I built a Caspian double stack last year with EGW internals and did ZERO tuning. Just dropped them in. It breaks cleanly at 3-3.25lbs.

The Stoeger uses 1 pivoting shell latch instead of 2 alternating latches on the Benelli, and the carrier does not stay up on the Stoeger. For the price difference it might be worth paying a little bit extra for the Benelli. I asked the same question not too long ago and that is exactly what I was told.

I know you guys are out running RO's through...I was just curious if the prize table and awards were going to be Saturday night or Sunday morning? Thanks, Powderman81

Fastest powder with lowest charge weight?
Powderman81 replied to thompsoncustom's topic in 9mm/38 Caliber
I said generally, not every time. You can load whatever you like to make major. In your case you're shooting .40. Look at the Hodgdon data...you can use TG to make major but there are more (slower) powders listed that shoot faster than TG. Particularly with the heavy bullets. Take the 180gr BERB FP...it gives you 988fps @ 31900psi. There are six slower powders listed with that same bullet that will give you more velocity than that. If you look at all the rest of the bullet/powders combinations listed for the .40 TG is down towards the bottom in velocity on every one. I'm glad you can throw smaller amounts of powder and still make major. Powderman81 -

Fastest powder with lowest charge weight?

Fast powders are generally loaded with lighter bullets. You can't really load fast powders with heavier bullets because you get that pressure spike that you guys have been discussing. With the fast powder/heavy bullet combination you reach your peak pressure long before you get any real good velocity. It doesn't matter if you are talking about pistol or rifle loads; as you go more towards heavier bullets in any given caliber, you will see the powders listed are slower burning powders. Thank you for the reply, Sarge. I've contacted Matt and will be using him. Powderman81

Who would you guys recommend to cut a throat on a new Kart 9mm pistol barrel? The throat on it is short and fairly abrupt. I just want to get it lengthened out a bit. Thanks, Powderman81

I bought a slide stop off the classifieds last week; today I can't even see them. Powderman81 -
Up until last year I ran an Affinity for 3 years...it made it through some tough matches (Ironman, RM3G, TX Multi), but I got scared something was gonna break so I switched to a 1301. I can't seem to get the Beretta to pattern very well so I'm considering going back to the Affinity. You do have to run hotter shells to keep it running when you put more than 9-10 shells in the tube. I had C-Rums mod the lifter and put an XS sight on the rib for slugs. Its a great shotgun IMHO. Powderman81

XDM 5.25 Accuracy after 60,000 - 70,000 rounds.

Springfield will install a new "match" barrel for $190. If its really bothering you its not a bad idea. Powderman -
Squadding will be sent out the day after Labor day. I know this upsets a lot of people but you have to understand how many last-minute squad requests we get. We want to make sure everyone shoots with who they want if at all possible. You would be amazed at how many people send in squad requests for people that aren't even coming to the match. Its one of the biggest nightmares about putting on a match. Schedule will be sent out that same day. We will have registration at the range on Thursday as well as the match hotel later Thursday. We will also have registration Friday at the range at the stat shack. I'm looking forward to seeing everybody and hope you enjoy all of the hard work that goes into this!!! And by "the day after Labor Day" you mean the day after the day after? LOL.

When those loads are generated they are shot in a pressure test barrel...and the pressures they are getting are much lower than what your AR15 is rated for (.223 REM vs 5.56). If you know that your gun is setup correctly and doesn't have any issues (gas block lined up, balanced buffer/spring, etc), than you should be able to set your rifle up based on the ejection and how your primers look. If you work up your loads SLOWLY and pay attention to your primer faces and ejection you should be just fine. Powderman81

Alliant is owned and operated by ATK (Alliant Techsystems)...they posted revenues of 4.78 BILLION dollars in 2014. Do you still think Hodgdon is 3x its size? Each can of Hodgdon product says where it was made; Canada, USA, or Australia...its not that complicated. Powderman81

SP XDM 140mm Basepad - Anodized colors now in stock

I'd also be interested in some 170mm base pads for the XDm...they could even be pink and I'd still use 'em. -
Low Mass BCG Weights - Help me finish the chart
Powderman81 replied to Gentleman4561's topic in Rifle - Technical
I called them last Friday to ask about this...they told me about 3 weeks out right now. No price yet, but said it was a package deal with the BCG, lightweight firing pin, and gas washers. Looking forward to it. -
I talked to a gunsmith from JP@ Rocky Mountain 3 gun and also a guy from their customer service department after I got back. Both confirmed that its in the works. Maybe a late 2014, early 2015 release.
-
I talked to Aaron on the phone about them; he didn't mention selling just the carrier. They probably want to get the whole package out would be my guess. I'm in no hurry at this point and am interested to see the new aluminum carrier that JP has coming out. Powderman81

Which semi auto shotgun are you running for 3-gun
Powderman81 replied to Jesse Tischauser's topic in Shotgun - Technical
I just bought an Affinity. Funny ive never heard anyone say "I neverceoukd have won that match if it wasn't for those 1145fps shells." It never was an issue until I loaded up 350+ shells for Ironman this year. I chrono'd them at 1215fps and put 3 shells in the gun to check for function. It turns out it makes a difference with inertia ran autoloaders when there is 10 shells in the gun vs 3. I had to shoot and then hand cycle every other shell through the first stage. Not the guns fault...it was an oversight on my part. It has never given me any issues when I feed it good food. -

I ran a Franchi Affinity for 2 years with no problems; that includes 2 Ironmans, 2 Texas Multiguns, and 1 RM3G. Next year I'm running a 1301...it will actually shoot shells lighter than 1200fps reliably. LOL. Powderman81
