  1. I guarantee if this is the way things work out, everyone else will have one less person to worry about competitng against. I WILL NOT just fork over my firearm to someone just because I may have won a match with it. It has nothing to do with the dollar amount (unless they want to give me $2,000 for my $500 glock ), it has more to do with the sentimental value, and being in tune with that particular gun. And all the mods done to my production gun might reach the $100 mark.
  2. How dose the ghost work to hold the gun in. I don't like the CR Speed holsters. I had a CR with my revolver and had my gun knocked out many times by my father after a good run. He would come up and give me a pat on the back and hit the gun right out. I want a holster that will lock up after a run and when I'm walking around or playing with my son trying to keep him busy so hes not bored. It uses a spring loaded bearing that when the lock is on, locks the bearing in place so the trigger guard cannot come out of the holster. I've used mine now for several matches, with all sorts of start positions, and absolutely love it.
  3. At least I won't be the only heretic there. Will be nice to have some company
  4. Yes, that is just your opinion. Mine happens to be if you want to shoot a single stack 1911, more power to you. But do NOT tell me I have to shoot one, if I want to shoot something besides open, revolver, and hi cap limited.
  5. So, following this line of thinking, we need to eliminate Open, Limited, Production, and Revolver, and just stick with the Single Stack as the sole division. Or, eliminate all but Limited, or Open, etc. This way the "talent pool," prize tables, and match staff are not diluted down. That makes absolutely no sense. What happened to the "run what you brung" philosophy of this sport? Also, why should L10 be limited to SS frames? I can think of a number of single stack magazine fed handguns that do not meet the 1911 platform requirement. Why do we want to eliminate the folks running those guns out of the sport? Why do we want to not collect their match entry fees, and sponsor support just because you want to limit them to a particular type of handgun?
  6. Why does that not surprise me??? Ditto. Privates. Gotta love the Army brain washing system. Never fails. Why does it always have to be brainwashing? As much as I would like the black and gold to take both titles, I'm still leaning towards Dave in production. "Of the Troops, for the Troop!"
  7. So the only President's Medals for the Targeting Ed match in Production were for Division winner, with none for class winners? I agree with Chris on this one. Glad I'm not planning on shooting production much in the near future. Production division is what got me into this sport, and it was the only division I shot in this year at the two major matches I went to. While I don't shoot it much anymore, it does give a different perspective on things. Now, it also gives the perspective that you won't be getting anything from Sedro unless you can compete at the M and GM levels at Major matches. What a crock.
  8. I am issued a stock Glock 22, stock sights, and even the 8# connector. With the way the rules are now, I could even be competitive with my duty gear. If my draw is too slow out of the issued holster, well, maybe I should work on that, then, to get it down to ~1 sec. About the only thing I would not be competive with is the limited number of magazines I carry on duty. Any more than a 28-30 round COF and I would be getting penalties for FTE and mikes. That is not the gun's fault, though. Do I choose to run this setup in matches? No. Instead I use a 9mm Glock, kydex holster, and kydex mag pouches. Do those same gun handling skills I have to master to be competitve in a match cross over to my issued gun? Absolutely. Again, if we want to change the rules, simply clarify them, but other than that leave them the heck alone.
  9. An IDPA SSP pistol IS legal in USPSA Production. And, depending on who is driving that pistol, is very competitve. Why do we need to worry about our equipment rules matching another sport word for word? I totally do not understand that concept. Can someone please explain it to me?
  10. With the risk of drifting the thread more off the sight issue, why do we need to "copy" another organizations rules when it comes to the equipment used? If we do that, are we also going to start requiring concealment garments, and reloads with retention? After all, SSP is SSP. I feel the same way about a lot of the IPSC rules. Just because they want things one way, it doesn't mean it has to be the same here. We do have our own rule book, after all.
  11. If that one practice is not working on what YOU need to work on, and you are sloppy in your techniques, that one practice will definately not help. However, if you put that one practice to good use, with proper technique, etc, it definately is better than just not doing any. "Practice doens't make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect."
  12. Thanks for the info, Jeff. I always wondered what they looked like, now I'll get to find out.
  13. Glocks are all I compete with, so I might be a little biased here, but the 35 will definately hold its own in Limited and L10. Other than a magwell if you want one, the only mods I have made to my 35 is adding a Dawson FO front sight, using the Glock fixed factory rear, 3.5# connector, 4# striker spring, $0.25 trigger job, and just added Eric's TruGrip to it. I would say approximately $100-150 depending on what magwell you went with. Unless you reload, I wouldn't worry about a new barrel, all of mine with the factory part can outshoot me.
