  1. Understanding comes after suffering.
  2. New job gives us a little discount on Apple products, went to a 5s phone and just got our Mac 21.5" with 2.9 Ghz.....what a difference...
  3. RE-learning Thich Nhat Hahn on this topic for many years; miracle of mindfulness is a practice, which is a perishable skill like shooting. The purpose is to maintain an energy focus of task at hand, rather than the distractions of multi task entertainment. The more I practice it, the longer periods of mindful duration come more natural, with less "effort". One area which makes this easier to do is improving diet; removing white sugars and caffeinated drinks is a good portion of equation-remove the garbage in portion, and quality coming out is enhanced.

    Ever notice how...

Absolutely: energy flows where attention goes.
  5. Geek, ex-red neck. Used to work in an auto plant where EVERYbody thought they were the redneckest of them all, but most of em couldn't butcher a hog or swap 4x4 hubs, and they've never even seen somebody dip the top of a milk tank for cream. The poseurs got sickening. The F250 PSD sits in driveway with the Prius, and TDI VWs. The local matches around here are filled with political animosity, which has become viral enough I don't shoot matches anymore. It's not fun listening to wanna-be rednecks all day, talk bigoted smack about people they don't even know, to compensate for their lack of skill with a pistol. In the end we geeks will be the only ones with the $$$ left to afford the sport. Oh, the irony...

    The Book

"The Miracle of Mindfulness" by Thich Nhat Hahn best quote would be the title, IMHO....
  7. Sometimes it is, when I have not checked my gratitude, and it feels like I am in a rut. For me that is a warning sign on my path, my ever flowing route, which indicates I have become somewhat complacent and am taking things for granted. Long story short: I am not being mindful of my living, my breath. When I pray, I start with expressing gratitude for another day of joy/sobriety/healing/health, and what I ask for is to be relieved of the difficulties of my self in the day to follow. I may be struggling with any number of things, which I asked to be relieved of (greed/envy/lust/sloth/ego) the next day, so that I may better know thy will, walk thy way, and help those of our children who still suffer. My attitude = my gratitude ; the more i am consciously and mindfully grateful for, the more I start to appreciate and see some of the most wondrous items.( Which I tend to be blind of, when caught up in something else.) Please thank your wife for me as I was wandering recently into my rut, and my vision was blurring as well. Gratitude. Namaste.
  8. Huh?! WHAT?!? I've never heard of even MS stooping that damn low! Try uninstalling and reinstalling and see what happens. I used the kindly supplied detectors, PC is clear. It was MS, doing a re-direct to their own site for purchasing upgrades: Essentials being "free" had nothing to do with it wanting to sell me their "upgrades", icon went to amber from green with a warning and the re-direct, and of course support has cancelled so it is now red. No biggie. In the purchase processes now for Apple product. Thanks again...
  9. 22 Veterans commit suicide per DAY, on average: 14 were retired and 8 were active duty. Since this story broke, that = 132 veterans committed suicide; 48 were on active duty, and 84 were not. Not quite sure how this brings up Face Book or the schemers and scammers who are frauds? a.) Where is the link that gives 100% of Lopez's MIL career please. (No, not a link to a news story, produced by your brother's YouTube channel.) b.) I grew up on farms, hunting and butchering our own-that does nothing to prepare anybody for seeing mangled human remains, or experiencing that carnage as it happens. c.) If you have no experience or background at all, studying or working with P.T.S.D. in soldiers or civilians, stay out of the conversation-particularly if you refuse to be respectful and only have vile hatred to spew towards survivors.
  10. 22 vets are committing suicide a DAY. Not sure whatever term you want to have for it-suicide disorder? I've worked with the system milkers too, drawing $2-3000 a month checks, and once they are at 100% DiS. their mortgages are paid too. Evidently this Lopez was in the Puerto Rico NG for many years, recently had a second close family member die in less than a year, and was about to go to another funeral leave. His co-workers decided they'd give him an extra helping of crap about more bereavement pay, and time off for the family funeral. Pushed him over. Click-click-boom.
  11. P.T.S.D. takes more lives. Prayers to all the families.
  12. Whoops, yeah, my lack of apple core nomenclature: It's the Pros which are from TX...It would be like saying the FN FS2000 and the PS90 are the same platform....my bad. MS has put a momentary lock on my "Security Essentials" PC app., until I order something from them via their links? I can trade-in my now defunct MS unit and Office software through Clover, but only for MS purchasing credits. Thank You for all the assistance and guidance here.
  13. Meh, doesn't bother me at all... it's an excellent learning lab here....I see some of the MacBooks will be made/assembled in TX now-good deal...

    Glock warranty

I believe Smith & Wesson has a similar policy. However, when I have purchased new to me S&W pistols (Gen 3 1076 pistols & M&Ps), they honored full warranty works for those pistols-free ship labels, and they did more work than their tech service bulletins had advised. Glock has done the same for me: simply make the phone call, but you are then at their discretion. If they had made such a decision about having made enough money, as you allege, they would stop producing pistols here and/or abroad? Meh...
  15. Attentions to morning tea...
  16. LOL! I just read Bill Gate's opinion on Snoden vs. Wozniak's. It'll be an Apple Mac Pro Book either refurbd or on the student discount programs..(Thank God I have not finished school yet!?)
  17. Nice! Thanks for sharing your purchase experience and the follow thru ?s... A training friend of mine is a 1911 snob: his 1911 collection is worth somewhere in the $40-50K range, I'm guessing. He has over a dozen which are "custom" pistols, not factory. He uses them for work in Security operations, they all run. Then, he found a used TRS for a deal too good to be true and snagged one for giggles. He sincerely commented that he no longer has to fish for the 1911 of his dreams, the TRS is the one, and it is one of those things where words do not work to describe it. That's not me defending the LBs. That's me making a reasonable and rationale argument to my wife for our next pistol purchase! Congrats dude!
  18. KKM, Storm Lake, EFK Dragon, BarSto: Made in USA, gets our money.
  19. Excellent, YES, MAC for dummies and thanks to chow for the macsales reference! BE rocks the knowledge boat AGAIN! It's not that I dislike MS, buuuut this " We are not going to support (your purchase) of our product due to needing to support blahblahblah..." Could I just tear into the box and drop in some more RAM? I don't know....when will the next support drop be? Any other suggestions on shopping would be greatly appreciated.... Craigslist even? Dang...
  20. Is there such a reference? I see MS is discontinuing service for XP and Office 2003, on PC units that do not have enough memory storage capacity, on or about April 17. We have had this Dell Dimension E310 unit for some years now, it's been a good unit, but I think it's time to get out of this MS rut. Where can I go for research?
  21. Yes, for the larger ones anyway...
  22. Perhaps you have been reading the wrong biology books, or you just had a poor choice of words? I just knew at some point in my childhood that I was heterosexual : it was NOT a choice I consciously made. Who would consciously choose to make themselves the target of so much anger, hatred, resentment, and vengence that comes from the crowd of bigotry? Death threats, employment denial, denial of basic human rights-No, that's not something a person chooses. Now, looking down on other people and judging for who they are: race, religion, sexual orientation? That's a choice made.
  23. Positive attitude: my KKMs and Storm Lakes have been 100%, w/o needing fitting/smithing. Negatives: Lone Wolf imports and charges close to the USA Made stuff, which is where I prefer to send my money if I can. Even if LWD charged less than they do now, I'd still support American jobs. No say: Don't have any time with Bar-Sto or EFKs yet. In L.E. that valued term "partner" never carried anything negative, and it never will. Being married to a woman for 15 years, I don't really worry about what some bigots might think.
