  1. Not sure if youve already gotten this settled but Benny sometimes has guns around that he can transform into your dream 3gun shotgun. give him a call. the whole package that he does to the shotgun is incredible. I think Merlin said one time that his Benny gun will run everything including corn cobs! If you get the whole package on the gun you wont be disappointed. good luck! -N
  2. if it doesnt run quite right, send it to Benny Hill at Triangle Shooting Sports. with the work he does to them, the benelli will run anything.
  3. Welome to the South Coast! I live just down the road in Destin. Some months ago i posted a reply to someone looking for matches in the Destin area. search for Destin on the forum and you should find it. if not, ill repost all the info about the matches. long story short, there's nothing exactly in the area, but if youre willing to drive a few hours there are matches. mobile, dothan, marianna, tallahassee. all within 3 hours. ive heard about the Hurlburt match, but that is no more. there is a club just getting started in pensacola too. when do you get to FL? -N
  4. 1500-2000 is easy to spend on an AR but you dont have to. A local shop here has 4 DPMS Sportical rifles on the shelf for $829 each. Buy a detachable carry handle and front sight for about 100 bucks and you have all you need for 3 gun at less than a grand. Its more money than the SKS, but it fills both rolls much better and still leaves room for growth. Way down the road you can get a Millett DMS 1-4 scope at about $200, a compensator, different stock blah blah blah. Nothing about 3 gun is cheap but it doesnt have to be ridiculously expensive either. I'm sure the SKS would be fun but the AR has a lot more going for it.
  5. Graham, i have the same issue with my ice magwell. the front edge was far enough down to cause some difficulty seating an arredondo basepad mag. To make sure the arredondo mags fit, i beveled the top edge of the mag extension and smoothed out the inside of the ice insert with a dremel. Since then i have had no issues seating a mag. JB Weld is probably the easiest solution though.
  6. L10. dawson makes an ice magwell for the hipoint right?
  7. bill and dave are two of the meanest and least friendly people ive met in the game. and for the record by meanest and least friendly i mean nicest and most easy going shooters out there. oh and they can SHOOT. fun match. michael, that stage was evil and strange. thanks for putting it together, i hate you! see you guys soon. -N
  8. its like basic training, but for 4 years... "a $250,000 education rammed up your ass a nickel at a time"
  9. while looking at P22's, the clerk says "thats real carbon fiber" really bro.... its also a good place to get stripped lowers for 400 bucks.

  11. i just helped a buddy build a bar in his house and the fridge below the bar wasnt cooling the keg. we opened up all around the compressor components and put a few high speed computer fans down there to circulate the air. the beer is nice and cold now. maybe something similar could help your tumbler. -N
  12. straight outta the fridge the bullets may have been slightly slower than when at room temp, but it wasnt nearly as bad as at benning. i guess just bad luck that day. ill stick to 19 from now on in any weather. -N
  13. I know its a gamble to load those things up to 20 but theyve never failed me before. i just loaded one and the bullets slid up perfectly when i removed a few. the mag is now topped off at 20 and sitting in my refridgerator. in an hour or so ill see how it functions. Im getting to the bottom of this somehow! if the bullets slide up slowly, i was right about the cold. have you guys seen cold temperatures affect magazine function? -N
  14. Last month at Benning I had my previously flawless arredondo +5 basepads take a dump on me. I had them loaded to 20+1 as i usually do (i know, i know!). In the hotel before and after the match they were good, but at the match when i pulled a bullet out of a loaded mag the remaining bullets slid up in the mag S-L-O-W-L-Y. The malfunction during the stage was the the same, bullets pushing up too slow, so i dumped it and went to a 15 rounder that functioned. The mags were clean, the biggest difference i can think is the temperature. Have you had cold temperatures affect arredondo basepad magazine function? Glock 22, 180g Zeros, OAL 1.130. Thanks! -N
  15. Merlin, it happened because you changed your avatar!
  16. mako, welcome. production is a good choice, so is the gear youve looked into. before you buy all that gear you might want to see if someone from the club or forum has some gear you can borrow. people in this sport are strangely happy to let you borrow their stuff. it might save you some cash as you find your preferences. either way, the cr speed belt and bladetech doh are great and production legal. tek lok is a clamp that holds the holster to the belt as opposed to a belt loop. its personal preference and doesnt really matter that much because both are fine but you can buy the tek lok seperately if want. you can put velcro to mate with the cr belt so either attachment is more secure. someone else will have to comment if xd mags fitting into cr speed pouches, i bet they do though. if you wanted to save a few bucks im sure fobus makes a pouch for xd mags. buy two doubles and you'll spend about the same as one cr speed pouch! in the end i bet youll end up with a cr speed belt, blade tech DOH, and 5 cr speed pouches, its all fairly standard gear. good luck -N
  17. Glocks are capable of decent accuracy. Two weeks ago after a gssf match, i hit a 12 inch plate a few times at 100yds while shooting unsupported. but i missed with the other dozen rounds in the mag! the gun is a G22 with some polishing on the trigger but it does have dawson front and rear sights. i honestly wasnt expecting the gun to hit the steel, but the Glock did it. -N
  18. Benny coats his guns in a proprietary blend of cocaine and reliability. you should send it to him. -N
  19. Sorry Chuck! From West to East about 300 miles of the south coast. Nothing closer than 90 mins from Destin, $4 gas sucked. New to me 22

Lars, a half dozen mags will be plenty to shoot most matches. that being said, buy as many as you want. 20 would not be an obscene number for people on this forum. -N
  23. I would get a timer and start setting par times. keep lowering the time between the beeps and youll learn to get a good sight picture and break the trigger before the second beep. -N

    glock death jam

glad its running again. can you post a picture of the guide rod that was causing the problem? mine has less than 70k on it, but i'd like to see how much wear is too much. thanks man. -N

    Glock 34

i had a g22 standard slide release spring that stoped holding on tightly to the slide release itself. the slide release had no tension holding it down. i bent it, it wore out, whatever the cause, a new one cured the problem. luckily it happened during a match on a strong hand only stage...
