  1. Just asked USPSA this week. No dates or locations set yet. Said to watch the website as that's where if will be announced.
  2. Thanks! Was just thinking about drilling and tapping the bolt on my new one to put a racker on. A little harder than I thought! Should still be able to make it happen on the mill though...
  3. For example, on your wall, stand 8' away. To shoot let's say "5 To Go", which normally has four 10" plates at increasing distance, and a 12" stop plate off to the right. Put all of your targets on the wall at 8'. A 2.667" circle 2.733' to the left A 2.222" circle 0.778' to the left A 1.778" circle .662' to the right A 1.519" circle 1.519' to the right A 6.476" circle 4.571' to the right
  4. The first worksheet "1 distance" is what you want. I have it reduced to 10' and 8'. Y - normal distance away 10' conv or 8' conv- the dividing factor to size the plates down based on their normal distance X - normal distance L or R X @ 8' or 10' - distance L or R at the reduced distance in feet Plate Size - normal plate size in inches 10' or 8' Plate Size - size of plates in inches
  5. Sorry. Apparently it wont let me attach a spreadsheet. If you want it PM me an email address and I will send it to you!

  7. After wanting to get some more steel practice in the wintertime (or anytime for that matter), I thought I would figure out some reduced distance targets so I can practice dry firing or airsoft practice. I have attached the spread sheet I came up with in case anyone is interested. The first worksheet (1 distance) is if you want to shoot all the targets at the same distance (similar to what the BAM airsoft targets do). I have calculated it down so that you can set all of the targets up on a shelf or counter top and get the same look with the targets scaled to look the right size and the distances left and right make all of the transition angles the same. With this one you would need to make 27 targets to get everything to look right. The second worksheet (Reduced Distance) is a scaled down version. I did it both 1/4 size and 1/7th size. This way, you can make a set of targets and put them on stands at different distances so you actually have the near to far transitions to make. This way you can make a set of targets (4 rectangles, 5 large circles, and 4 small circles) and set up all the stages. I did 1/4 and 1/7th because that way you can shoot 6 of the stages with one set of targets at 15 ft. The two longer stages have to be scaled down to 1/7th to get them into 15ft. I you can get 26ft you could do all 8 stages with one set of 1/4 size targets. The 3rd worksheet is the height calculation so that you can actually make the targets look the right height. It is set for a barrel height of 5.5 feet right now (5ft 6in). If you are taller or shorter, just adjust the equations in the J and K, or P and Q columns to your barrel height. Any questions let me know!

  9. Do people try to run the same platform from gun to gun or do you switch it up. Currently shooting a 2011 in open and 1911 in limited/SS. Both are 9mm. Thinking about changing to both being 2011s. Thoughts? What do you all do?
  10. Thanks all. Will try the Dawson mag release and see if it works out. Usually shoot L10 and count my shots pretty well unless i end up taking make up shots, thats when it throws me off. Thanks again for the advice.
  11. These guys do it for $25. Lots cheaper if you already have the air hose. If not you can find them easy enough. http://natechdev.com/?product=custom-gbb-magazine-conversion
  12. Have a 1911 (Kimber) that runs like a top. Have never had a single jam with it shooting 230g RN. It feeds just fine when I "make ready" and runs fine during the stages. The only problem I have is when I go to slide lock, put it a new mag, then it jams up (I know, the way to solve it is not go to slide lock! I try). Happened 3 times now over the last couple of matches. Jams up so bad I can't get the mag out and spend a good 10 or 15 seconds fighting with it to finally get it cleared, a new mag in and get it running. I think the round is diving into the feed ramp, or the mag is going too far in and jamming up. Not sure because I'm trying to get it fixed in a hurry and don't take a lot of time to figure out what's going on. Someone mentioned I might need a new slide release/lock. Happens with 3 different types of mags so not a mag problem. Ideas?
  13. I'm in a wheelchair and work on a shooting range and shoot a lot. My wheels will pick up the residue from the range, which gets on my hands, and will come up on the swab tests at the airport. After a time or two of "additional screening", extensive bag searches, showing them my business card, they finally let me through. Now I check my bags in, go wash my hands and go through security. Havent had a problem since I started doing that. Funniest one was when they swiped my hands, the alarm went off, and the TSA guy says, "awe, that things been giving false positives all day. Don't worry about it". Made me feel real safe and confident in our high quality airport security!
  14. Wow! That complicates things even more. So we get a response from the head of NROI that says one thing, and they set it up differently at their own World Champs. Not a whole lot of consistency there. Guess I am not surprised. USPSA hasnt shown any attention to SC since they bought it anyways.
  15. Yup. Have a SteelMaster with the 90. Much lower which is nice and have never had a single jam with it. I personally like the looks of it better than a normal mount, but thats obviously not a performance issue. I have noticed that it blocks the vision on the left side a little, but primarily on close targets in Steel Challenge. Havent noticed it with USPSA type matches though. Not themost experienced with an open gun, but thats what i have noticed.

    Bulk BBs

Whats your favorite brand of BB and where do you get them from?
  17. Chatanika Ironman!

  18. Molded plugs are nice. After a while on a long day though they can become a little uncomfortable in the ear canal if they dont fit just perfect. I had to get new ones made every year or two as your ears change over time. New they should be great but they dont last forever.
