  1. I have a question and would like everyone’s input. I’ve looked through three gun rules for multiple matches (SMM3G, USPSA, 3 gun nation, SIT multi gun) and was wondering can you use tools to clear a malfunction during a course of fire? The reason I ask is that I had a double feed on a shotgun that I couldn’t clear and the only thing I could do was put on the safety and put it in the dumb barrel. If I would have had a punch or a long nylon scribe in my pocket I could have cleared the double feed and continued. Like I said I have been looking through rules and can’t find anything except in the USPSA 3 gun rules that say I have 2 minutes to clear, keep pointed down range, and keep finger of bang switch, it but says nothing about tools you may be carrying. Here is what I found on USPSA, 2.6.2 In the event that a competitor’s firearm malfunctions after the Start signal, the competitor may safely attempt to correct the problem and continue the course of fire. During such corrective action, the competitor must keep his firearm’s muzzle pointing safely downrange at all times. 2.6.3 While rectifying a malfunction that requires the competitor to move the firearm away from aiming at a target, the competitor’s fingers must be clearly visible outside the trigger guard (see Rule [5.3.10]). 2.6.4 In the event that a malfunction cannot be corrected by the competitor within 2 minutes, he must point the firearm safely downrange and advise the Range Officer, who will terminate the course of fire (excluding any unattempted component strings in a Standard Exercise) in the normal manner. The course of fire (excluding any unattempted component strings in a Standard Exercise) will be scored as shot including all applicable misses and penalties.
  2. I need someone in the Phoenix area that can install a gas block so it won't come off. The gas block I have is secured by set screws and also can be pinned. I will need someone that can dimple and pin the barrel... All suggestions will be helpful...
  3. Make sure you fill out the match survey that was sent out I’m sure it will help the match staff for next year. I loved the ½ day shooting, Denise was right about the Friday night last stage, it was getting close to dark and we started all the stages almost on time. I think a good add would be to let some of the shooters that have shot in previous years shoot with the RO’s if they don’t make it into the main match days. Since they have shot before and know the rules I don’t think it wouldn't hold up the RO days. This would let a few more people into the match….
  4. he would just yell that AS PER RULE 2.5 and some shooters would reply "which is what?" Then it would start all over again. This. It took several minutes of questioning the RO during our walk through to get a clear answer. He wouldn't just come out and say you have to drop the empty mag if the selector wasn't on safe. He just kept referring to the sign in the barrel. Granted this is in the rule book, but it's different from SMM3G rules last year, and different from every other match I've ever shot. A guy on our squad DQ'd for a 2011 locked back on an empty mag not being on safe. Totally messed up rule IMO. Any major variation from past rules should be highlighted IN PLAIN ENGLISH during the match. The high number of DQ's on this stage should be evidence enough that something is wonky. Actually, AFAIK, most of the major matches I've shot required the guns to be either on safe or have an empty chamber AND magazine removed. I watched and recorded stage 5 on Wednesday during the RO shoot. The competitor I recorded neither put the gun on safety or dropped the Mag. This is clearly visible on the video and I’m curtain they did not DQ him. I may be wrong as I quit recording after the long range shots, but I never heard during the discussion that he was DQ'd. Again I may have missed the part when he was DQ’d or if he was or wasn’t I’m not 100% but I never heard about it. That being said, none of my squad DQ’d on this stage (or any other) mainly because by the time we shot it late Sunday EVERYONE was up on the rules and asked the correct questions. I can post the video on youtube if anyone want's to see it.....
  5. I scoped two targets out at 375yds on stage 5...... Overall the stages look great..Looking forward to shooting Friday, have the late start with 5 stages on the first day. Get to sleep in.....
  6. I'm not doing this match but normally this is the case for rifle stages.....So the sub gun may not be used here??? Thinking a sub gun would still be classified as a rifle.... 3.3 Rifle ammunition shall be .223 Remington (5.56 NATO) or larger.
  7. Did I read the scores right? 18 DQ's and 9 DNF's? What was going on? have never seen that many DQ's in a match before...... Sounds like if you don't DQ you will get some great prizes...... And only 11 TI shooters? I may be able to break into the top 10 in Vegas........
  8. Hello, just wondering about the LR bonus targets, These are not taken with your normal gun? so I should plan on packing a long range gun or are there stage guns for that? And If I want to shoot OLHOT on the 8th-10th, Prize table will be on the 10th? Just didn't want to hang out for the rest of the week......
  9. So the Shot Gun match is the 16th? , the Rio Calendar still has it on the 9th...
