  1. I think I'm going to go buy some 5x7 tarps and for Steel Challenge and stand and shoot classifer stages put them beside the shooting box. Perhaps having the brass collect in one area will make it easier for those that want to pick up brass to do so. I shoot with moon clips so getting my brass back is super easy. I'll fetch brass for other shooters if I can and will give it back. More than once a shooter has told me to just keep it so I have a little collection of brass for calibers I don't shoot.
  2. I'm going to say revolver because that's what I'm shooting now and it's harder for me than production, limited and limited 10 which I've shot in the past. I think revolver is going to get even harder after Feb 2014 when the 8-shot minor revolvers are allowed to play. I think those of us sticking with 6-shot revolvers will be doing even more reloading than we're doing now.
  3. We score our matches with Practiscore and it's our policy to not leave the range until results are posted on the Practiscore web site. We still have some issues though such as our steel challenge results from November still haven't been posted on the SCSA web site . Not sure where the break down is but we're shooting steel challenge this weekend and I'll ask the MD about it. When I ran a small 4 stage indoor match in GA we did everything with EZWS and I always tried to get results posted the following day. Our matches were on Monday night and by lunch time on Tuesday they were usually posted. I was always curious to see how well I did or didn't do so I always entered the scores right away. Volunteering to help is a great thing to do.
  4. I can't see that S&W was swayed one way or the other by USPSA's recent rule change. Suppose it had been voted down? Do you think S&W would have scrapped the project? I doubt it. They're releasing firearms to make money not to make JM happy even though JM is my hero and all. I would love to have one of these with a red dot on top for shooting steel challenge but I'm sure it's going to take me a long while to save enough pennies to buy one.
  5. Thanks for the advice. Chrono ordered this morning.
  6. Ding ding ding......that sounds like great advice. Thanks! Tisk, tisk, tisk....Didn't Brian just say to not listen for the hits on steel . That's some great advice though. I plan to use it in the Steel Challenge match this coming weekend.
  7. 12 hours! Wow. I tumble my brass for an hour, two tops. But I shoot a revolver with moon clips so finding my brass is very easy . I'd love to see a picture of your shiny brass.
  8. Those Magnum Targets look pretty good. Get 5 8" plates and 4 of the 12 x 7 IPSC targets and use those for practice. Should make the normal 10, 12 and 18x24 plates look huge come match day.
  9. Does RMR mean Rear Mounted Red Dot? I've seen the acronym several times but don't know what it means for sure. Thanks in advance for setting me straight.
  10. Unless someone here talks me out of it I'm planning to buy a Prochrono next month. I'm trying to decide if buying the USB Software would be a worthwhile investment as well. My primary use for the chrono is load development to make sure I make major for USPSA. I can see where having the large read out near where I'm shooting from would be very handy. I've seen the thread for the DIY cable but that's beyond my capabilities. As far as purchasing the chrono do any of the forum vendors sell them? I'd like to support them if I can instead of Amazon. Thanks in advance for your feedback.
  11. Looks interesting but won't the ported barrel put you in open division for USPSA? It would be a great pistol for open revolver in Steel Challenge though. The video seems legit but I also noticed there's a typo in the URL displayed at the end of it. Instead of "www" it shows "ww" I would hope the marketing department would have caught something like that before allowing it to be released.
  12. We shot it again last weekend so you should be getting scores from Palmetto Gun Club soon. I brought my son, who was visiting for Christmas, out and he shot it in Classic division and I shot it in limited this month. Great stages.
  13. The SS pouches can be rotated 90 degrees with modification. Here's a video of how it's done:
  14. Mixture of 50/50 crushed walnut and corn cob media. Add 1 tablespoon of mineral spirits per pound of media and it works great.
  15. Look closely at the picture. It appears the primer is wedged in the magazine. Assuming so that means the primer was at least seated into the case when it was loaded into the magazine.
  16. I'm certain we'll use it Jan 4th for our special classifier match. Having the classifier stages in PS will make setting that match up easy.
  17. Just saw that Practiscore 1.2.11 is on the Practiscore web site. Changes included in it (from amazon web page). * Save and Add New Shooter Button Issue (0000277) * Include match name in email subject when sharing results and other data * USPSA incorrect scoring type when selecting predefined classifier stages (0000278) * USPSA incorrect hits per target for predefined classifier stages (0000282) * IDPA incorrect sorting by name results (0000261)
  18. https://www.practiscore.com/bugs/view.php?id=274 - related to Steel Challenge matches https://www.practiscore.com/bugs/view.php?id=275 - related to reports on the Practiscore web site. Practiscore 1.2.11 is out now and it has had extensive testing done on it prior to release.
  19. Our Match Director should soon be posting a link where you can sign up online. If he doesn't post here I'll do it once I know it. Alternatively you can just show up at the range and register there. We do scoring with tablets using the Practiscore application so we'll just add you as a new shooter to our shooter database and you'll be good to go.
  20. Classifer stages are standard stages published by USPSA. Usually these are stages that have been shot at national level matches which are used to calculate the high hit factor score. At the club level we setup the stage and shoot and then monthly USPSA runs a classification update routine that calculates your percentage compared to the high percentage on file.
  21. You don't have to shoot the classifiers at different matches. If you come down and shoot our match you'll have your initial classification in mid-January when USPSA performs their monthly classification update. Bring a car load down from the ATL we'd be happy to have you. Do you have your USPSA membership number yet?
  22. Results can be found here: http://www.uspsa.org/uspsa-display-match-results-detail.php?indx=10204
  23. Welcome guys! I was just in the shop this evening picking up some supplies. Glad to see you guys here.
