  1. Kind of random but sort of on topic here, I noticed it seems like Max Michel changed his reloading technique when it comes to hitting the mag release in 2016. I have been watching youtube vids and in some videos (more recent) he hits the mag release with his left thumb then reaches for the mag with the same hand. It kind of stood out to me and I never noticed it before so I looked at some match videos in 2015 and he uses his right hand thumb but the most recent uses his left hand thumb. I wonder why the change so late in the game? Editing to correct myself. Only noticed this in a couple of vids shooting open.

  2. Everyone,

just buy a hornady lock and load press. Load normally for a little while and you will have so many "dummy" rounds with no primer you will start throwing them away. Just shake the powder back into the hopper out of the empty primer hole, and throw it in a bin. That bin will have many more "dummies" thrown into it the longer you continue to load on a Lock N load. I now load on a 1050 but from my locknload days I almost have enough dummy rounds to fill all of my mags.

WST works well for 147 grain bullets but got squirrelly with 124's.

WSF is a solid powder but a little rough feeling for me - makes power easy & safe

W231/HP38 feels very nice, makes power easily and safely. I've just read too much about temperature sensitivity for my liking. Haven't tested myself, but moved on.

Titegroup is solid. Makes power easily, feels good and just works.

Alliant E3 - recently got some but have not worked up any loads, Purported to feel like Clays, WST, Titegroup but without the pressure issues. Going to work these up in the offseason.

Curious what was squirrelly? I use it with 147 out of my revo with good success. Shot some 125 g bullets at minor out of an open gun for a bit too. Didnt do any real testing with the 125's just loaded them and shot it at knockdown steel matches. was  Accuracy or consistency squirrelly or just feel for you? I forgot to add and almost forgot entirely myself that I shoot 125 out of my 9mm 1911 with WST too.

  4. Here we go this picture shows what I'm talking about. The "box" around the dot is the outline of the lens I am talking about. The brighter the dot the more noticeable the outline is. Seems like if the lens wasn't there at all the "problem" wouldn't exist. Anyone else notice this? I don't have the gun this sight is going on yet so all I have is a sight to examine at the moment. Probably just overthinking things  ....

  5. I have a question to the other deltapoint pro owners out there. The dot is very bright, especially indooors. When looking through the sight I see a lot of glare around the dot like a halo or splash. I looked at the sight closely and noticed that there is a lens in front of where the dots diode is (my attempt at describing where the dot comes from) and it looked smudged/dirty like when it was assembled there were fingerprints left on the small lens. I cleaned the small lens with a q tip and it seemed to help the splash glare effect. Anyone else notice this glare around the dot? Maybe it's not noticeable outside in sunlight but I can see the outline of the small lens when looking through the sight. I can see the dot and then the shape of the lens around the dot. I managed to take a picture of what I'm talking about and you can kind of see what I'm describing, I was wondering is this normal?

Huh wow that is pretty impressive. Not a bad price for one of those!

I was pretty happy to find one new reasonably priced compared to what their MSRP is. I'm kinda going all out on this open project and wanted to have no regrets on this one. I originally was going with an RTS2 but the What ifs got to me and I chose to spend a little more and hopped on the Deltapoint band wagon. The RTS2 is probably great but I have an addiction to spending money....

  7. Is there a magwell that is compatible with the race ready caspian frame? I suck at reloading and the race ready frame (IMO) is useless. My reloading skills suck and I cant seem to get a smooth "fast" reload down for the life of me and in my head im convinced I "need" a bigger magwell. Also Im not sure if this is specific to this frame or all singlestacks, but unless I match the angle of the magazine to the angle of the grip perfectly, it seems to hang up and not want to smoothly insert into the gun. I use Metalform mags which work great out of this gun and drop freely but it seems that there is almost no room for error on the angle of the magazine when inserting.

That is a full hundred dollars cheaper than I have seen for a DPP, anywhere. Where did you get it?

I got mine off of gunbroker. A seller had over 20 when I bought it. It arrived new in the package. Also someone on here mentioned that with a coupon code for optics planet the price would be the same 475$ shipped.

  9. Well I saw a price of the rts2 at a couple places for 420$ ish and I got my dpp for 475$ shipped. Close but if you're getting an rts2 for under 400 then yea I was off on my estimate there lol. I still think it's worth it based on the hit or miss response on the rts2 vs the deltapoint pro where I have yet to read a dpp died on an open gun. Probably has and does happen but from what I've read it seems be far less often. I guess I'll find out the truth about my assumption soon enough once the build is complete.

  10. Or go Delatpoint Pro. I will have one on my open gun being built. I have heard nothing but good things from the people who have tried them on here so Im giving it a shot. Buying a RTS2 new vs Deltapoint pro isnt much of a difference. I think 50$ difference between the two.

  11. From what I've gathered, (not saying much) easy unlocking isn't an issue at all, some would say it is preferred. When it is "locked up" the barrel shouldn't move in the slide.

Watch atlas gunworks YouTube videos, he talks about easy unlocking of the barrel.

I think if it is hard to rack the slide whether the hammer is cocked or not the barrel isn't fitted correctly and will wear into place by firing the gun which kind of batters it into the final fitting. This will result in a looser fitting gun in The long run compared to a gun fitted corectly from the start. When I read locks up like a vault I don't correlate that to being hard to Unlock the barrel from the slide. That's my take on it. I'm also curious to what others have to say.

  12. Why would loading a mag with "tight springs" and leaving it for a while make them easier to load after some time under compression if it has no effect on spring life?

I had some single stack mags that were tough to load the 10th round and tough to seat. I left them loaded for a week or two and they seat much easier now. That is my go to when it comes to tough springs in single stack mags. Everyone says leaving them under pressure has no effect on spring life. It seems to make them have less spring per say thats for sure.

  13. Had this issue once and bought a new pin and the reverse thread drill bit from dawson. Not sure if the drill bit fixed it or the new pin but I ran the drill bit through (even though it was already drilled) and popped the new pin in and viola problem solved.

No tricks or faking it here. From what I can tell, the 2 shots that seem to hit high on the backstop hit the ground first and ricocheted up.

I have to agree with what is said above. I noticed they appear to ricochet off the ground the first time I watched the video.

Hogue thick grips make it the same as a 2011. I have them on a 22/45 and they are the same as my 2011's.

I took this advice and found some Hogue Grips on amazon for $20 and they make my 1911 feel like my 2011. They were advertised as 9/32" thick grips but the package read 5/16"

I was planning on lathering them with silicon carbide but they're surprisingly aggressive. They are aluminum and I'll have to weigh the gun to make sure its still legal but I recommend the hogue to anyone trying to get their 1911 to feel like a double stack and not break the bank.

  16. The crimp doesnt hold the bullet in place. The neck tension from sizing holds the bullet. Switch to a lee sizing die and see if that solves your problem. I had setback problems with a hornady die specifically with Montana gold bullets, switched to a u die and never had that problem again. A regular Lee die should size better though. might not need a u die.

  17. Is an accidental discharge or whatever you want to call it (negligible etc.) shooting while not aiming at a target, Is that a DQ? even if it hit the berm, In my mind that should be DQ-able no? I seriously dont know which is why im asking the question and the video is a perfect example of what I would call an accidental discharge. Not trying to ruffle feathers, I am just curious.
