  1. I scored a 1050 for a good price and went with Mark 7 , Their latest option LTE which theyre calling a Consumer grade is what I went with because Im cheap but I like cool stuff. Loads 9 major at 1200 rds an hour and puts a smile on my face while doing so. That is unprocessed mixed range brass. If I pre processed, running at 1500 rds an hour would probably also be a breeze.

Shmella, are you saying that your gun is staying on target and the only thing slowing you down is your physical ability to work your trigger finger?  Lord, I wish I had that problem!  My fingers will do the occasional .10 and easily get .11, but the rest of me is nowhere near that speed on a consistent basis.  Sub 2.0 is pretty good shooting and Gooldy doing it in 1.54 is just ....freak of nature type stuff.

Essentially yes lol. Gun on target riping as fast as the trigger finger would go but was surprised by how slow that actually was lol. Draw was a little on the slow side 1.1- that could definitely come down (first time shooting a 2011 with a Deltapoint pro) maybe .18-.20 isnt a crazy slow split but it sure didnt sound too fast. Maybe I watch too many vids of ppl burning it down and expect to hear a machinegun like noise and see all alphas.

Editing to add: At the same time no. I have only live fire shot maybe 15 Bill drills ever so I dont think that is enough to say that my finger is the only thing holding me back from going faster. Lets just say the expectation I had of my fingers ability to go fast did not meet the outcome.

  3. Fyi to anyone who cares, the LTE loads 9 Major no problem using Silhouette, AUtocomp with little to no powder spilling at all. Im running it with an FFB shell plate and didnt really attempt to "tune" it all that much. No bearing kit installed either so maybe that would help the index snap a little more as well. 7-7.6 Grains of Sillhouette and maybe one or two flake/granules will jump out of the case. That is running at regular index. Slow index option seems to help too. I was also loading at 1200 RDS per hour.

  4. I think it is the magazine that bites the bullet. I believe I read a post on here explaining it. I noticed the same thing Yesterday with a Blue Bullet after ejecting a loaded round. Slight bite on the bullet. I dont remember if the thread pointed to a solution to the problem. I didnt think to check my STI mags to see if it does the same thing but It happened in my 2011 with an MBX mag yesterday.

  5. I load 125Gr. BLue bullets with WST to shoot knock down steel matches. Works good for me. I like this powder better than Titegroup, doesnt get your gun piping hot like TG does and is cleaner. Fills the case more and almost impossible not to spot a double charge. 4.2 Grains puts me in the 120-128 PF range. Id have to chrono again to confirm what exactly though.

  6. Just shot my new open gun for the first time yesterday in 30degree weather when the sun was going down. Figured what better way to put it to work than to shoot a couple Bill Drills. Shot 4 runs all under 2 seconds but just barely 1 C and the rest A's in 1.8-2seconds on 4 runs. I sighted it in first then went right to them, My index was slightly off since I had no dryfire time with it properly sighted in. I'm going to work these here and there to see how close I can come to you ballers running these crazy fast times. I dont know if it was the cold hindering my splits but it felt like I was capped at a measly .20 split range.

yes you can adjust it. pull the brass button from the 11 o clock position, look behind/under it on the press frame, there is a slot machined there. inside is a set screw that adjusts shell plate travel. back it off a few turns then work it back in until the shell plate indexes properly.

Finding your post on this was as good as finding gold. This fixed all the issues I was having. Im still confused as to why I couldnt find this magical screw on Dillons website concerning indexing on a 1050. Even in this post it wasnt mentioned before you. Anyways adjusting this screw solved all my problems. two thumbs up.

I am having a similar problem I believe. Mine indexes fully sometimes but intermittently will not fully index and the rod that goes through the shell plate forces it into the position flinging powder sometimes. I am going to look for what is described above to see if that works. I can loosen the shell plate and it indexes fully then but that defeats the purpose of buying an FFB shellplate IMO.

  9. I played around with my new bedazled open gun last night with a PT Evo grip and their aggressive must not be nearly as sharp as Infinity's. I thought it was well textured but wasnt painful at all. And I have desk hands. I dryfired (more like walked around my house with it in my hands and pointed at things) last night for at least 2 hours and my little girly hands are still typing this with no pain or cuts this morning. I practiced Draws and some reloads and thought it was a good amount of grip but cant be nearly as aggressive as SV because it wasnt uncomfortable at all. Also the "needles" are shallower near the top than the bottom. Where  your thumb and index finger would come across the grip is not as aggressive as where the meat of your hand would sit. So long story short tell infinity to use an Evo grip lol.

Sorry to hear to you guys have to consider these choices, however I can hit a reload much faster and more consistently with a 2011 than a 1911. Lot's of options with the 2011 platform for open not so much for 1911 at the moment and perhaps even down the road the resale of a 2011 open gun will likely be better in the long run.

