  1. OK, was able to chrono this weekend, but only briefly due to continued rain here in the southwest. TEMP 50 degrees, overcast. STI edge 5" .40 4.6 g titegroup OAL at 1.2 180 gr moly round nose bullet avg fps 950 PF 171 4.3 gr of the Tite-goup gave me a 166.6 PF Both were easy to shoot and controllable.
  2. Yep, Ole Mark is helping me out quite a bit. The man is a fountain of knowledge. I will try to make it out to the Double Tap range. thanks for the load info. I've got several to try here for my Limited gun. I'm going to compare Tite-group to VV320 and see which works better for me. robert
  3. this is not "The" Kevin speers, is it" How is Texas since you left New Mexico??? Deming is going downhill.

  6. Thanks sfinney, That's probably the load i'm going to use. Friend of mine uses exactly the same load but with a JHP, MG. I've got a bunch of tite-group laying around and want to use it up. I like the VV320 better for the limited gun.
  7. I'm using a 180 gr. Moly round nose bullet (Billy Bullet) 4.4 gr Tite-group OAL at 1.2" Nickel speer case. STI .40 Edge 5" Anyone else use a load similar to this??? I'll be chronoing the load soon and benching it for accuracy. Will a Moly bullet be as accurate as say, a zero or montana gold 180 gr JHP?? Sorry if this may have been threaded already, i've searched and found very little info on moly bullets and limited major loads. Thanks for any help. robert
  8. Personally, I will continue to support my local club (IDPA), I will not be shooting any sanctioned matches that are IDPA. I had purchased a new 646 that Shoepop helped me out on with the trigger and such and really enjoy it. However, the fun has been taken out by IDPA HQ with the revolver divisions. I now have to work up a new load to make the new power factor and beat the heck out of my gun to do so. L frame and major power factor just don't mix well. I'm going to try some 200 gr moly bullets and work up a load and see how it works out. I really don't feel like purchasing a 625 4" just for IDPA,
  9. I couldn't manage anything faster than 2.5 seconds with Safariland CII loaders for my 686. Somehow, one piece of brass just doesn't want to eject and i have to ram it out.. Cylinder bores are clean too. Just not as nice as a moonclipped gun.
  10. Personally, I think he is being a little too condescending in his tone. He's the Big dog in IDPA, he should be used to rants and raves by his members. He set up the rules, obviously without much input from his membership, and has to live with the problems. A better response would have been, " i understand your concerns, we're working to get it fixed." They just had the IDPA Championships a few months back, I've heard no one who went there say they were asked for any feedback concerning rule changes. Was anyone approached??? We put on a large match here in New Mexico this past year, nothing said there. Our Area Coordinators have never called our club asking for input....... So, Bill, 'What Gives'??? RM
  11. Thanks Guys, I'm putting the Dremel down as we speak.
  12. I think you should be able to shoot your 8 shot in SSP and ESR. I can shoot an 8 shot in USPSA production, or put optics on it and shoot open.. If i can shoot a Glock 21 in 3 Divisions, I sure as hell should be able to shoot a 627 in multiple Divisions. RM
  13. Question: I've searched and searched and cannot answer this question.. Why does everyone not spell out STI???? Did i miss something. I'm new to this forum, so, Hello! Robert M.
  14. I won a certificate for 1200$. I shot the 4 day defensive handgun course. I shoulda shot the 4 day rifle or shotgun. You are forced to shoot pure Weaver all 4 days. 2 things that i improved on while there, improved trigger control and harder focus on the front site. That's about it. I wouldn't go back. They are now going for the 'high flyers', CEO's, celebrities... Nice facility, nice staff. Just a little too pricey and not enough for your money. RM
  15. Simple, It makes me a better 1911 shooter.... If you can shoot a wheel gun and shoot it well, you can shoot anything. RM
