usually when talking speed you don't ask on a challenging target hahaha. ask on a 7yard open target and you'll get more sure answers. hahahah

sure, everyone will be faster on a wide open target at 7 yards. But, I was practicing on a plate rack today and comparing my draw to hit vs my reload to hit times when I about it, so that was how I asked. Plates are 8 inches, but I think that’s a pretty standard size for a plate rack.

I like the new design CH plate with replaceable t inserts and 4 posts for the optic.  I have one on order and am also waiting on the pistol from Glock.  Also have the Heinie sights on the way.  Still need to round up the optic and other parts.  Will post an update when I get it together.

Whose plate did you end up going with?  Is it a plate for an MOS?

  3. Maybe you should take a look at the golf clubs in the bags of the "average" golfers at a local country club.  Most have the money to buy better gear, but not necessarily the time or energy to actually practice.  I'm always upgrading my gear, when I should be buying more ammo and practicing, but that's just not as much fun during the cold winter months in New England.  It's easier to sit at home behind a computer and spend money in the hopes of improving my game.

Sounds extreme..What pf ? And how is it going?

    I just rechecked my data,

125gr Blue RN:  3.5gr TiteGroup, OAL: 1.08x yields a 141 PF in my Ruger PCC, 127 PF in my Glock 34.

125gr Precision RN: 3.5gr TiteGroup, OAL: 1.05x yields a 144 PF in my Ruger PCC, 131 PF in my Glock 34.

125gr Black Bullets: 3.6gr TiteGroup, OAL: 1.06x yields a 144 PF in my Ruger PCC, 131 PF in my Glock 34.

I didn't care for the Blue Bullets, I ordered .356, but they were all .355, and I hate getting my fingers all blue.

I liked the Precision's better than the Black bullets, probably because of the RN profile, they seem to be working out well, I will definitely order more of the Precision from the above three.  I'm also waiting on some Bayou Bullets, hopefully within the next month or so.  After over 20+ years of loading nothing but Berry's coated bullets, this damn covid craziness has me ordering from anyone and everyone just to have bullets.

On my Tapatalk App if I go to the far left icon, Brian Enos no longer shows up under MY GROUPS and if I try to hit ADD MORE and search for Brian Enos it does not come up in the search reults.

I have started trying to look on the web but much prefer the app and just clicking on subscriptions and reading there.

Thank you for looking into this.

    Ivan

Same for me, it disappeared completely, and Brian Enos doesn't even show up when searching.  Bummer...

I'm really going to miss Tapatalk.

  6. That only works when you can get the bullets you want/like. My “preferred” Bullets are unavailable, so I’ve placed orders all over the place. I’ll end up with multiple different brands, weights, and bullet shapes to deal with. In my case, I’ll accept a lot less accuracy in favor of reliability over the next year or two until preferred components become more readily available.

The Dawson adjustable sights are nice. Have several thousands of rounds on them with no issues. They are much easier to change if your load changes and point of impact shifts as a result, versus trying to drift a sight. Worth it in my opinion.

    drift a sight?

who does that?  Adjustables are pretty much for elevation.

As I read here probably more than 10 years ago, put your rear sight smack dab in the middle, and if your windage is off, you should work to correct whatever it is you are doing wrong.

    oops, I forgot to add:

Yeah, I think the direct mount is better in some ways, but it sounds like the MOS setup is (or can be) reliable.  So that, combined with the flexibility to change optics or run without one, probably make it the better choice.

firget about what everyone else is saying and get yourself a Gen 5, 34 MOS. Then when you decide to dump it, PM me and I’ll give you a decent price for it.

All set, mods please delete post.  Thanks for the help.

before deleting anything, we would like to know what you decided, and then, in 6 months, how you feel about the decision you made and if you are still using them or changed your mind and went in a different direction. After all, this is a learning process and someone else will come along with the same question as you, and may benefit from this post.

Just got a Glock 17 ( I have had numerous Glocks before) and I would like to get an adjustable sight set for it.  I like a plain serrated black rear and a red fiber optic front.  Can anyone recommend a set that fits those criteria?  Gen 5.  Front sight is not in a dovetail, it has that heaxagon shaped "pin?" inside the slide.

There's really only one, and that's Dawson Precision if you feel you must have adjustable sights.  But, really, forget about adjustable sights and just get fixed sights.  There are many to choose from, I like Sevigny, but Dawson and  a few others make good ones.  Choose the rear you prefer, keeping in mind the width of the rear notch.  Then go with a Dawson fiber optic front sight.  They have a lot of good info on their website to help you choose the correct height, and will even let you exchange it for the right height to get you zero'd.  Once that's done you will be good to go and never have to worry about your adjustable sight breaking or changing.

I think most people start out thinking they want adjustable sights on their Glock (I did too).  Now, I only go with fixed sights on my G17, 34, 17L, it doesn't matter.  Fixed sights never let you down.

$40-$50 pre 1000 is the reality of the situation right now. I suspect that price is gonna stick when they start coming back into supply.

the real price gouging is on gunbroker.

I think I'll be glad to get them for $40-$50 per 1000 over the next year or two.

  13. Bumping this for an update since I just dug out my G41 from the back of the safe to start Shooting again.  Current primer shortage has me switching from 9mm to 45acp.

What are you guys using for a guide rod and recoil spring to convert the Gen4 to the traditional Gen3 type?

Is anyone besides carver making a mag well?

    Thanks,

    Cuz.
