  1. The match video I posted was before the batch of particularly flashy loads. I'm not sure if I had some aluminium cases that had already been reloaded or what, but damn near every one of them split in the 100 some rounds. The few matches before that I would notice it every once in awhile. I did use some aluminum .45 and never noticed any flash coming out of the ejection port in that gun, but there is some light erosion in that chamber. The fact that you're so quick to wave the BS flag to defend what you want to defend says more about you than it does me. Good luck in your aluminum cased endeavors.
  2. If you look back to my first post I said I'd take the pictures when I cleaned it. I have a local match tomorrow and I took the pictures right before I posted them. If it makes you happy, good for you, keep loading them. I am now finished with them. If you want to pick through my trash, there are a few hundred of them in there.
  3. I noticed that after a match when I had several of those extra flashy rounds with split aluminum cases. I went through a few hundred of them before I noticed the damage in the chamber because I don't clean it all that often unless I've got a bigger match. Round count is probably 20k through a Glock 34, almost all of them my own reloads. Powders range from WST to Red Dot, more recently Bullseye. The aluminum cases started being used in matches about a year ago and I never noticed any damage in there until after using the aluminum cases. I didn't bother taking pictures of the split cases, because I didn't expect to have to defend myself online Do what you want with the information, I don't care if you blow your gun up or not at this point.
  4. Use them if you want, but don't expect any sympathy from us when your chamber looks like this:
  5. I said that once too. The last match I shot was exclusively aluminum cased reloads. Pay close attention to the last array on the first stage. Two of the rounds had a flamethrower effect out of the chamber. It's not just a light show, it is hurting the chamber and breech face. I'll take pictures next time I clean it.
  6. I really don't have that many fail the cause gauge to start with, and it's been quite awhile that I had any of my practice rounds cause any problems. When I load my practice ammo, I attach a piece of fire hose to the chute on the 650 so the rounds travel into a 50 cal ammo can. I'll load 2,000 9mm to fill it up, then I'm done with my run of practice rounds. I don't remember the last time one of those didn't chamber in my guns (granted, I'm shooting Glocks with factory barrels in them). It simply takes too much time to case gauge every one of those rounds when I'm a) pretty confident they will almost all pass, and will probably work even if they don't pass. Those chances are fine in a practice session but I don't want to risk something stupid like flipped primer or split case in a match when it really doesn't take that long to double check.
  7. I use the same load, but I will case gauge every round. I make sure my match ammo will make power factor in my backup and my backup, backup guns just in case.
  8. Same I have used several thousand across four different calibers. I'm sad they quit making the .380s.
  9. Glock 34 in Production Glock 35 in Limited Not much branching :-)
  10. I have in the past and no longer will. They split very easy and I noticed some erosion in the chamber of the gun I shot it in the most.
  11. I think the results will be very interesting. Can't wait to see how it plays out and I'm not even shooting in it.
  12. LOL, if I could afford a case feeder AND a 650 I wouldn't bother thinking about it! My budget says one or the other. I bought the 650 not too long ago and the case feeder and honestly, the case feeder is still in the box. I have no problem reloading the tube every 15-20 (the tube alone holds 20 casings) casing. Maybe because i'm still pretty new and I'm not in any hurry, but I see no reason for the case feeder for the amount of ammo I load. Maybe if you run off a ton like others, I get it. I sort of wish I didn't buy it but I would guess at some point, I'll be glad I have it. I guess what I'm saying is you can get the 650 without the case feeder. Maybe down the road add it as your finances allow, but IMO, I don't agree with "don't even think about getting the 650 w/o the case feeder" mentality unless you reload a ton. And if you don't reload a lot, keep the 550. I know for a fact I would of been 100% content with the 550 instead of the 650. You're going to be spoiled when you start using it.
  13. Drop a piece of brass by hand and stick it in the way like this: Instant shut off. ETA I guess I'm not the first one to say this.
  14. I'm pleased to see another couple guys talking about loading Red Dot under 200 grain coated. I developed that load with my Glock 22 in anticipation of getting my Glock 35... the G22 will make major with 3.55 (averaged 10 loads)... JUST make major, but it made it with one round out of ten dropping below the threshold (and the average above). I'm not sure how much of a velocity bonus I get with the longer barrel in the 35 since I haven't tested it yet.

  16. I'm more well stocked on 9mm bullets so I'll shoot Production for Indy and KY.
  17. That's not what I meant. I was listening to a podcast that talked about shooting overseas... you shoot, you paste for the next two shooters, and you're done until the next stage. Seems way better than 10 or 12 people walking out to a stage to paste 16 targets for every shooter.
  18. The problem I see with that method, is that it would take longer to tape 14+ targets with 2-3 shooters, than it would with 10+ shooters. Faster overall if most shooters help. One or two guys (on a rotating basis) getting assigned to pasting a whole stage seems way more efficient than most of the squad walking downrange and pasting one or two targets each.
  19. I'll bet if you pay attention it's a lot.of the same guys over and over again. And you'll probably notice some guys never have a malfunction, or of they do, they clear it so fast you barely notice. Pro tip: pay attention to those guys.
  20. That rumor is true. All 32 round stages. Ricky finished designing them around the end of April, and Gary Stevens already approved them. Very nice. Can't wait for this.
