  1. I picked up a few more ETS 22 round 9mm magazines a couple months back- CHEAP. I think they were around $17 each. Finally used them this past weekend in a steel challenge match. No malfunctions from 4 more brand new out of the package magazines. No break-in needed. I still prefer the feel of a factory Glock magazine with a TTI basepad, but for the cost you can't beat the ETS magazine.
  2. I'm more interested in the "SF" trigger. I don't know how ot convert a newton to lbs, but its lighter and 1/2 the travel of the standard trigger.
  3. funny thing with some of the cheap handguards- You'll find keymod turned both directions on a lot of the Chinese rails. Balls go to the rear by actual spec, but because they copy one side from US made products, and then mirror it, you'll see if balls front on one side and balls rear on the other. (By balls, I'm referring to the circular part. I'm not a keymod fan and it reminds me of anatomy.)
  4. A 147g 300blk is doing about 2,000 fps at the muzzle, right? slow 55g 223rem is doing about 2000 fps at 220 yards. Shooting steel at 50 with the blackout is about like shooting steel at 250 with 223. It won't harm AR500. Velocity is what damages steel, not diameter or bullet weight
  5. One of my all time favorite stages was year #2 in KY- before Cowboy Town had any cowboys. What made the stage was all the furniture in the pig barn that you had to shuffle through while shooting rifle targets inside.
  6. Oh. Yeah, I don't really follow that. Hopefully Vortex as fixed the Eotech reliability problems with their UH1. Very similar reticle, better battery life supposedly. But, it's not on the market yet, so some patience will be required.
  7. I have a Sig m400 carbine. It's been a reliable rifle, and proven to be accurate. If you have limited options available for rifles, the Sig should serve you well. It's just not your typical 3 gun ready model. The trigger is likely not acceptable, and you may want a comp more ideally suited to 3 gun, but those are both easy to change.
  8. I don't know what you mean by "factory", but for non-magnified optics in Limited division, it's hard to beat the trijicon MRO or Eotech. Mro is a crisp dot, but for any matches with long range, it's downside is a lack of a 3.5 illumination setting. 3 is too dim for anything other than heavy overcast, and 4 is too bright for anything short of full sun. Eotech has had reliability problems, but the 1moa dot is ideal. Wait for the new vortex uh1 to hit the market before buying anything.
  9. I think I'll just wear my earpro and eyepro with blinders from stage 3 to 4 to limit the enticement.
  10. I love that Remington has taken 30 years to get into the plastic fantastic market. And it doesn't offer anything over the Glock, Sig, Springfield, S&W, Canik, Walther, HK, Ruger, etc
  11. It would be tough to pick a favorite stage. 1, 2, 4, 5, 8? 4 probably made me the most physically tired, but 5 was close. 2 had cool props between the flash bang, foxholes, and trenches. 5 was some HARD pistol and rifle shooting. 1 had the furthest rifle and slug targets I've ever shot in a match. (or shot at in the case of the slug target as I did not hit it.) 8 was a cool rifle position after a decent run through the desert on pistol targets. Great job, Ken, Brian, Sam, and all the crew at HaH. You guys know how to put on an event for the consumer. This match is a MUST-SHOOT every year. I have some video I'm uploading to Youtube, but the files are large, so here's a facebook video to hold you guys over that didn't make it.
  12. It shouldn't malfunction if it's in good condition and lubricated. "It eats anything." Just make sure you use 2 3/4" shells, not 3".
  13. I have a SX1 that was my father in laws. Beautifully made shotgun. It eats any type of 2 3/4" shell stuck in it. Just keep it lubed and the gas cylinder clean.
  14. Is centerfire rifle prohibited at this range? (seems like I've heard that before as the reason there is no 3 gun)
  15. I'm looking forward to this match in May/June also! Thanks for the efforts.
  16. Vlad- no, the hatch was suppose to be closed for everyone. But with a 140 second stage, I can say there is no reason for a re-shoot because the hatch was left open prior.
  17. For those of you who don't Facebook and haven't seen the various match videos already, get something to drink, pop some popcorn, and here are my stages 5 and 8.
  18. My memory is shorter than any of the stages, but this may have been the most difficult BRM in KY yet. I finished up 16th in Tac Ops, and I believe my shortest stage was in the 125 second range. Longest was over 170 seconds. On the clock shooting was 1,346 seconds according to Practiscore. That's 3 majors worth of shooting based on some matches total times. My stage from start to finish to re-start for the next shooter was 250 yards. That's 24 MILES of RO'ing, excluding walking to the port-a-can or getting something to drink. And for a match like this I'm happy to do it. I've been happy to be a part of the DoubleStar family for over 4 years now, and the company supporting a match such as this makes me that much more proud of our relationship. Thanks to Andy, OB, Paul for taking care of us ROs when we need something. And thanks to the shooters for having great attitudes, even on day 3 of the match. Bryan Ray
  19. "Are you here to shoot? Or dance?" From Jim or "no choreographed drag race" from Mark P These comments alone are enough to make me want to shoot this match next year.
  20. I like shooting 110-125g fast projectiles out of my 300blk as much as I do subs. They hit quite a bit harder than 223 at 100 yards. 300blk is so much more versatile than anything else in the small platform AR. I have a 8.5" pistol. It's scary quiet with subs, and shoots really well with supers.
  21. Sounds like a great time, and I've already heard about the awesome facilities at K&M from some of the guys that have shot your DMR matches. Unfortunately, that's the same weekend as the Fort Benning 3 Gun in Georgia, and the Hard As Hell Multigun in St George, UT. Which means a lot of 3 gun competitors are already going to be committed. Good luck with the match, gentlemen.
  22. Samson makes an Evolution for DPMS 308. Both G1 and G2 http://pic100.picturetrail.com/VOL615/4020916/23612160/411759850.jpg
