I just handled one of these. The case hardened controls and magazine base plates are a nice touch. The glossy blue frame is really pretty. The tribal tattoos are a lot more subtle in person. The barrel has a nice high gloss finish. I'm just not at a point where I can buy a gun to not shoot. Were I there, I'd consider it.

Not super familiar with the accushadow but I believe it comes with the CZ custom aluminum grips that has the skateboard tape inserts. You are probably OK with what's on there.

If the external mods are from another gun produced by the OEM MFG or installed by the OEM in the factory, then it's OK. So a stock 85 combat trigger is OK, but changing the set screw for a longer one is technically illegal. Stuart at CZ Custom can probably answer your question for you, he told me in another thread that the comp hammer comes on some other version of the shadow. Ad the slide cut for the target sight makes the Shadow Target illegal, as is well established at this point.

My CZ 75 compact (single side safety) with VZ grips is well under 1.3 everywhere. With the factory grips, it was just a smidge over 1.3 Slide stop to the little pin protruding on the other side of the frame is the widest part and that's where the measurement came from. Other than that, you're right, it's much skinnier.

Since it works for the full size, I would expect that it alters the POI somewhat. ANyone have any experience?

So I installed my CGW SRS2 + RPTRS on my 75b compact. I did not pencil test before putting the parts in, but now it moves the pencil, but barely (like 1" rise double and single when held vertically). I do not have any other CZs to compare to, but my 1911 with a 18.5# mainspring launches the pencil clear of the barrel. Did I do bad? Is this timing issues? All of the parts are successfully installed as far as I know, and I hate to go to the range to confirm it when you guys are a veritable bevy of information. Starting to toy with the idea of building up a CZ for competition. I'm looking at a base SP01 or 85C to build up. The 85C seems like a winner, because it has an adjustable rear sight and no firing pin block. That said, how much of a difference will the FLDC of the SP01 make in terms of recoil? which would you build up?

For what it's worth, I have one of the cheap WC over the grip bushing mag wells on my back up 1911... it's OK. It's far better than nothing, but if this were my main gun I would probably spring for something nicer. Were I to do it all over again I probably would not even mess around with the subtle magwells that don't flare out at the base of the gun in proper flower pot fashion, like the Tech Wells or the Dawsons. I love VZ grips, so Techwells aren't for me.

First off definitely get an aluminum mag well. I have a steel S&A magwell, it works great, but I needed to use a GI guide rod to make weight and it's still over 42oz. If I had to do it over again I'd probably get a Dawson magwell, or Techwell, but I like VZ grips. If you get the kind that hooks over the grip bushings you'll need to relieve your grips to sit flat, like this: Wow, you're a lot better at that than me. I used a dremel free hand and it does't look that good. At all.

Yeah a good set of sights, some good magazines, and a mag well is really probably all you "need" to be competitive.

Updating - I really like the 230 RN profile, it's longer than competitors bullets so at a comparable OAL I can get away with using less powder for the same power factor. Additionally the beveled base of the bullets seats really consistently, dramatically reducing shaving the coating. I ran these at an outdoor match last weekend with titegroup of all things and got no smoke. The coating is very well applied, and the shape of the bullet feeds well and loads super smoothly. I'm convinced now, for my 230's this is my go to projectile.

Starting to think about running my CZ in competition and looking to gear up, started looking at base pads. The SSP rule is 1 oz different from stock magazines... how do you determine what is a stock magazine? is it the OEM issue magazine? For instance: If I run an 85 Combat or 75 Shadow (non SP01) - I am issued CZ 16 rd magazines. Finally confirmed the Springer Precision base plates would be legal on these magazines, but what happens when you start introducing the 18 rd SP01 magazines? There's another rule that a non-standard magazine can weigh no more than 1 oz of the OEM magazine... I don't have an SP01 mag handy to weigh to compare, but would you ding somebody for using SP01 magazines? Or put another way, I haven't weighed a 17 rd Glock mag or a 15 round glock mag, but has anyone to verify that they are 1 oz apart? If not, that'd be illegal in the compact/subcompact Glocks (which is very popular). With respect to the CZ platform, you pretty much have to be very familiar with what magazines come with what guns to even come close to equitably enforcing this equipment rule. Further - Freaking CDP has a 1.5 oz base pad rule.... how on earth do you enforce a base pad rule on 1911 magazines? Nobody has OEM mags, except maybe Wilson Combat, everyone else buys ACT, MetalForm, Check-Mate, etc. And the mags are all different. Now, with steel guns pushing the weight limit, it'd be easy to say "whatever base pads you want, as long as you make weight" but with the plastics I can understand saying "no weighted base plates" or "after market base pads are permitted as long as they're machined from aluminum, plastic, or rubber and do not extend beyond the end of the magazine body by more than [whatever measurement]". As grips get shorter, I could see the dimension getting longer to accomodate +0 pinky extensions, etc. There's pretty much no way to police/enforce the rule in it's current format. Thoughts?

Alright, I got resourceful. I realized I had a spare stock stamped baseplate from my CZ Compact in my car and used the postal scale at work. The sheet metal base plate is weighing in at .3 OZ although it's probably not the most accurate, but even if it's rounding up from .25 OZ, that's still enough where the 1.16 oz would still be legal in SSP. Y'all don't care because you don't shoot IDPA, but now you can answer somebody else's question!

The SP website says that the base pads are only ESP legal, I am pretty sure they are SSP legal as well but do not have them to test (or a kitchen scale to weigh the stock base pad). 16 rd because went the built 85 combat route. It's definitely a game, and the guys who want to play the game are also suited for USPSA. Only the greenest shooters think of it as a facsimile for a gun fight, although the fundamentals instilled by the game with respect to gun handling will help immensely especially compared to your typical tactical square ranger.
