  1. I've had a well used Palmetto State A2 rifle lower lock up 3 times and not be able to cycle. After I got it apart, the buffer retaining pin had stopped retaining the buffer. The stock screw to tighten it had worked loose. I always thought that pin had to be there. I'll have to take another look at this one and see exactly what was causing the stoppage. It wasn't an immediate action type of stoppage, it was a broken gun type of stoppage. Interesting, I'll revisit that one.
  2. +1 on the Stephen Hunter books about the Swagger family.
  3. I've been very happy with my 16" LaRue PredatAR barrel. They are $225 right now. It is very lightweight and definitely very accurate.
  4. I picked up a Marvel .22 conversion and a used Range Officer in .45. I guess I'll start practicing and see how it works out. Maybe I'll make it out to Perry in a year or two.
  5. Yeah, the classified section is the place. Always some good deals there.
  6. I'm closing in on 5000 rounds through mine since I got it earlier this year. I'm a huge fan. Mine is a no mag-guide and no trigger job model. I shoot the M9 in military competitions, so I didn't want the trigger to be too nice and spoil me. This is a great pistol.
  7. I've always been an Aimpoint guy: m2, pro, and then the T-1 and T-2. The T-1 and T-2 are great, lightweight and I can leave them on forever. I would like to try an MRO just because though.
  8. Interesting. I've been thinking about upgrading to a roller, but I don't dislike the regular handle. I rarely load more than 200 rounds at a time though.
  9. If you ever make it out to Nellis AFB in Vegas, you have to check out the Nellis Gun Club. I spent 7 weeks there a couple months ago and their range is amazing. For rifle, they have steel out to 1000 yards. For pistol, they have three big bays out to 50 yards, steel targets, target stands, and dueling trees. Great place and great staff. I was shooting 4 days a week the whole time I was there, shot a couple steel matches too. Check it out if you ever get the chance. Also, Sin City Precision Rifle Club is there in town too, if you are into that.
  10. I've always heard a lot about adjustable gas blocks, just not much about the keys. I'll have to look into it a little more. Looking at it, I question the reliability. I'll have to read more about it.
  11. Interesting, different than the normal mil EIC matches. Congratulations on the leg points. I'm should be halfway there myself, hopefully I can finish it up next year.
  12. I am also interested in starting to shoot Bullseye. Camp Perry and making the President's 100 would be the end goals. Anybody have any input on the pistols to make this happen. I've been reading about it, but always looking for good ideas. Right now I'm looking at some of the options on the .22: S&W 41, Volquartsen Scorpion, Ruger 22/45, or a Marvel conversion. Then for the 1911, maybe a range officer, or if I can find a deal for something used and ready to go.
  13. Are you active or AIr Guard? I shoot mil EIC with some Air Guard guys from Missouri. If you are guard, I could probably get you a POC.
  14. Yeah, I've been carrying my Brigadier Tactical every day since I finally got my JM Custom holster early last month. With the foam wedge and the raven wing, it's perfect.
  15. Yeah, I've been on here a couple years and have read a lot, posted little.
  16. Makes sense. Thanks for the clarification.
  17. Very true, I have BCM 13" kmr on one of my ARs. I was out shooting a lot in Vegas for a couple months earlier this year and they would hear up enough I had to wear gloves after 50 rounds.
  18. I'm running the same barrel and my AR is overgassed. I was thinking adjustable gas block also and had a couple questions. How often do you adjust the gas block? I would think that once it is set where you want it, you wouldn't move it? Is it just moved for changing loads or adding a suppressor?
  19. I'm looking for one as well to put on an extra lower I have laying around. I need to build a complete 20" A3 type clone for practice.
  20. I have a LaRue Predatar barrel in one of mine. It is very lightweight and I have pushed it out past 600 yards. I've been very happy with it.
  21. I am in Boonville and drive through Columbia on my way to work everyday. I'm going to have to check out Green Valley. I know there are informal shoots in Jefferson City on Thursday nights: at the Sportsman's Club during the summer and Ammo Alley in the winter.
  22. Are you looking for specifically reloading or other shooting books as well?
  23. Seems like a great start. After you shoot it some, you'll know what you like about it and what you don't.
