  1. What kind of media will get stainless 1911 magazines super shiny? I could use a buffer but don't have access to one. My 1911 mags seems to take a beating and aren't very slick anymore on the sides. Thoughts?
  2. Anyone else think that 158 cast load data looks a little hot for use in 165's?
  3. By the rules, should have been clear before anyone walked down range. With that said, Nearly every club match I have shot, will have the competitor holster and wait while someone tapes real quick. Right answer, No but I also shoot with guys that have been doing it for a long time so I'm not worried about getting shot in the back.
  4. If you don't mind me asking, what are the specs on the motor you bought? I wouldn't mind spending 100 bucks or less on one.
  5. So here is the deal. I have a case pro 100, and two big electric motors. I have a bunch of pulleys and pillow blocks. Even some metal for the shafts. The motors are 1125 rpm. One is 1/4 horsepower 110v and the other is 1/8 horsepowder at 1150 rpm, also 110v. My idea is to put a 1.5 inch pulley on the motor, run it to a intermediate shaft with a 10 inch pulley. Then another small 1.5 inch pulley with a belt running to a 10 inch pulley on a shaft. At the end of the shaft I will put the arm to push the case pro back and forth. Anyone ever done something like this? I looked into the air method and buying a different motor but I have 90% of the things I need already. Possible concerns: Belt slip from case pro needing to much force. Guessing I need around 20 RPM on the pulley running the case pro. Does this seem right? I think that's the same the ponsen warren autodrive runs. I can go slower if it would work better but the pulley size starts getting a little crazy for mounting purposes after 12 inches. Thoughts?
  6. In my 6 months of experience, I only liked shooting minor at the florida open. It had a ton of options when it came to shooting stages and shooting minor was pretty sweet. Every other match I have shot, I preferred major scoring. Just something to consider.
  7. Longer dust cover and the notoriety that goes with having a stock 2
  8. Looking for someone who builds a 5.4 SS gun and also a 5.4 bushing gun. Any ideas? Also anyone know a company that sells just the 5.4 slides for a bushing gun? I put a quote in with Infinity but just looking at my options. If anyone has pics of an infinity single stack 5.4 gun, I would love to see them.
  9. I really like my STI Trojan in .40. It runs and runs but you can't load much longer than 1.170. I loved my range officer in .45 and would have used that more if it was a .40. I just didn't have the components to reload .45 as easily. Edit: The Finish on the Trojan sucks. Range officer was better. No experience with the sigs.
  10. Something I have found that helps is doing your best not to think about a classifier any differently. I try to shoot with friends that joke around a lot so I'm relaxed when it is my turn to shoot. I find that if I think about the classifier and what I want to do, I bomb it. Cha-lee has some awesome points.
  11. The case pro still needs a sizing die. I tested a batch of 50 with a case gauge to see if I could skip. 90% were fine but the other 10% needed sized. Since you have to deprime at some point, you might as well size them.
  12. Welcome to the forums. There is a lot of great reloading advice here. I second the mention of OKCGC and also Tulsa has USSA. Both put on awesome USPSA, 3gun and ICORE matches. If you want to, check out boomershooter.com It is a forum for competitive shooting in Oklahoma and surround areas.
  13. Heaviest Hollowpoint was always my favorite. I used flat nose and they were good but hollowpoint took edge hits off the table where the flat point didn't. We shot 5 pins, off a 4 foot deep table. Pins were 12 inches from front with 15 yard distance from competitor. I actually used a 9mm with great success shooting 147 grain zero's with 3n38 at 168 power factor. Snapped like the dickens but it did the trick.
  14. Looking forward to checking it out. I may be moving to TN here shortly and I'll be in the area then.
  15. Post #5. That load came from one of xtreme's sponsored shooters. He shoots a g34 and a CZ. I started at 2.4 grains at 1.140 length and worked up to 2.6 as well.
  16. Thanks for the information. Any chance you could make a video of it running?
  17. Jmorris, I'm a newb at this so bear with me. Is the torque on the motor set collars acting as a clutch? So when the motor gets hungup, the set collars aren't tight enough to hold onto the motor or am I missing something?
  18. I'm wondering the same thing about automating. I would love to automate mine.
  19. Chad, Your doing a great job. You run a premiere match that I wish was closer. It's worth the 3 hour drive each way. I love to help but my closest club is 1.5 hours away. There is no way to come the day before for me. I'll help tear down in a heartbeat though and do my best to always thank the MD if I know who he is.
  20. I shoot a few 1911 / 2011's with very tight chambers. The case pro isn't necessary but it reduces my case gauge failure by almost 99%. I shoot range pick up brass so I like it. If you buy once fired brass or just throw out all the glocked brass, you won't need it. I figured the price was worth it since they don't lose much value even used.
  21. If you get a lunch break, I would clean the rails, and feed ramp at least. Magazines also if you drop them a lot. Otherwise a more thorough cleaning at night. I typically clean halfway through a major match and it's only 300 rounds typically.
  22. Maybe I shoot with a bunch of dicks, but if you don't paste or reset targets and your not cleaning mags or within 4 people of shooting, you WILL get called out. I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm thankful someone is willing to setup and run matches. I drive a couple hours each match so setup isn't possible but I do help teardown.
  23. Have you case gauged the rounds? Sounds like the brass isn't resized properly. The setback could be too little crimp on the bullet or just the fact it has a stiff recoil spring and nose diving rounds.
  24. I'm looking for pics of barrel feed ramps that work great for you. What barrel, mags and length of ammo would be great. Also if any reliability or ramp tuning has been done. Looking for a top down pic that shows the barrel ramp and frame. Most barrels seem to leave a gap between the ramp and the magazine ramp. I'm just wondering if that is only my experience or pretty common. Thanks for the help.
  25. If you have never shot a major and are looking to be competitive in your class, I would pick the major. If you aren't worried about competing at a very high level in your class, then spend the money on ammo. You could easily practice your way up a class or two with 1k. I went to my first major last week. It was eye opening in so many ways. I did fine at the shooting portion but it killed me mentally and on movement tasks. It showed me how you can be an A on paper and get killed by C shooters who move better.
