  1. I think it's somewhat of a natural progression for me.  I've absolutely loved shooting a Glock in Production for the past 10+ years, but now my aging eyesight is forcing me to an optic and the easiest route to take is to mount a dot on my Glock and switch to Carry Optics.  I spent the last few years getting special glasses made so I could see the front sights, but even that has run it's course.  I like Carry Optics because I can still use all my gear, and actually hit what I'm aiming at even if it isn't all that fast.

My "competing" days are over, now I'm in it  for the fun.  But, I don't count against any of your numbers because I don't shoot anything but small local matches and other falling steel shoots.

  2. Interesting.  I just bought a bunch of Precision Delta 124gr JHP.  I've never used their products before.

However, I will say that I've been loading Berry's, Black Bullets Int., Blue Bullets, and Bayou bullets, all in 9mm with mixed brass on a Dillon 550 press, and I've always gotten a wide spread when measuring OAL.  I've always considered a spread of +/- 0.005 to be somewhat "normal" with mixed range brass.

...also gave me an appreciation for PD; alerting the community when they push inventory live is a godsend, which built up a lot of goodwill in my book. Like MG, they don't oversell, take our money as a 6-month interest-free loan, and then slither away for months and months and months before they can deliver.

I like how they roll, so decided to give them an opportunity to become my 'Sunday Bullet' and putting them on paper next week. :)

I couldn’t agree more. I’m very appreciative of the heads up when product is available. I’ve never tried them before as I was a “Berry’s” guy for the past 15+ years. But I promise to remember how well they treated us long after this craziness ends.

I also notice you use the same tracking method as me when working on a load. :)

I use a laser boresighter when mounting a dot.  I align the dot laterally and with the laser dot and vertically I place the laser on the top half of the optics dot on a wall 10 yards away and I'm dead nuts on at 20 yards.  I mean dead nuts on.  It takes a little bit of practice but now I use zero ammo to sight in a pistol mounted RDS.

    Hey Sarge,

what laser bore sighted are you using?

Yep. If you can add them to your cart, they are in-stock and ready to ship.  If you can't, they aren't.

Actually, it looks like you can add them to your cart right now ;) . At least for the next few minutes anyway.

Why thank you, I was able to place an order.

    Very much obliged.

So this morning I checked the Powder Valley site for primers and none were listed.  Just a couple hours later I checked and they had received a shippment of Winchester primers in various sizes and they were all sold out.

So how are people getting notice they have primers (or powder) for sale?  I’ve called PV and they do not in any way presale or notify customers of what’s coming. Do people use bots or some sort of automated system to be informed of available stock?

I certainly hope this isn’t just hoarding.

If there’s a bot or app, where do I sign up???

    They are not, about 165mm.

A friend's G34 was not happy with ETS although they are OK in my G17.

    Dirty_J,

what mounting plate are you using for that SRO?  Glock OEM? Or someone elses?

If you are able to direct mount it to your bench no further than an inch or so you’ll be fine. Anything much further and the downstroke will hit the edge of your bench. My 4” inline fab mount will be here Monday.

I would be curious to see a pic with the 1100 mounted to the 4" mount.  I haven't had time to setup my press yet.

I haven't really thought about how the gun gets out in front of my eyes--I hear the beep and I grab gun and stick it out in front of me. Seems like there's an actual learning aspect here rather than an instinctual one.

The more this game starts to grab you, the more you start dissecting it.  Then you realize that if you hold the spoon at a different angle while eating breakfast the morning of the match, it may enable you to shave a few hundredths off the time on your 3rd stage...

    :)

OEM with Taylor Freelance +5 - work very well and very economical.

This is what I've decided to go with.  They seem to work well for me.

Does anyone know if the Glock OEM 24 round mags I see at Shooters Connection are within the legal length?

They look like they would work well.

Getting used to maintaining the gun up at eye level 100% of the time that you are engaging targets might take days, weeks, or months, depending on how much work someone wants to put in and how kinesthetically aware they are.

One can't say it will take everyone months to do so.

Any suggestions on the best way to practice that? I am finding it harder to shoot a dot than my iron sights. At least I was before my eyesight started going downhill. Changing my prescription so I could see the front sight now makes it too difficult to acquire the target or navigate a course of fire. At least with my everyday progressive lens glasses I can see the targets clearly.

It isn't the case because a reflex sight exposes and magnifies every one of your flaws

Yeah, my flaws certainly don’t need any more magnification. I was able to locate a 5moa SRO in stock and ordered it. Now I have about 5 days to fantasize about how good I’m going to be as soon as I mount it…

  13. I ordered the Ghost model to try. Got it in yesterday but haven’t installed it yet. I don’t want one that extends back. I’m a lefty and use my trigger finger to drop the mag. I never swap around the mag release on a pistol. This way I’ll never be DQ’d for having my finger on the trigger during a reload…
