon SDB flat-tipped? I know when I seat plated RN bullets, there is a ring on the tip of each bullets.
  19. I have been loading plated Xtreme and PD FMJ before with my Dillon SDB. Today, I got some Bayou 147gr FP to try. Only loaded 5 of them, and I noticed that for all of them there is always a small amount of lead exposed at the case mouth after the bullet was seated, before the crimping. I pulled one of them and saw one side of the bullet is badly scratched. Is this normal? Is the expander die on my Dillon SDB bad? Please advise. Thanks.
  20. Anyone tried this with Titegroup? I have no access to N320 here...
  21. Both cost about $1,000 or more. Are there any similar products that are <$100 for IDPA/USPSA shooters (99% shooting in the open)? Or the foam ear plug the only way to go in Summer?
  22. And you are the first shooter in the squad... It looks like at least for IDPA there is no "personal walk-through" allowed. What would you do in this scenario?
  23. Just to follow up. I loaded some Precision Delta 147 FMJ-TC bullets using the same amount of Titegroup I was using for Xtreme 147RN. The only change I did was to back out the seating die a full turn so that I can keep the OAL at 1.140'' with these TC bullets. Tested on a chrono: the average speed for 10 rnds is 880fps, with a max of 900fps and min of 867fps. This is exactly what I was getting from the Xtreme 147RN in the same pistol (MP9 Pro 5'' with KKM barrel). Thanks for all the inputs.
  24. I just tried some new crimping settings. These bullets do not keyhole in general, only maybe 1 out of 20 or so would keyhole. However, as the picture shows, I do see crimp line, though I don't think there is any deformation of the bullet due to that line. The interesting thing is, with the crimp line, you can still see the brass has the bell. This is on Dillon SDB, and I was told the coke bottle shape of the loaded brass is normal. Is it normal? I carefully measured a few dimensions: 1. Bullet base (after being pulled out) - 0.355'' 2. Based of brass - 0.390'' 3. Mouth of the brass - 0.378'' I am about to switch to FMJ bullets and try more.
