  1. I have looked at the google earth image of the range at Brock's gap and it looks like it is pretty much all bays. Would it be safe to assume that this would be a good range to bring out a shorty "bay type" rifle? I see one bay that goes to 300, but nothing any longer than that. Has anybody actually been to this range before?
  2. Sure. All stuff I've made, but, I'm no MIT engineer, mind you. Touché. Pretty awesome stuff. Imagine how awesome it could have been if you had been to MIT!
  3. Bragging about what you can do, while throwing rocks at what somebody else HAS ACTUALLY DONE is in poor taste. Very common these days though. My apologies in advance if you HAVE actually created a better 1050 auto drive. If you have, I'll take one.
  4. Pretty sure jay is a MIT graduate. I assume he had something to do with the designing of it. Albert
  5. I find it hilarious that just a few years ago, right here on Enos, the attitude with 3gun was that Uspsa, ipsc, and idpa, we're all too "range nazi" ish with the many rules that those organizations have. Now, as more and more people move to 3 gun, more rules are needed and supported by some of those that were so against the rules in the first place. Couple those attitudes with the "pick one and shoot it" crown and you end up right here. I do not disagree that practice would make us all better, but you can't fault the OP just for asking a question. If he wants to use a bag, he needs the ability to ask if it is legal. He also needs the ability to look in a rule book and see for himself. Perhaps, if the folks writing the rule books had taken the time to consider how the other sports came up with their rule books (out of necessity, not a simple desire to have more rules) there would be a rule book out here that he could refernece.
  6. Assuming I want to build an upper like the armalite one, does anybody know who could weld/pin a comp for me? I usually use SJC's or a rolling thunder comp. I may try and get in touch with Benny to see if he can do it.
  7. I know that they have sourced a lot of parts format his rifle - lund, timney, ergo, raptor, etc. I really like their hand guard and would like to build a gun using it. Is that one that someone else made for them that may be available by itself?
  8. So, how many people are actually running these things besides the guys that they gave them to? I have still yet to see one in the wild.
  9. If you haven't had issues, don't mess with it. I had issues, replaced mine, and the issues went away.
  10. Lyman gauges are the tightest that I have seen. Dillon would be the loosest. I have rounds that work in the Dillon but not the barrels. Not sure of the hundred round ones.
  11. Unlike the Vmax or Benelli M2 or FN or any other self loading shotgun worth using....The part you are modifying is NOT theserial numbered part! It is a forend/trigger housing/ mag tube hanger. And is replaceable if you really get out of control. The Super Vinci is a better choice as it has the "speed bolt" and will run just fine with 3 dram 1 1/8 oz ammo. Just so everyone knows - that "non serialized" replacement fore end is not available by itself. Only as a complete assembly and is over $600. Sure, $600 is less than the cost of another gun, but I always hear that as a selling point - if you take it too far, just get another fore end and start over. That is true, but it's going to cost you b
  12. Low drag follower was the last thing I tried. It was the last thing, because it worked.
  13. I wet tumble with the primers in. I put the cases in plastic holders that loaded ammo comes in. I only use the ones with the open bottom. I set them up and run a box fan under them for a few hours, then let them sit in there for a week or so. They then go in zip lock bags with descant packs. Top of the zip lock open for a month or so. Then I close the bags and put them in flat rate boxes. Then I hope I never have to get into my stash of perfect brass. If I need to load some ammo, I take it out of the bags that have been sitting open for a few weeks.
  14. Did you put in a low drag follower?
  15. I'm sure you would be fine with either. With gunsmiths, I have found that it takes a certain personality to do it well. Kind of like engineers and accountants. The drawback to that personality type is that along with the aptitude to be a good gunsmith, also comes the uncontrolable inability to manage schedules. It seems like every gunsmith out there has issues with customer service, and it pretty much all stems from not being able to be accurate with timing. Sure, there is a lot of stuff that happens "out of house" - Finishing, parts manufacturing, etc, but my opinion is that most of that could be handled better than most gunsmiths do it, and communicating accurate timing information could be better than any of them do it. If they tell you 3 months, don't get your panties in a wad until 6 months have passed. If they tell you a year, it is just because they have no idea when it will be, and they feel like that is enough time that "anything could happen in a year". Be smart, buy used here in the forums. Let someone else take the hit on the initial price and wait.
  16. Clean the mag tube and make sure you are running the low drag follower. I had the same issues. I now make sure that the inside of the mag tube is pristine. Bore brush chucked in a hand drill. Smooth and clean and I run a low drag follower. I also do not cut the spring.
  17. They all take a little fiddling to get smooth. The 550, 650, and 1050's are much simpler than the lee stuff and once you do your fiddling, it is set and over. My lee pro 1000 required constant fiddling due to the cheapness of the parts and components. If you want to spend a little more money and load a lot more, get a 650. If you want to load a bunch of different calibers at a lower rate (and spend slightly less) get the 550. Those are your only real choices.
  18. Tell that to my open gun with a 8lb spring and the 15,000 rounds that are on the original recoil, hammer, and mag springs.
  19. You want to stand down there and catch it? I have a load with 168's that only has 550 inches of drop at 1000 and is still north of 950 Fps. I shot it in heavy at a match and did fine with it out to 550. The round isn't totally useless, I think of it as dope practice.
  20. Don't mistake my response for hate. Just trying to throw a little sarcastic humor at it.
  21. I will admit that I wish mine was longer.....just for the look, but I have come a long way with my shorty. I mean really, by the time they see it, the deal is already pretty well sealed.

    $4000 glock?

I heard Chris Costa has one like that. Worth every penny if "The Beard" approved it!
  23. If you are already shooting a shadow, or an accushadow, you should be dry firing instead of looking for MORE advantages. You already have a gun with a better trigger than a lot of 1911's that weighs more than most 2011's shooting really light loads. I mean come on, you want A zone seeking projectiles for it as well???
  24. I've never taken them out of the tumbler except to and from the media separator.
  25. I run 11 lb spring in all my 40's. 9 in my 9major, and 7 in my 3-gun 9mm.
