  1. Update::: I shot a 4 stage match this weekend with the gun....I basicially tied myself with my Limited gun....go figure. With my gun, 9.2 gr of HS-6 made 1387 FPS with a 125 JHP Zero. SD was 5 and ES was 15....very consistent load. The dot moved down, then up and stayed center, very linear movement. The HS-6 is a lot softer load than the 3n38 i was using and the 3n37. So, i think i've got it. I had also made some loads with 9.8 gr. of HS-6, these made 177300 PF with 1418 fps. Length is 1.20" OAL. Any longer and they don't want to feed out of my 126mm mags. Thanks to everyong that replied. Now to find some brass....
  2. You are allergic to tomatoes and tomato based products.... If you developed symptoms soon after eating these things= allergy. Food poisoning typically lasts for a day...hence the '24' hour flu...
  3. The dot stays in the field of view, just has severe movement. I shot my friends Bedell, the dot tracks up and down and settles nicely. Mine is like a howitzer went off and the dot moves violently, up down and back and forth. I will be trying the HS-6 this weekend and see how it works. As far as springs...i have an 8# and have tried 11, 10 9 and now 8#...8 seemed to give the best results. My next move is to try 115gr...JHP's and see how that works. The load given to me originally was 9.2 gr of VV 3n38 and 124 gr Montanta gold...It wasn't even close to major PF....I was only getting 151 PF
  4. 2 months ago while shooting a local math. After stage 1 I noticed my gun sounding 'Springy' , but ran well.. Finished the match and even won overall and my Limited division... Put the gun away as i shot single stack the next two matches, went to clean it and no Tungsten guide rod... only the rear portion was intact. I bought the tungsten rod at Area II this past fall from Brazos. I went back to steel and frankly, i can't notice any difference.
  5. Hello all, I purchased an open gun (38 super) full size gun here from a forum member about a year ago. I was told the gun was an SV IMM....it isn't . Oh well. I had the gun hardchromed by Tripp and other work done to it, new scope mount, C-more instead of the serendipity that was installed. The breechface has some pitting in it, obviously by primer flow or gas. Small but it is noticeable. This gun does not have a removable breechface... My question would be, can this work (removable breechface) be fitted to the gun, or should the slide be scrapped and a newer one installed that has this SV system?? Secondly, This gun has 4 large ports in the barrel and a 8 port comp....needless to say it is big, but seems to run well. But I am having a tough time getting a load made up that gives me predictable dot movement. Now trying HS-6, have tried 38 and 37 with different bullet combos and nothing seemed to work. 10.2 gr of 3n38 with a 125 zero JHP gave me 171 PF but severe oscillations in the dot. 37 worked ok but didn't seem to work the comp as well. thanks in advance.
  6. I'd DQ them both for the Day. I'm sure their nerves were rattled quite a bit after that... SO should've known where the shooter was going and probably how fast he was going to get there... So was irresponsible. shooter gets DQ's for unsafe muzzle control, though it was not his intent....obviously.
  7. It has steel inserts....
  8. 13.850 in Limited 3.35 and 3.22 for each string. This is gonna be a classifier that will have just have out of the sky hit factors. Its all pure speed, staying relaxed and hitting the reload.
  9. Some family members just seem to thrive on DRAMA. Now that i'm no longer married, i have 4 relatives i no longer have to deal with come Turkey and Christmas time. My ex 2 years ago refused to have Thanksgiving dinner at our house because she hated her brothers wife and did not want her Kids over to ruin the house. Nice, huh?
  10. Shot this past weekend. Limited A shooter. 97 points 16.55sec. Last string was 4.24 sec. Hit factor is 5.861. The local GM shot it in 12 + seconds but had penalties. This is a tough classifier. comes to around 63%!!!!!
  11. I belong to another forum, where i've posted since 2003. I actually wrote a post on a gun that i tried, ran about 100 rounds through it...Frickin hated it. big bulky, recoiled like a wet mule, shot low out of the box, trigger felt like i was squeezing a marshmellow. And these guys call BS!!!!!!!! (no, it wasn't a Glock, but it was Plastic) I simply offered a little constructive input, yes i said it all rather elegantly......and instant swiss cheese is the result. Please Rant away....
  12. I'll trade you a couple of roadkill coyotes for one.
  13. Randy, How much do those hammers cost?
  14. Kim, slots 139 and 140 going in the mail today for Limited nationals. roberto
  15. Just be careful with that nail gun.
  16. Ah yes, an internet classic. I secretly wish i had Geck45's job.
  17. CS sets in my STI trojan and STI edge. Dead reliable at 2# each for over a year now.
  18. Thanks for the information. I haven't had problems with my 14 #, though sometimes i run a 16# as well. On the other hand, i don't shoot the gun alot, maybe once in a couple of months for an IDPA match. Or when i get the urge to shoot production, which is rare. My friend who shoots his XD 5" .40 on a regular basis, uses an 18 lb. spring as he was having the slide go out of battery, especially when reloading. His power factor is about 145 or so with a 200 gr. bullet.
  19. Doesn't work with the XD .40 I run a 14lb ISMI in mine and it runs just fine. Tactical that is. Service model...You can order a stainless guide rod and apring kit... dons guide rod. www.pistolgear.com
  20. I think this is where IDPA SSP class has it right. Just throw the XD in along with it. Simple rules, gun fits into a box. No bad juju. Most guys just throw in a lighter recoil spring in their glocks and run the minor power ammo. No need to lighten a slide.
