Yea, it seems the problem is with the USPS. BBI fills it within days, but the box sits in Memphis for a couple of weeks. But then it only took 2 days to get to SoCal. Next time I will go with UPS.

Sure, but it definitely affects the delivered cost per 1000 when you do that.  It sucks that we as the customer, and BBI as the seller are both getting screwed over because someone is pissed at that USPS location.

I do not know if this will help. This is a 1050 with 550's side by side. Also, on the 1050 there are three indents where you can place your handle.

Thanks, that is exactly what I was looking for.  And I had found multiple examples this morning after spending about 2 hours reading thru and checking out all the pics of everyone's loading benches going all the way back to 2005.

I know I'm not, and me, too; the truncated cone (and 147 gr flat point) are just not compatible with my old Colt.

I am at present loading Xtreme plated and waiting out an order from Bayou.

When those are gone, I will consider BBI's 135 gr round nose, if I have any primers left.

While I wasn't a fan originally, and I "think" I still prefer RN bullets, I will say that my first couple hundred rounds were loaded without changing any settings from my Precision RN bullets, and that ended up being too short for the BBI CN profile.  Once I increased the OAL to 1.100 they run very smoothly thru all my pistols and Ruger PCC.

I used to use the locking pinch type lock rings, but recently went back to the standard Dillon lock rings and the UniqueTek wrench.

I like that Uniquetek wrench.  It's certainly shorter than my 14" craftsman wrench, and would hopefully prevent me from overtightening and stripping the threads on the nut.

  5. Ok all, I'm bumping this topic since it's been 6 years since the last post, and I'm wondering if more people are now shooting bullets out?

Also, as I transition from Production to Carry Optics or possibly Open I'm also upgrading my ancient mag pouches.  They are pretty beat.  I shoot Glocks, and am looking at the DAA Alpha-Xi's or Race Masters in plastic or aluminum.  So now I have the option of bullets out if I want.  I'm sure I'll try it both ways to see what works for me, but I'm curious how many shooters have switched since this became a subject.

    Thanks,

    Cuz

  6. Does anyone have a side by side pic/comparison of the height off the bench of a RL550 and an RL1100?

I'm trying to determine if I'm going to need to raise up my RL1100 when it arrives in a couple of months or if I can bolt it directly to the bench.

I'm currently loading on an RL550 on a Strong Mount and the height is just about perfect.  If I mount the 1100 to my bench, will the handle be higher or lower than the 550 on a strong mount?

    Thanks,

    Cuz.

  7. I opened my case of 3500 Bayou 124 grain RN bullets yesterday.  The website showed a no-groove bullet, but the bullets I received have a lube groove.  There was no mention of this change on the Bayou website.

I plan to use them, but I would have preferred the usual no-lube-groove bullets I've always bought before from Bayou, and Acme and Precision.  Hopefully they will work in my Mr Bullet Feeder,

I opened the box of DG bullets this morning and they look great.  I have three friends that like them too.

    Seriously?
That would be unacceptable to me, and I have an order pending with them now. Did you reach out to inquire about what happened? I’d surely like to know why they did that.

  8. I started installing a trigger housing with over travel stop in my competition Glocks and I like them. It seems after many, many years of buying everyone’s trigger kit under the sun you just can’t beat a Wolff competition spring pack ($9) and a Glock trigger housing with over travel stop (approx $15).

But, since I can’t leave well enough alone, and I happen to be a fan, I also add an Apex trigger with Gen3 trigger bar to the mix. This is for my Gen3 and gen4 Glocks.

  9. I used those parts from that specific kit. I don’t know if all 10/22 parts are the same. I had to watch a few YouTube videos to figure out where the shims went. The Volquartsen instructions weren’t very helpful.

The average over 5 pulls on my Lyman gauge is 3 lbs 5 oz, and that’s on a gun with over 3,500 rounds since its last cleaning when I installed the kit.

For comparison, the average over 5 pulls on a similar Ruger without the kit installed is 4 lbs 1 oz. that one only has about 500 rounds since it’s last cleaning.

I think I used the Lyman gauge correctly, and at least for this comparison, I used it exactly the same way on both rifles.

    As always, YMMV.
