I would like to get a fiber front sight for my TS. CGW states that the front sight that they carry won't work with the stock rear sight and I would prefer to keep the rear sight. Anyone retain the rear sight and replace the front with a fiber? If so, what did you purchase?

On Stoeger advice, I took a class from him and he was all over me about how freakin slow I was to shoot after transitioning. I told him I was shooting as fast as I had the shot aligned. He called horse pucky and had me transition while he pulled the trigger on MY gun. Of course the transitions were insanely fast and at the end I assumed I had missed every target because I "hadn't seen my sights". We looked at the targets and they were all As or close Cs. I am still pretty slow on transitions, but I now know that isn't my gun speed, but rather my eyes and processing speed. Still tons to work on there, but I see it in my match videos now and it drives me insane. On a side note, it is insane how fast that man can pull off an accurate shot when he isn't even holding the gun. I can't imagine working the trigger on a gun that I am not holding. Crazy skill that man has.

Would make sense since I got quite a bit of dirt in the hammer. My first reaction was to rack the slide to try and clear it and I may have drive some dirt that I can't see easily into the wrong places. I have an ultrasonic cleaner for pistol cleaning. I'll clean the frame inverted and report back. Honestly, I was surprised that something internal could have broken. When I looked at it I was surprised my holster wasn't broken and figure maybe my rear sight got knocked out of whack, but did not think internal damage would be possible.

My forearm has a pretty good case of road rash. I learned something. As an RO after you do your normal walkthrough and have your stage plan down; you then need to walk the stage as an RO and look for issues. This stage had me chasing a shooter from the left side of the bay to the right side of the bay directly on his 180 as he ran around a wall. Didn't see that until I went around the wall behind him and thought "oh, crap! I am on his 180 here". The next thought was "why am I on the ground?". The stage designer used an L bracket to support the wall and the lower part of the bracket was in the pathway I was trying to follow to stay off the shooters 180. They should have used one of the foundation stakes that we have so there was nothing protruding from the wall creating a trip hazard in the stage. I let the MD know about the issue and warned the next squad about the trip hazard. Thanks for the pics and I hope to get this solved quickly so I can get it back into action.

UPDATE: I put the frame upside down in my ultrasonic cleaner and two minutes later I had double action back. Thanks to everyone for the support. Really appreciate it and I am very happy that I didn't even have to buy any parts. I took a big fall this last Sunday while RO'ing another shooter. My SP01 must have hit the ground on the rear sight since it and the hammer was caked in sandy mud. The pistol will only fire in single action now. My double action pull has no weight on the trigger at all. Need to crack it open to figure out what is wrong. I am not great with mechanical stuff, but I am hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction and maybe even make my life totally easy with a pic of what I might be looking for. I hope to dig into the problem tonight so if the answer isn't obvious I will follow up with some pics tonight if that might help someone spot my issue. I have a spare unmodified SP01 in my safe so I can always steal a part if needed.

Dry fire double action in front of a white wall and do nothing but watch that front site. With a firm enough grip and good trigger pull you can execute a double action pull in a single stage at the same level of accuracy as your single action shots. Two stage on the double action is too slow for competition.

I am in California and have all 10 round mags. I simply start each stage with a mag with a single round in my pocket. On load and make ready I insert that mag (the Barney mag) into the pistol and cycle the slide. Eject the now empty mag and insert a full 10 rounder from the back of my belt. As an FYI, a true Barney mag only has one round since it is a reference to Barney Fife from the Andy Griffith show. He was only allowed to carry one bullet on him since he was such a nut case.

The problem isn't the shooter; it's the RO. People are always going to try and figure out how to game a stage. It is the ROs responsibility to apply the USPSA rulebook fairly to all shooters to ensure equity in the competition. Shooters should have incurred a procedural per each extra shot fired in the string (9.4.5.1). Shooters also should have been assessed a procedural for each target insufficiently engaged in the earlier strings and then engaged in the later string per the stacked shot rule (9.4.5.3, Stacked shots (i.e. obviously shooting more than the required rounds on a target(s) while shooting other target(s) with fewer shots than specified in any string), will incur one procedural penalty per target insufficiently engaged in any string. This penalty will not be applied if the written stage briefing specifi-cally authorizes stacked shots.) Your RO should go back and do the class over again (assuming he is a certified RO in the first place).

You should get more mature people to design stages. This type of attitude will ruin your club. Now, if you want to setup something to screw with right handed shooters and advantage a lefty; I am all for that.

This. Find a match in your area this month... heck, this weekend if you can and go shoot it. You know enough to get started. Don't over think it or you will be a massive ball of nerves your first match. Just go and enjoy yourself while focusing on safety.

Not sure what rule any reputable RO could quote to justify a DQ. So long as they re-rack the slide to show the RO clear they are fine.

I recently purchased a TacSport .40 to use for next year when I jump back into L10. I live in CA so the 10 round issue is very real. Some of you may know that the TacSport 10 round mags have about an inch or so plastic base plate that they use to limit the mag capacity. I would like to add aluminum base plates, but can't find anyone making them for the 10 round mags. Ideally, it would completely replace the plastic portion, but I can't have it expand the mag capacity. Another acceptable solution would be for it to attach to the plastic portion. Anyone know someone that does this for this pistol?

How smooth is the draw on that? Looks like it mignt be a bit notchy. Also, is the tension adjustable? Price is certainly right.

Yowsers! That is some nice Kydex. Pretty expensive solution, but many they have some very cool stuff.

Can anyone provide guidance on a good comp holster for a CZ Tacsport 40? I reached out to Double Alpha (what I usually buy) and they don't have one for this pistol. I am looking for a standard holster, not a race rig and to add to the challenge I am left handed. Was wanting their PDR PRO-II. Plan on using it for L10 here in California (the land of dead high cap divisions).

I can say this, I had a really weak grip and had some serious accuracy issues when I moved from shooting a 1911 to a CZ. The 1911 trigger hides a number of sins. I have a "COC S" on my desk at work and use it a couple of times a day and my accuracy and shooting quality overall has improved dramatically with a reasonable improvement in my grip strength.

I ordered a set of palm swell grips from LOK in blue. They weren't on the site. Just email him and he'll do exactly what you want. Great to work with.

Video your reload practice so you can see your trigger discipline. When I switched to a new pistol I got a warning from a kind RO at one match. Went home and for the next week worked on my reloads. Started very slow with all of the focus on "where is my finger". When I got back up to full speed I video'd my reloads for about 10 minutes and when I watched the video the finger was correct on every one of them. I have never had another warning on a reload since. Do the same thing with a timed jam clear drill since I see people clearing their pistol with their finger in the trigger all the time even when they are excellent with their reloads. Most people don't practice that and it can get you DQ'd as well.

Poke yourself with a fork every time you call a "D" in dry fire. That might bring some focus and intensity to your practice.
