Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Thanks everyone. Norco is not too far from where I will be. Hopefully I will get a chance to go to their match.
  2. Does anyone know of a USPSA club in the Orange/Riverside/San Clemente, CA area. I will be in the area from about November 9 thru November 30 and would like to shoot some matches (just pistol) while in the area if possible. Would appreciate any contact names or numbers that you might know of. Thanks a lot.
  3. I lived in the St. Pete area for about 2 years and the humidity about did me in. Had to come back to the dry heat (New Mexico) where you just fry as opposed to being steamed. I take it that you are not concerned about humidity or heat when it comes to storing powder, primers, etc. Does that degrade your components or do you just shoot your ammo and use up your powder fairly quickly?
  4. A friend of mine suggested that I should deprime cases before cleaning in a tumbler. He does reload and I have not yet started reloading. He doesn't shoot as much as I do (I'm trying to talk him into USPSA and 3-gun) so he does not need as much ammo as I. I started depriming a bunch of shells that I have accumulated off the range, trying to get ready for a loader. A lot of cases have media stuck in the primer pocket so I have to clean that out as well. Seems very time consuming. Is depriming prior to cleaning a necessary step or is this one I can eliminate so I can load faster and shoot more often? Thanks for your input.
  5. I have noticed that a lot of you load in the garage, apartment, or somewhere attached to your dwelling. I have got a shed that I was planning to use, but don't have a way to control heat or cold (100 degrees to single digits in winter) or humidity. I also have a room that I can load indoors and alleviate those concerns. My concern is loading indoors and any safety measures I should take, like primers going off, etc. I sure would hate to have to look for a bridge to camp under. In fact the only bridge is over a railroad track and that doesn't sound too restful. If I am making to big a deal of this, just tell me to chill and start loading.
  6. Ya'll have sure given me a lot to think about. Maybe I should plan on both the Lee Classic and the Dillon 500. At this point, I shoot a lot more pistol than rifle. Use the Dillon for pistol and the Lee for rifle. Now if I can just talk my better half into that plan. Do the Lee Dies work well with the Dillon? I have read some good comments about the Lee dies, but not sure about any problems using them on Dillon. Thanks for all your responses.
  7. Thanks everyone for your input. I appreciate it. I think you have convinced me to save my pennies and go for the Dillon 550. Thanks to all for taking the time to help us novices progress along the right path. I believe I am really going to enjoy this sport. What more can you ask for: clear skies, a lot of sun, (from the Land of Enchantment, New Mexico), shooting, and hangin with a good group of people with something in common. I have some other questions, but will try to find the right forum or topic. Thanks again.
  8. Hey guys, my first post so let me apologize in advance for any lack of decorum or other infractions that newbies make. Let me know. I am new to reloading and have not shot much although I am getting involved in local (100 mile range) USPSA, IDPA, and 3-gun matches. My question is does anybody have any feedback on a Lee Classic 4 hole turret press and their powder measures, Competition Electronics ProChrono digital chronograph, RCBS 502 or 505 powder scales. Cost is a factor and I hate wasting money. Let me thank all you guys for your posts. I have sure learned a lot by just reading your posts on a variety of different topics.
