Liota, What ever do you mean about the season starting? We have a match Sat., outdoors, right here in MN. There is only a few feet of snow on the ground with 1 to 3 inches forcasted for tonight. The freestyle element might be hapered a little, but shooting will happen. I expect to see a fair number of shooters/friends. The people here will get out and shoot in any kind of weather.
  2. I took my RO class in 1987, taught by Dave & Marilyn. I took my CRO class in 1989, taught by Andy Hollar. I have work a Nationals every year except for the 1990 Nationals which I shot. Now I am am both an NROI and IROA CRO. It is soooooo much fun to RO out of the US!
  3. Vince, Some of us have only worked matches instead of shooting them. I went to Hungry and worked the match in 2001, very much longer than 4 hours on a plane. I have only shot one Nationals here in the states with IPSC sanctioning, but worked the Pan-Am and the North American. Working a match can be just as rewarding. So don't forget workers!
  4. SHOT Show 2004 is only 2 weeks away. I wonder what kind of coverage USPSA is looking at for Nationals this year. Media will stay away again if another exclusive deal is done. That is the reason we only have seen coverage in Front Sight. I hope the BOD marketing committee makes a better decision for this year.
  5. Garfield, I was in Innsbruck last fall. It is a beautiful city. Toured St. James' Cathedral, the Grassmayer Bell Factory, shopped, ate and drank. Went up into the mountains outside of town for 4 days. I understand that walking up the mountain is a popular thing to do and seen many people out doing it. Have a great time!
  6. I believe our Area 3 director, who is less than 10 months from retiring, just has nothing better to do at work! Hi honey!
  7. Vince, Arnie and I use his Sony VAIO notebook most of the time. I still have a desktop, a Sony VAIO with a flat moniter, that I do some of my work on. It is nice to have all that extra space at our desks to clutter up with other stuff.
  8. Men will always act like men, and women will love them anyway. I am still excited about seeing eveyone at SHOT Show and the IPSC President's Council. Even though it is a hugh show and requires many miles of walking, I always look forward to it each year.
  9. I will be arriving in Las Vesgas for SHOT on Monday Feb. 9th. I believe I have only missed 2 SHOT Shows since 1980. They were big back then and they are really big now. Vince, I refuse to have tea and cucumbers sandwiches with you. also, the IPSC club, ssssHOOTERS is famous for chicken wings, not burgers. I see I will have to help you eat right and learn to drink adult beverages. I really hope you do make the show. Neil, if I recall correctly, I will not need to help you with any of these things. I am very much looking forward to seeing you again. Patrick, I am sure I will see you at some of the media events now that you are with Primedia!
  10. The Area 3 Director and myself are hosting a New Year's Eve party for all of our shooting friends tonight. Unlike some other places, our shooting friends here in MN like to socialize together after matches, usually by going out to eat. It is really nice to see people off the range as well as on. On that note, I wish everyone on the forum a very Happy New Year. I am sure I will see you on the range in 2004!
  11. Alex, It is amusing to see you bring forward my idea from the USPSA election, especially since I am Vice President of PASA Park. Congrats on almost having your range completed. It would benefit all members if each Area could hold a Nationals, I know that Area 3 will not be able to do that for quite a while. I guess you have not attended a Nationals, since I have worked each and every one of the Nationals that have been held at PASA Park, except for the one in 1989. I shot that one. I also attended Areas 3, 4, 5, & 6 and all four Nationals this year. So I have no idea why we have never met. I also assume you will be asking me to step down if I am running a stage at a match because you cannot trust me because of my connection to PASA Park. As you stated you cannot trust any one there. I have yet to complain about your behavior here on the forum. That is because Rob is doing a great job of getting information out to our members. Having said that I would suggest you be a bit more polite.

    The Flu

We got 8 inches of snow here in St. Paul, MN. starting yesterday and during the night. Now I have a sore throat. I got a flu shot middle of Nov, I hope it is only a cold.

    Winter

stingerjg, I looked at your club's web page. The range looks very nice! Why not bid for the Area 3 match?
  14. TheotherErik, Chicago is 6 hours from PASA and another 1/2 hour to Quincy. Only if you want to do some serious driving is it worth it. St. Louis is the place to fly to. If you need anything else let me know.
  15. Tom, I will be happy to assist you on finding things to do in Quincy and the surrounding area. Just send me an email with the things you would like to do to dminor@adams.net.
  16. PASA charges $25 dollars for an annual adult membership and $50 for a family membership. The only time the range is truely shut down is during the 7 days of deer season, we like to hunt also. Even during Nationals there is usually room for a member to shoot, maybe at the rifle venues. The best part is that almost evey Christmas Day, some one comes to the range to try out their new gun that Santa brought them!
  17. The problem as I see it, is that the minutes from the BOD meeting may be weeks away from being made available to the membership because there was so much left unfinished. This includes bylaw changes, the new rules, policies, etc. etc. It is too bad that more of the membership did not attend the meeting and see for themselves what went on.
  18. Unfortunately, there was very little done on anything at the USPSA BOD meeting in my opinion, even though it lasted two and one half days. I think the members will be very disappointed by the small amount of work that was done. It has been a week now and still no minutes. This is not unusual. I ask my Area Director this morning about this and he informed me nothing was forthcoming at this time. I suggest that you contact your Area Director and ask the same questions.
  19. Ron, One of the reasons I ask shooters, "do you understand the COF" before the LAMR command, is because 95% of the time they do not remember the start position. I use this as a way for them to ask me what the start position is. It seems to help. I am sorry to hear that you want to hear nothing but the standard range commands. Let me know next time I RO you.
  20. Vince, Arnie and I just may be able to attend this match. Arnie will be retiring Nov. 1, 2004 and I will be celebrating a birthday during the match dates. That leaves us plenty of time to come and play. Brian, My brother was working in Jakarta for a while and to my knowledge had no trouble of any kind to report.
  21. Big Huggy Brian, Have a very Happy Birthday!!! Arnie and I will drink some champagne tonight in your honor. Please, please eat low carb cake and drink low carb beer, it will make you sooooo much easier to tackle at next years Nationals!
  22. Brian, This diet is how Arnie got rid of his *little* extra. There are some low carb beers out there. I bet Little Huggy Deb will like being able to put her arms all the way around you. Go for it!!!
  23. Jeff, Email Arnie Christianson at hoser9x21@earthlink.net or call him in the evenings this week. I believe there is a 3-gun match Sept. 6th at MG&FC. I will also check the schedule and see if there is anything else. The range will be about 1 & 1/2 hour drive from were you will be staying.
