  1. Just shoot it an enjoy. You can drop mags on the go and with rounds still in them. Sounds silly but your going to be amazed at what is ingrained. USPSA tgts center are rectangular nor circular. Aim center high Don't wear your concealment YOU work out how to shoot the stage. You will not be told as precisely how to shoot it as is usually the case in IDPA. Economy of Motion is as hard a skill to master as sights. Small stuff like that. Also don't be surprised if Master in IDPA equates to around B in USPSA. Not besmirking your skill but it is what I have witnessed many times. Steven
  2. True so just run it as a side match that is not scored as part of your regular USPSA match. I am just starting to get folks interested in shooting steel at my club. I got a dueling tree and have instigated some 1on1 stuff. It is fun to see the better shooters flounder like a fish out of water <Evil laugh>
  3. Hmmm There may be a gray legal area here to exploit. You can purchase "parts" and then when the gun is assembled it might be more than the ring. According to BATF rules the frame is considered the gun right
  4. Ohh boy she must have a PHD from the soon-to-be-wives club. (PHD=Piled Higher Deeper). Sure it is all that now. Little known there is a secret additive to wedding cake that nullifies all those feelings. The low frequency sub carrier tunes in and they all march as one. Occasionally there is one where the immune system rejects the drug but they are quickly found out hunted down and ostracized for being abnormal. Funny thing. The antenna for the carrier wave seems to be the wedding ring itself. Because when it come sof after divorce there is a short term reversal of things until the next ring goes on. LOL! Mine got mad because I was working 12 hour shifts and pulling in beaucoup overtime for a year. I gave her all the regular check and half the overtime. I kept half for hobbies and such. She was free to spend the other as she wanted. She was still mad and did not understand why I kept 1/2 the over time out. She also got mad when I sold the car (an 8 year old heap) and bought her a brand new car for her birthday. Still don't understand that one. Of course I returned the new car and bought her old one back (at a 200.00 loss) and she was still mad. Later, Steven PS. Wise man once said: No matter how beautiful, wise, caring, or perfect she may be... There is a man somewhere that is tired of her ****. And just for your information.. NO I am not bitter about my Ex. LOL!
  5. Yes, but do they require use of seniority rather than merit for layoffs, and require documented reasons to fire you? Those of us in the private sector still deal with employment at will, and the total irrelevancy of seniority in layoff selections. Well in my little world I have seen folks "retired" but not layed off. Usually they offer an eraly out and it is taken. A RIF (reduction in force) is a different matter and it gets all kinds of messy. The DEMO process usually achieves it goals because after a couple of raise cycles at $0 dollars incentive (they still get Cost of Living) they get the idea and move on. At present it is usually back into a GS type slot where they were thriving. When NSPS goes online that option will be reduced. As for documented proof for firing... yeah they need documentation but much less than under the GS scale. Steven
  6. Did they take some pictures of ya while you were ther? Just wondering if you might show up on the next cover of Blue Press
  7. letargets.com offers rubber facing for steel targets that is SUPPOSED to eliminate splash. There is another thread on that here. If you have a runner system, you could lash down a drop turner to the runner. >) mgm makes some lollypoppers that are fun do you remember the electronic kids game simon? paint the "upper A/B" zones of 4 tgts different colors. have one shooter shoot a sequence of X shots. The next person has to follow. etc. etc. Or you could draw a sequence from a hat and have to perform. later, Steven
  8. There is hope... Lookup Lab Demo pay scale and the new NSPS personel system on the opm.gov website. The Lab demo is contribution based pay raises. It does away with the "Stay in the job long enough your garunteed advancement." They are eliminating the GS payscales. I have been under the lab demo for 4 years now and it is better but still not perfect. NSPS is a derivative of LAB demo. Thanks Precision40 for giving a no to THOSE OF US that do actually work and are civil servants.

  10. Well I just noticed something. I have been relaoding for years. I always had some sliptop case boxes, MTM cases, or styro to put my rounds into keep them organized. Lately I guess I have been reaching the point where I reload to much dang ammo to care about the boxes anymore. I have one 100 round that I drop the in to count and inspect but then they get dumped into a LARGE akrobin that holds ~2500 .45 or ~3500 .38sc. What I Like.. Not having to care about boxing ammo since I'm now able to shoot as much as I have always wanted to. (well almost)
  11. Yeah I know but this tree is staright up with only a few limbs. No big deal. I wouldn't even limb it except for the possibility of a limb hitting my screened enclosure. I did talk to a service but they wanted 600.00 and 2 weeks before they could get to it. The reason I was looking at gaffs is because I already have the tree loop and harness. If I can't find gaffs I will most likely use the climbing tree stand. I admit your advice is good. If you want you can come hold my beer while I limb the tree
  12. Hi all: I need to locate a set of tree gaffs. I have a tree in my yard I need to top and get out. I was going to buy a set but didn't realize the cost of them. While not as expensive as the open guns I hate to drop that change on basically a one time tool. So.... Do any of you have a set of tree climbing gaffs I can borrow for about a week? I would gladly pay shipping both ways and throw some in for your effort. In case you don't know what they are here is a link to a set http://www.cspoutdoors.com/kleintreclim.html Thanks Steven standles@cox.net
  13. Don't know if I am being Captain Obvious or not but here goes.. I recently was having problems with lube buildup in the seating and crimp dies. I know I know use jacketed. On a whim I tried a spritz of One-Shot in each die every 200-300 rounds. I just checked them out after 3K rounds and no lube buildup to talk of. A little on the seater plug but nothing that would affect OAL and zilch on the crimp die. Just thought I would pass it along. Steven.