  14. I would go ahead and replace both the spring and the plunger. If you have already replaced the extractor, unless the ejector was somehow damaged, this should take care of it. Also, double check the new extractor to make sure it hasn't been chipped or otherwise damaged somehow, either before or after it was installed.
  15. Shot this one again today in Open and Limited. Actually did better with my limited gun than my open rig. HF of 9.5053 in open, probably around a 57%, and 10.1937 in limited, about a 61%.
  16. I'll talk to HQ about this. Rob Any resolution to the associate member password issue yet?
  17. Shot this one today in my first match shooting open, first stage. 109 points, with 20 penalty points for a miss/no shoot. time was 27.33. The calculator says its about 44%. I guess you really do have to see the dot to shoot an open blaster.
  18. My open 35 that I just built cost approximately $1100 when it was done. Includes the gun, JPoint sight and mount, barrel, comp, and magwell. But the best part of it is it runs just like a glock.
  19. I don't know about anyone else, but I personally take offense to being labeled someone who would drive away new competitors. I also don't encourage anyone to spend money on anything other than ammo for training. I've only been in this sport for a short period of time ( just over a year), but in that time, I have also brought new shooters in, and am working on more. If the division is not set up for the experianced shooter, why, like someone posted earlier, are there M's and GM's in the division? Just because you can spend less money on a gun that is competitive than most people pay a month for rent or a house payment a month, doesn't just mean "entry-level." Your statement "how much does it really cost to buy ammo for a major match?" They way you want the rules to read, it doesn't matter if it's a major or local match. You HAVE to use factory ammo. If it becomes that way for PD, I say make it that way across the board, and see how many .38 super shooters stick with things. The rules may not be perfect as they are written, but to tighten them down after about 5 years of having them in place is just not right. If you do not agree with the rules, pick another division to shoot. It's that simple. Or, if you are that much of a puritan about things being "box-stock" create your own organization, and run it your way there. Again, how many members that are whining and complaining about the "PD Equipment Race" actually shoot in the division?
  20. I can only guess that someone really got beat by a "tricked out" production division gun, and now wants everyone to shoot basically the same thing. That's the only thing I can think of the recent interest in changing the game for production. My fiance' shoots a darn near stock Glock 17, save for the $35 I put into a 3.5 connector, hogue grip, and striker spring. Everything else is stock: Guide rod, and more importantly, those dreaded Glock factory sights. She may not place very high at matches, but that is not because she cannot shoot, but she is still nervous about moving with a loaded firearm. She walks, not runs, though most courses of fire. Heck, if I'm not careful, she actually gets more points than I do, with my fiber optic sights. Long story short, it's not the gun itself that is going to be competitive, but the nut jerking, er, pressing, the trigger.
  21. Drop the holster and pouch placement restrictions. I say keep the holster and mag restrictions as they are. If they are removed, all we have is a double action only, minor scoring, Limited 10 division.
  22. My vote would be to leave everything alone as it is. If I want to be able to shoot capacity mags, or score major, I shoot Limited or Open.
  23. +1 for the finger on the trigger. One of our Range Officers at work had the same issue during the transition training from .38 to the Glock. Several times in a row, actually. Then he learned to keep the finger up along side of the frame during reloads, finger tip on the slide release lever, and no more problems.
  24. It seems like most everyone here is crying about something with production division, as it stands right now. I wonder (1) how many that are crying for changes to this division actually shoot it, and (2) how many of these people actually would begin to shoot in this division if some of these changes were made? I know one of the biggest bit of whining I've seen on here for this division has been the 10 round limit in the magazines. Big deal. It's not like those of us who actually do shoot the division are competing against those with legal big sticks, we are competing against each other. In my opinion, this keeps it level across the country, because, we do still have some back akwards states that are so afraid of the 11th round in a mag, that those subjects, I mean, citizens, and members, would be unable to fairly compete. I know I haven't been around this sport very long, and someone please correct me if I am wrong, but isn't that one of the reasons L10 came around, the 10 round limit on magazines? Again, it's not broke, so do not fix it. If you don't like it, shoot another division, and leave those of us who do enjoy it the way it is the heck alone.
