  1. OK. One more question - does adding a Mr. Bullet Feeder increase width or depth needed to "comfortably" operate the 650? From the pictures/videos I have seen, MBF attaches to the case feeder. How much wider would that make?
  2. Excellent idea! I actually have a single-stage with Lee decapping die. I think I will use that for now. I wasn't sure if the sizing die on SDB will function correctly without the decapping pin but seems the broken pin won't affect the sizing. Thanks for the input.
  3. Did anyone else notice the way TTI base pad is installed is different than the others? The TTI base pads have a hollow bottom, effectively making the length of the mag longer, thus being able to accept more rounds (20 9mm on the standard 17-round stock mag). Will this make the stock mag spring weaker? Will this require extra power mag spring to function correctly? Has anyone had feeding issues?
  4. Not in my box, but that could be my fault of not keeping these small things in their original place... Called Dillon and the best bet is to visit a local dealer see if they have any spare pins. Also ordered a few from Dillon website. Looks like having some Dillon decapping pins around is pretty important for any Dillon user.
  5. Only 6 months old SDB 9mm. Today the decapping pin got broken on a Winchester white box once-fired brass. Not sure why. The pin broke in half, with the broken part stuck in the primer pocket. Question is - where to do I buy a replacement? I have some pins from my Lee decapping die but does not seem they will fit. My Lee decapping pin has not broken even once through thousands of cases, even though I did buy extra just in case. Too bad SDB did no come with an extra decapping pin. The other trouble is that the resizing die on SDB is probably loctited. I nearly broke the wrench and still it won't budge. I guess I will have to use some lubricant plus hair dryer see if I can move it. This sucks as there won't be any shooting this week unless I can buy a new pin/die from a local store quickly ...
  6. Well most IDPA boxes are wooden, and you can push it in He said if the boxes are metal then.... However, even with wooden boxes, I can imagine stages where you start from picking the gun up from the box can be tough
  7. So the conclusion is? Limited pro is IDPA legal (for both SSP and ESP), while Stock 2/3 are not?
  8. I used to shoot SSP where I just made master recently. Since then I have installed the SSS magwell for ESP. I don't really feel it is an improvement. The main issue is the added length of magwell mouth requires a dedicated motion of palm slap at almost 90 degrees to fully seat the mags, which takes 0.1-0.2 sec. Vs. previously in SSP without a magwell, I simply use my left pinky finger base to rub the mag into seating position with 100% reliability, and it does not take any additional time as my left hand is getting into grip position. Does anyone else feel the same way? BTW - with enough repetitions in dry-fires, I have never missed the mag well in a reload in matches. Maybe I am missing something.
  9. I am tempted to put a field stripped MP9 Pro into sonic cleaner with the Lyman sonic cleaner solution. Does anyone know if the fiber optic would be affected? What about the grip tape (I use Talon), will they fall off after being submerged in water for 20 min?
  10. This really has a huge pull for a neat freak like me Did you build you own tumbler? Looks very cool. I have a spare treadmill with a working motor, and been thinking how to turn it into a tumbler like yours. Do you mind sharing some of your design ideas?
  11. I tried them with the stock plastic mag release and the LF-arms extended metal mag release. Same result. I did not reverse the mag release because I have trained to use right hand thumb to release mags.
  12. Received SSS basepad today. Put it on, and did some comparison with Springer ones. Here are the pics. When both mags are fully inserted, the SSS is 1.5mm longer protruding from the mag well. What does this mean? For me, it means less failures in seating magazines during a reload. I called Springer and they are willing to accept a return of unused base pads. I will pay a restocking fee for the ones I did use. Nice guys to deal with!
  13. Looking to replace my SDB with 650. Currently loading on SDB inside a semi-walk in closet due to space limitation. The closet is tall enough, about 7 or 8 feet high ceiling, and pretty deep about 50 inches deep. However, the width is very limited. I think only about 23-25 inches wide. Will I be able to operate 650 (with a strong mount) in this space? What is the max width when the bullet tray, finished cartridge tray are both installed on the strong mount? Can someone please measure and let me know? Thanks.