  14. First off I assume your loading pistol rounds and I know nothing (best sgt shultz impression) about ramtac powder. I would double check to make sure you have the correct (small or large) powder bar installed. If so than I would remove and clean well the bar and the track it rides in. Inspect the shute part. I actually had a piece of paper stuck in mine one time. If it still sticks then I would try it with a different powder. If it still does it then... Call Dillon and they will make it right. The powder hopper on the top is a little loose but it shouldn't be floppy. Make sure the set screws on the measure are tight (not gorilla tight) and make sure the ridge in the collar is lined up with the grove in the powder drop die. While you at it look at the powder drop and polish the tube. Finally. I took the knocker off my measure and got more consistent loading. Trick is consistency in your loading motion. Later, Steven
  15. Nice guy by all measures. BUT... Don't stroke his ego in a public Forum. He is trouble enough as it is LOL!
  16. I actually had a piece of AL plate made for it with a rounded end extending about 6inches beyond the end of the swager. I drilled and tapped a hole for a stud and attached a spring to it and the other end to the swager. When you finished swaging the case it would flip up the case while you were grabbing another. With practice I could hit the akro bin 90% of the time. I would post a pic but I don't have that setup anymore. I quit using mil brass. Steven
  17. There are shipyards in pascagoula MS that might just have that type stuff on hand. They bild mostly naval vessels. Don't know how they fared throug the big blows but worth checking on. Thanks for the pointer.. I had not even thought of a shipyard. Steven
  18. Chills1994: Yeah I have made a few tgts before. Usually I will see something at a major match and try to improve it. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. If you have a no splatter req look at http://www.letargets.com/html/steel2.html They have rubber faced steel just for that purpose. I haven't tried it but there is another thread here that is discussing it. You can also just buy the rubber to use on existing. Azone41: The current tgts we have were made out of mild steel. While you are correct in that they have worked they all are dished out (I could turn them arounf but then I get splatter and ricochet from a domed surface). I am looking forward to doing some three gun and figured if I am replaceing then use the ar500 and the tgts are interchangeable. The 740/sheet was what the guy said but then again he may have quoted me the price if I was buying 40 ton. If I go to the trouble of the sheet I have a friedn that has a CNC plasma that can cut the shapes. Later, Steven
  19. .3 grains I wouldn't worry about. That small amount could be attributed to a number of variables. Environment (temp,humidity,etc.). Another variable is the bbl. While it says glock 35 how many rounds were put through the "test" bbl before. What brand of primer, What brand of brass, etc. etc. Many variations can make up .3 grains of difference. now if it was 3 grains then I would be worried. later, Steven Ps. I alwys use such info as starting points or sanity checks. I never expect someone elses load to be exact in my weapon. That is why I view Chrono's as an essential tool in reloading.
  20. Keep um coming. I am thinking of combining these into a single digest post. Steven
  21. Yeah I got the welder, torch, access to a plasma , and a buddy that can deliver. I did find one place that said they didn't carry stock but could order it. They just priced out a 40ton delivery. He is going to get me the name of the local place that bought it. Maybe I can beg scraps. He did let me know that a 4'x8'x3/8" was 740.00 Scrap is looking better and better. I have some 3/8 a36 but was hoping to upgrade so I can use same tgts for slug and rifle in 3 gun. Might have to do with a36 until I can scronge scrap. Later.
  22. All: I am looking to build a few tgts. Yes I know I can buy them from MGM etc. etc. My job purchases alot of the ar500/t1/ar400 variety. Unfortunately the Air Force is a bugger to try and get scrap from. Called a few of the local places (NW Florida) but nobody uses that hard a steel. What do ya think the current price for 4'x8' sheet of 3/8" plate? Steven
  23. Naw Guvment Job... I now know where the hiring program for idgits is. If you screw up like I did and hire on then they can offer you training ad nauseum till you break. If that fails there is always the frontal lobotomy but that is usually reserved fro management. LOL!
  24. Work on your grip strength If your workplace is like mine you have an endless supply of obliviots (Cross between idiot and oblivionis). Whenever they cross your path you just follow this routine. Look them dead in the eye and say ***BEEP!*** At that moment you hand spring from the ready position and quickly grab the obliviot around the throat. Tighten your grip till you hear a slight wheeze of air. Hold until shades of purple appear. Loosen until you hear a gasp and color recedes. Repeat as neccessary. If Obliviot looses conciousness then you can maintain grip but use forearms to lift them off the ground. Perfect Workout Plan.. Can you tell My Monday didn't end yesterday
  25. If it is a must have for the NW then how were you getting along before? I thought CED was the only one out with the IR upgrade?
