  1. They have assortments to choose from, I used mine with out one for a long time
  2. My issue was me short stroking and not fully pushing the case in and some burrs on the feed ramp. A little polishing and retraining of the operator and the problem is gone.
  3. After decapping and sizing 500 cases, measuring the head and frame opening and reading all the comments here. I have come to the conclusion that my press is tight compared to others. My retaining pins go in snugly, which restrict and forward and back or side to side motion. That means there is no self centering of the head. My up and down movement is mainly at station 1 and can not be moved easily by hand. Station three is tight and my measurements confirm it. So the movement is caused by torque not over all looseness.
  4. Side to side and forward and back is float. Up and down is loose. I will set it up and get all stations full, then when ram is in the up position and centered, I will shim it tight. There will be no movement then and I can find something else to pizz and moan about
  5. Thanks for the link. Seeing as to how this will only be a dedicated to 9s, I will just shim the head tight. If I start changing calibers I will buy the after market heads.
  6. I probably am. Seeing as there are aftermarket fixes, this is a common issue. So I'm not the only one.
  7. Thanks for everybody's reply's. Welder/mechanic is part of my job description and very seldom is movement where there should not be movement is ever a good thing.
  8. Precise is not my issue. My concern is how much movement there would be after 20000 rounds. Thanks for the replys
  9. So the tolerances are so loose I will have to go to aftermarket heads?
  10. You can get a MG 124 grain jacketed HP for $.0981 versus a Berrys 124 grain plated round nose for $.09435 I will take jacketed over plated any day.
  11. I just added a 650 to my 20 year old 550. I have load over 20,000 rounds of 9 with my 550 plus others calibers. I have used the same tool head with the 9 and it is still tight in the frame. I started setting up the 650 tonight and am seeing a very noticeable up and and down movement of the tool head in the frame when sizing and decapping 9s. Is this normal? On another note, is it normal for some cases to follow the feed back after it is in the shell plate ?
  12. The primer gage? Yeah because it's a go/no go gage. If the one side fits into the primer pocket, a primer should fit, if the other side fits, the primer pocket is blown out. I don't like sorting them but it's much better than doing it by eye. I find some that I would not have called crimped (S&B brass always seems tight, even if the gage goes in, so I put those in the "to fix" bin). Decapping does go super fast on the 650 though, and I don't even have a casefeeder yet. Of course, I comparing decapping on a single stage so just about anything would be better How many times are you reloading the same brass? Are you loading hot loads?
  13. The other thing to consider is if you will ever add another caliber? Choosing one that will cross over will let you by in bulk easier.
  14. I just extended the top of primer cup with Duct Tape
  15. I own both, and both fit my hand nice. I bought the XDM first and started shooting IDPA. Then the Pro so I could classify in SSP I'm faster first shot with the M&P Pro and slide lock shot to shot, but more accurate on a string with the Xdm
  16. Yep, like I said above---major loads in both cases. Oddly enough, 200 gr bullets out of the 686 making major aren't that bad. I just am bad at shooting revolvers---shooting major in them really doesn't make me that much worse. That's okay, though---I just want to get a classification in all divisions, just for fun. Remember slow is fast on the revolvers, the extra time squeezing the trigger is made up on the target score.
  17. I started shooting IDPA TO justified buying a 5.25 XDM and found out I don't suck at it. That has cost me a lot of money My goal is to get classified in all 5 classes.
  18. I shoot a mod 28 S&W I qualified it MM in SSR two yeas ago, this year I want at least SS in both ESR &SSR
  19. I ventured into a larger city today and stopped at two different Larger Gun Shops to kill time. GS #1 Me - Do you have a Glock 41 Sales Person - You mean a 31 Me - NO, a 41 Sales Person - OH, a 42 Me - NO, the long slide 45 Sales Person - They don't make anything like that. GS #2 Me after looking through inventory - Are you sitting on a Glock 41? Sales Person jokingly turns around in a circle - No, They are not shipping them yet. Me - OK?, I just wanted to hold one for comparison. Sales Person - Just grab a XDs, it will feel the same. I left and went back to the woods where it takes forever to get what I want, but at least they know what it is and order it correctly.
  20. Depending where you are at you can get wheel weights, but you will need to go to mom and pop shops