Yup agreed. Reloads with a 2011 vs 1911 are night and day. Most people including myself feel a 2011 fits the hand better as well. There are different grip options for a 1911 but I always liked a double stack 2011 much better in terms of how it felt in the hand and the more control I feel I have with a 2011 vs a 1911 with regular sized grips.

You are correct that I'm racing the clock, but mainly I'm just trying to finish the drill as quickly as possible.  I'm attempting to get faster by spending a lot of time practicing in Steve Anderson's "speed mode," so I'm just looking for flashy sight pictures (if the target appears in the glass, it's good enough) and getting two trigger presses on each target.  I'm just trying to get my body used to what it feels like to go that fast, and the more I do it, the more I'm seeing during each drill.

I also do this drill some in "match mode" where I increase the par time (or just use a start beep with no par time) and make sure I get good shots on each target.  I think that's more along the lines of what you're thinking.  I definitely feel like match mode practice (at the end of every live and dry fire practice) keeps me ready for upcoming matches.  In the past I spent too much time only in speed mode and that ended up bleeding over into some matches.

After watching the video in slow motion, I see what you mean about sometimes stopping 4 times.  There are only 3 targets in the drill so I'm not sure why I did that.  Maybe I pulled off the first target after the first trigger pull, so I paused after a short movement to get in the second pull?  That's puzzling.  Thanks for noticing that.

Ahh I see, Speed mode. I saw the reference but didnt make the connection. Do you have Ben's Dryfire book? I liked Anderson's but after reading and using Ben's I ditched Steve's. I just personally felt Ben's clicked more for me. Maybe I should go back and try reading steves again and see if I get more out of it.

  12. Take this with a grain of salt because I am not a GM in any division ( I plan to be though :) ) and youre probably better than me but it looks like youre racing the clock in this video. Sometimes it looked like the gun stopped at 4 positions and was rushed to the last position to beat the second beep. TO ME 3.5 sec el prez is super fast but ONLY IF youre calling A's or close C's. It sort of looked like you were stopping the gun at a few spots (3 sometimes 4) then hitting a reload and doing it again. My advice is, look to a target and drive the dot to where youre looking,  then move on to the next. But stay honest with the shot calling.  If it were me and I wasnt calling good hits, Id dial it back until I could consistently hit them in the par time and work the time down from there. I enjoy watching your videos and follow you on Instagram, keep up the good work!

  13. I noticed the same swing in weights noted

As I prep to start shooting PCC I decided to check out Blue Bullets to see if there was a significant cost savings for me.  Turns out there is so I ordered a sample pack of 250 125g RN to try.  Also gave 25 to friend who is interested in them as well.  He weighed them last night in preparation of making some and here's what he found:

    low 123.5

    high 128.8

    median 126.2

Since I'll be using these most likely exclusively for Steel Challenge that variation doesn't worry me too much as I'll be loading a fair bit above minor since I have an Gen II MPX. For use as a USPSA Production bullet that amount of variation would seem to be a concern.  Anyone else see this with their Blue Bullets?

I plan to load so the lowest weight I find in a batch of 25 makes PF. I highly doubt it is perceivable so as long as the lightest bullet makes PF I don't put too much thought into it.

  15. I'll update on this because I ran mine for the first time last night. I havent ran a Mark 7 before so I cant compare the index speed to an actual number. But with index on, the index is incredibly slow. Even with it off it is slow enough that you could probably run it like that and load with no issues. I'll play around with that some to see which works better.

Like said above, basic machine controls. Rounds per hour, stop, Run, Home, and Calibrate. There is no forward reverse. "Run" obviously runs it. "Home" returns the tool Head to the top of the stroke. You have to Stop the press via "STOP" then press home and it will return to the top of the stroke without completing the stroke where ever you decide to stop it during a cycle. Very basic and the price is right in my opinion, satisfies the market I fall into. I believe it will do everything I want from an autodrive without having to upgrade but its nice to know the option is there to go to an X or PRO if desired. I'll play around with the clutch settings and process brass and load rounds as well and update.

  16. :P JK I dont even understand what makes a hate rant a rant and what turns it into a discussion. I have noticed almost every hate rant ever to exist turned into a discussion at some point and got locked down.

  17. I'll add I had reliability issues with using the method of glueing a spent primer to the punch. It pushes the punch too far up and eventually gets stuck and doesnt reliably retract to the original position and the primer shuttle gets caught on the punch not allowing it to feed the next primer. I would recommend filling the base of the nut/primer punch mechanism to allow it to thread deeper into the press. A little more involved but a more reliable permanent fix instead of a bandaid.
