  1. Not sure if this helps but if you chrono your load, when I go back to the shop I can tell you where you need to hit on paper @25 yards to be zeroed at 100 or whatever range you want. Of course any error at 25 is greatly magnified at longer distances so it is preferable to zero at the range you want your zero. Anyway, if that's what you need, shoot me a PM.
  2. What are the specs on that mag tube?
  3. Thanks for letting me hijack your thread and thanks for the responses guys.
  4. So they all work well; if my priorities are ordered as follows, which is the best fit for me (or is it a wash)? 1. Minimal muzzle blast 2. Reduced muzzle movement 3. Reduced felt recoil Obviously we want brakes that help us play the game, but the game is no fun if you have a splitting headache at the end of the day, so I want something that will help my gun shoot flatter but with minimal muzzle blast. I know a totally different type of muzzle device is best for reducing blast, but which of these comps is the best at it?
  5. Most of the posts I found when researching this recently recommended a 13lb recoil spring. Some recommended the 12 or 14 lb wolff springs and a few use the 11lb spring. I went with a Jaeger SS guide rod and the 13lb spring in my Gen4 G34, and I'm happy with it. I did also go to a 4.5lb striker spring. With the stock (5.5lb) striker spring and 13lb recoil spring, it was on the edge of "safe" based on the OOB test - no issues with the lighter striker spring. Just for giggles, my gun has the stock trigger return spring, reduced power safety plunger spring, 4.5lb striker spring, polished gen3 trigger bar/FPS/"-" connector. Trigger pull weight is 3.25 - 3.5 lbs. Doesn't feel as nice during dry fire as the Zev kits I've fondled but when shooting at pace I do not notice the extra pre and over travel. I will probably move to a Johnny Glocks/DK/Zev trigger at some point, but it likely won't impact my times as I'm not competing at a high level anyway.
  6. I had thought about getting one of these in the past (m3000) due mostly to this thread, but then I decided I'd buy an M2 when the time was right and because I can get a ridiculously good price on one (next month or two). Now the M3K is making my decision hard - save money and get a good gun or spend more and get the best the first time...
  7. Oh man, now you've done it. Sorry wallet, looks like you're taking another one for the team.
  8. I'm trying to order a WRS holster for my G34 but am having trouble navigating the various belt attachments. I either want the Duty D/OS G2 or the WRS D/OS ASR. Does anyone know what belt size the Duty D/OS G2 is made for? It doesn't look like the 3" duty loop, but I'm not sure if it is appropriate for a 1.5" comp belt. I know the ASR would work but would prefer not to fiddle with the ASR shims.
  9. I've got a Gen4 G34 on the way which I plan to use for idpa/uspsa/steel. My current load is a 147gr bullet at ~132PF. Is this load with the stock RSA likely to cycle the gun reliably? I want to resist the temptation to start modding out a new gun (I'm pretty new to competitive shooting anyway) but I'm also not going to buy factory ammo to make it cycle properly either. Should I go ahead and get the Jager SS rod and a 15lb spring? I wouldn't want to go too low on the recoil spring and risk OOB firing, and I wasn't planning on doing a lighter weight striker spring yet (again, don't want to mod it out too much before I even shoot it). If the gun will likely cycle reliably with my loads then I'll just leave it as is for now.
  10. When i try to emulate the "pinch grip" on my Gen 3 G19 that Vogel demonstrates in the video above, my trigger finger barely reaches the trigger. As in the tip of my right index finger is only contacting the right half of the trigger, just barely enough to depress the trigger safety. My grip feels higher on the gun and with the combination of rotational pressure my sights move less during dry fire with this method but I can barely reach the trigger. Am I doing it wrong?
  11. I appreciate the input from everyone. The decision has been made. I've been shooting the last couple weeks with my G19, and will continue to do so until I pick up a G34. Not sure when that will happen, I'm not really in a rush and am trying to keep from worrying about equipment. I've briefly played with the VP9. Nice pistol. I'm not going to get used to the mag release position. Not saying that I can't get used to it, just choosing not to. I've got too many other pistols with the button type release and I'm not switching to HK everything so the VP9 is out. If I wasn't invested in other pistols it would be a great choice, and it is a great choice for new shooters.
  12. Whoops, got my disciplines mixed up; what I meant was that if I shoot an SP-01 in ESP it has to be SSP legal due to the full length dust cover, so the available mods would be restricted. I suppose a cz75 wouldn't have this problem, and of course it wouldn't be an issue for USPSA. I'd hadn't considered potentially dropping one in the future, that would make the gun choice much easier. Drinking from a firehose is right; I know I'm trying to do a lot by shooting 4 different types of comps but that is what is available to me in my area. My day is Sunday and it turns out that in my area each month there is one Sunday IDPA match, one Sunday USPSA match, one steel match and one multigun match on different weekends. Thanks guys, you've helped me get a bit of clarity on the issue. I guess I just really have a case of "shiny new toy syndrome." I'll shoot the G19 for a while and let the gun issue work itself out over time.
  13. Sorry guys if this has been covered over and over again. I'm new to action pistol shooting (duh) and still fairly confused about divisions and what gun is best for what. I understand the divisions themselves and the guns/calibers that tend to be competitive in each but I'm having a hard time figuring out what gun I should get as a dedicated competition pistol. I'm going to be shooting IDPA, USPSA, 3 gun and steel matches (one of each per week, different sundays every month), and perhaps an additional IDPA match each week on my other day off work. That being said, I don't really want to set the gun up specifically for IDPA just because I might shoot it more often - I think I'll have more fun in 3 Gun and USPSA. I have it in my head that I want to shoot Limited and ESP, but perhaps I will end up in SSP and Production depending on gun choice. Guns I am considering: top choices as of right now are XDM 5.25 and CZ 75/SP-01. I'd love to shoot an Edge or Infinity but don't really want to spend that kind of cash right now, besides a bushingless gun wouldn't work for IDPA anyway. Glock 34/35 is a distant 3rd, I'm not really in love with Glocks but they work and I can shoot them OK. I'd like to stick with 9mm right now because all my pistols are 9 or 45 and I'm not too worried about being competitive in Limited for the first couple years. XDM and CZ are top of the list because I shoot them well and they fit my hands nicely - I get to shoot each of them regularly and they perform the same for me. Of course the XDM can't be shot in SSP, so I might as well mod it up for ESP/3gun. The CZ has it's own set of issues - if I go with the SP-01 only certain mods would be allowable as it would have to meet Production rules, so perhaps the 75b would be better here.... Anyone want to help me sort it out? For the first month or two of shooting I'm just going to use my Glock 19 because A.) I already have it, B.) I have plenty of mags and a holster for it and C.) I can shoot it reasonably well.
