I think no matter what each person's preference is, we should all be grateful for the variety of grips available to the shooter. It's obvious that each of us has a personal preference and/or a certain tolerance to the aggressive milling. Heck, some people don't even like metal grips at all.
I agree, Im trying to make the point that you wont know until you try it yourself. 3gunDQ says stay away from aggressive and tactical is where its at, Gooldy says tactical is for wussies. you wont know yourself until you feel it in person.

These are the reactions I was referring to earlier. The micropockets dont seem to offer much other than cosmetics just by looking at them, Looks very smooth. But again you have some (72Stick) who swear they are as rough as a coral bed and wouldnt want anything more aggressive.....

If the bottom of the tube is out of spec that certainly will happen

wanta know how I know ?
I have to agree they must be just plastic, and dropping them on hard surfaces seems to do the trick. I dont think out of spec tubes or in spec tubes really matters.

After seeing many posts talking about this same thing I still cant wrap my head around this subject. Some will swear by the aggressive and some claim they draw blood. How does one claim they cant dryfire for more than 12 draws without bleeding, and another person say they dryfire and live fire on a regular basis with the same grip and wouldn't have it any other way?? I have only held one aggressive grip and I was surprised by how mild it was compared to the hype I've read on here saying they are unbearably needle like. Maybe the grip I held had been slightly sanded down to take the sharp points down, I don't know. I have an open build being delivered in the next week and went with the new evo grip which is only available in aggressive. This question really can swing both directions and seems to be mostly preference. Some people like sugar in their coffee, some people like A LOT of sugar, some like it Black, Some think it is disgusting altogether.
My suggestion is similar to how I would recommend trying coffee for the first time. Go with the aggressive and if you really hate the bite, start knocking down the sharpness with filing stones and sand paper until it is just right. you can keep sanding and filing until the sharp points are not as sharp as before, but if you start with a smooth grip all you can really do at that point is slap grip tape on it. Kind of like trying coffee Black and if you hate that, add cream and sugar till the point you like it. The non aggressive micro pockets to me are just cosmetic. I have seen plenty of grip tape over Tactical pockets which tells you something.

If the "pads are just plastic" is referring to Grams BP's, they are Delrin. As long as the tube is within size specs where the pad attaches then it is just as durable as the alum. pads everyone else manufacturers. The key is the tube within specs, most (STI, SV,SPS) are not. Meaning the u-pin that grams has to hold the pad onto the tube has to slide in place onto the mag just as easy (or the same amount of friction, however, it makes more sense) as if you were sliding the u-pin into an empty bp.
I got some pads used and two had cracks in them. The first time dryfiring with them they both shattered when they hit the ground. I dont know how many times these were dropped but they cant be as durable as the aluminum because I dont see the Aluminum shattering when hitting a carpeted surface no matter how many times you drop them.

Nobody going to take note of the fact that he's using federal primers? The softest primer out there, and using it for 9major. of course there're going to be flat. Fed primers out of my 929 revolver shooting minor are completely flat. while some other factors such as the concaved breechface on the revo might attribute to that, the fact that federals are the softest primer you can buy I would assume that has something to do with it.

We got a bunch of debbie downers here. Go shoot the match, Max Michel showed up with a camera crew which aired on T.V. in 2011 A7 along with some other big name shooters and he shot OPEN. OPEN/OPEN not OPEN 10..... I live in MA and I'm shooting OPEN.

I will say it is very intimidating and I can see how it is amost impossible to get into it without having known someone who is into shooting competitively. I started shooting competitions about 3-4 years ago and that is only because some friends I made at work shot competitions (steel challenge/knock down steel and some uspsa)got me into it. I shot uspsa for the first time last season and after a taste it is all I want to shoot now. Starting off it is super intimidating and I don't think I would have ever got into it without the friends I had who were regular shooters and who were supportive and would coach me through matches for a while. I wouldn't even consider attending matches without them there. I have recently got a friend into shooting competitions who always wanted to shoot competitively but never had someone introduce him into it. Without someone inviting you to a match its hard to know what to bring or how to take the first step into shooting any kind of shooting competitions. Anyways that's my rant. Happy New Years. Actually I have another friend who saw a post on my instagram and has been pestering me about shooting some kind of shooting competition so I guess it comes down to personality type as well. Some people want to compete some people don't have the desire. *I'm editing this to say if I dived into uspsa first before shooting any other kind of starter competition like steelchallenge/ local knockdown steel matches, I probably would have pooped my pants lol. Stand and shoot is a lot easier to get into as a newb.

I saw that and am equally unimpressed....with an effort that small I thought he might have something decent to sell to make up for it. I guess not

9x45, some of the additional safety rules are no running with a loaded gun (must have magwell empty and slide locked back before you move) and no jacketed bullets on steel. BTW, very, very few regular USPSA shooters participate because of the extra rules. I don't really care. I figure if I/we teach our shooters the "official" rules, they are better served when they do decide to compete in sanctioned matches.
This sounds like how I vision Idpa to be like... Unenjoyable. ( FYI I know literally nothing about idpa and dont ever plan on learning)

I want to get a Daa/crspeed style belt for my girlfriend to set up a rig for her but I dont know what size to get. I have never measured her waist but she is pretty small lol. Im on the slender side myself and use a 32-34" belt and that is very big on her. What size options are there out there for Junior/female sizing?

I also live in MA. Go to any match in MA and there will be much more limited shooters than Lim10.. Just saying. I am shooting Open next season. Not open 10...

I have two old style 9/38 140's that I recently acquired and the feed lips seemed extremely tight. .300 front to back and one was .297 front to back. I adjusted my sti Feed lips following the Dawson DVD. These are so tight (comparing to the Sti mags) I'm afraid to try and work them. After reading this post I'm going to just try them and see how they work. So is this normal and the general consensus is to just leave them alone?

If you have all the stations full of brass, it's impossible to make a squib on a 550 without also making a round with no bullet. You can only make a squib if you index the shell plate twice before pulling the handle, this would also create a round where you didn't seat a bullet. Pour your newly loaded ammo into another Akro bin and look for loose powder before gauging.I dont own a 550, all im saying is ive read on here many different threads where a 550 was involved and a squib or double charge was the result. If you search through this forum and find every squib or double charge and tally up what press was used I will put money on the 550 being at the top of the list. Statistics was what I was going on, not actually breaking down how to run a 550.
Hornady LNL does not seat primers below flush
in non-Dillon Reloading Equipment
Posted
When I had a LNL I glued a spent primer to the bottom of the primer seat rod thing. It allowed the primers to seat slightly below flush. The thickness of the primer is how flush. Also there is a thread somewhere that shows what others have done which involved filing the primer punch where the nut meets the base of the press so it could thread ever so lightly more into the press. I saw someone take the primer punch and place it in a drill and locked the drill into a vice then took a file to the nut and turned the drill on so the filing was evenly spread. Hope that makes sense and gives you an idea.