  14. For me, it translates into 2-3 hours of time saving each month (I load 2k per month). I guess once I get a good bench in place, I will start saving for a 650. Anyone wanna take a <1 year old SDB for $300 (with inline fab roller handle upgrade)?
  15. Probably cost you $1,000 to get a fully set up 650 - might be cheaper to make your Bench more solid. You'll only save an hour a week - Guess it depends on whether you feel that $1,000 is worth an hour a week.... This. I added the whole thing into my shopping cart from Ben's store, and realize it is $970 plus shipping. I am going to build a better bench and bolt it to the wall. Hope that helps me with the upstroke issue. For the speed, I truly hope Dillon could make a case feeder for SDB. That would be awesome.
  16. I felt the most struggle I have with SDB is the upstroke to seat primers. Because my bench is not mounted to wall, I have to use the other hand to secure the bench while I do the upstroke, in fear of less force would result in high primers that causes light primer strikes (I had a few due to that). Does anyone know if the 650 upstroke is easier?
  17. I have been loading with SDB exclusively for 9mm. I have a single stage press for rifle calibers and I don't load them often at all. I do, however, load quite a lot of 9mms - about 500-700 rounds each week. I could reliably casually load 300 rounds/hour with SDB. So each week I spend about 2 hours in front of the press. Would upgrading to 650 cut that time in half? e.g. loading 700/hour (with case feeder) at casual speed? Or how much time saving we are looking at? Besides the time saving, what are other advantages to upgrade to 650? Some perks I know about: 1. Powder check station - I visually check each round so I don't think it would be much of help for me 2. Being able to load other calibers - I only shoot 9mm for the past year and probably a few years to come. I would be loading other calibers on single stage due to low to no consumption. 3. Being able to use non-Dillon dies - Not sure if this is an advantage... Anything else I missed? Thanks.
  18. The one with pictures are the "short" version. The non-short version only has pictures of the base pads themselves. I did not say these base pads don't work. They work, just not as smooth and easy as I expected. I guess I could train my muscle to do the extra hard palm slap/push with certain part of my palm (where my bones stick out more, like the finger joint base area) to seat the mags, which shouldn't be necessary at all if the base pads stick out just a little bit more instead of staying pretty much flush to the mag well.
  19. Looks like I did order them for use with magwell. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Qty | Item # | Description ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1 | SPMPEZ25BP-BL | Springer Precision M&P 9/40 EZ +.25" base | | pads Color: Blue Numbering (per unit): 1 +$1.00 M&P retaining plate style: Square new style retainer For use with a magwell: Yes
  20. No idea. I ordered these: http://shop.springerprecision.com/product.sc?productId=245&categoryId=25
  21. It is a pity because the pads look really high quality and nice. Mine stick out 2mm or so too, when the mags have been fully seated. However, to seat a mag full of bullets, you have to push it beyond the fully seated position until it clicks. If you carefully look at the position when the click happens, the pad is caved inside the magwell at that point. I think that's where the real trouble is.
  22. I received 6 SP base pads. They look really nice. The fit is a bit tight. I have to push really hard to slide them to the mags. Unfortunately, seating the magazines has become much more difficult, due to the fact that the base pads are flush or even a bit caved in with the magwell opening when fully seated. This is with my SSS ESP magwell. Basically I have to consciously find some ways to push the magazines into the well really hard to seat them properly, vs. previously I simply let me palm hit the magwell opening. I ordered an TTI and SSS base pad to compare. Will post here when I get them.
  23. Did anyone else notice FPS increase after the cases are lubed? I usually don't lube pistol brass, just let NuFinish in my tumbler do the lube. However, seeing this post, I tried Imperial Wax on 9mm cases. I did wipe them off with a towel. Even with that, I found the ones lubed have about 30fps-40fps (my 147gr non-lubed are usually 870fps, but with the lubed ones it goes up to 900fps) more than the non-lubed ones. Everything else are identical - same powder amount, seating depth, etc. I repeated this experiment one more time yesterday, with same result. Very strange.
