  1. +1 for the AMP37. They are hands-down the best shooting investment I've made.
  2. Ok....I'm impressed. You'll have to tell me about this at the match this weekend.
  3. As far as I know, no real-steel parts will fit the HiCapa. Nice thing though is you can buy HiCapa-specific accessories to bling-out your GBB to be *this close* to your real one for a fraction of the cost of the real parts.
  4. I've got the flat profile on both my previous 3-gun rifle and my SBR and I like them. If you're well-experienced with the standard mil-spec trigger on an AR, then you may prefer the curved profile. If you shoot a 1911/2011 and want something closer to the feel of that trigger, then the flat profile may be your cup-o-tea. Mechanically, they're identical. It boils down to which one YOU prefer profile-wise.
  5. I never found a tightbore barrel necessary in a pistol. Your typical barrel is 6.08. Going to a 6.03 or 6.01 will only give you a marginal increase in muzzle velocity. Not worth the cost IMHO. For the record, the only reason I upgraded my previous version is because I was heavy into milsim airsoft, and I beat the crap out of my equipment. I wasn't convinced the plastic slide would hold up under the abuse. The GBB I have now is bone-stock and works just fine for my 3-gun training needs.
  6. Only thing I can really think of is the 1050 has the swager. If you're not going to be processing military brass, then the 650xl will probably be more than sufficient. I LOVE my 1050, but if I wasn't processing .223, then I'd probably have a 650 instead.
  7. Stick with the "hi-kick" version. It'll do you just fine. The stock hopup is the best there is, so no need to mess with it. If you want something to better mimic proper weight, you might consider an aluminum slide upgrade. Guarder makes some great aftermarket slide upgrades for the HiCapa. if you do that, you might need/want to upgrade the recoil spring also. Not really needed, but it makes cycling a bit faster/harder. slide -> http://www.evike.com/products/30480/ spring -> http://www.evike.com/products/44380/ I will probably be adding a magwell flare to mine to match what I'm used to on my real one, but other than that, mine is bone-stock. I've had one in the past that I went full-bore and did the slide, springs, nozzle, and mag valves and it hit HARD! When I got out of the milsim airsoft hobby, I sold it. Silly me.
  8. I *think* the answer is yes. I can't imagine why it wouldn't work for both.
  9. Just to clarify, if I use my carbine as my precision rifle, I can have a bipod attached, correct? I don't see it specifically called-out in the semi-auto division, so I wanted to make sure before Saturday. Thanks.
  10. Heard some scuttlebutt this weekend about a possible "change in management" for next year. Might be why we don't know dates yet.
  11. Did it. Felt like crap and moved like molasses, but ended up doing OK. Unfortunately, it was a night match, so the whole Nyquil thing wasn't in the cards.
  12. I've been looking forward to the Walking Dead match for the past few month. I've spent time getting my gear ready, getting some extra "stuff" to shoot at night, etc, etc. ....and then, Mother Nature blows in 2 days before the match with some allergen which my body vehemently detests. 2 sleepless nights and about a cubic butt-ton of snot later, I'm sitting here contemplating if spending a night outside in the cool Texas air would be a good tactical move to make. Lousy, this is.
  13. If you're too much over the SAAMI spec for the case, then it's entirely possible the finished round won't headspace in the chamber properly and let the BCG close fully. Too short isn't a problem. Too long is. Additionally, if you're loading long-range precision stuff, it's critically important to have consistency from round to round which includes the all the components, and ....yup, you guessed it....case length.
  14. I personally don't like Evike, but many others do. I got screwed by them on more than one occasion, but they've supposedly rectified their "issues" from the past. I've ordered many times from http://www.airsoftgi.comin the past and never had a problem. Honestly, I ordered most of my airsoft stuff from http://www.wgcshop.com in Hong Kong. Never once had any problems.
  15. I'm using an ALS for mine. I took a heat gun to the bottom opening, got it nice and soft, inserted the gun, and it made a perfect form for the end. It sticks out about 3/4", but it's not going anywhere. Nice thing is I can still use the same holster for my 5".
  16. if you're really fixed on sub-$125, then the JG will do the job. Just don't expect it to last too terribly long. I've worked on several JG gearboxes "back in the day" and they're....well....crap. Every now and again, they'd get it right, but they're mostly slapped together pieces of junk that make lots of noise. If you want a true training weapon, then look at the KJW M4 gas-blowback series. If GBB isn't your thing, then any of the TM metal-bodied AEGs will be FAR superior to anything that Jing Gong will put out.
  17. Good call JJ. I'll make sure to do the switch-around this weekend. As long as I don't have to move the trim motor, I'm happy. Setting that up was a PAIN!
  18. I'm not at home, so I'm going from memory.... Prep head: Station 1 - decap (Lee universal decap die) Station 2 - primer pocket swage Station 3 - empty Station 4 - empty Station 5 - empty Station 6 - resize/trim Station 7 - empty Load head: Station 1 - loose resize (mostly just to clear out any media from the flash hole) Station 2 - neck flare (Lee universal neck flare die) Station 3 - prime Station 4 - powder drop Station 5 - powder check Station 6 - bullet seat Station 7 - taper crimp I don't usually have the neck flare die, but I had a bunch of flat-base "blaster" bullets I wanted to use up, so I needed a neck flare before seating. Usually, station 2 is empty
  19. I used to use my LnL AP to load .223. 1 word....PAINFUL! The loading itself wasn't an issue, but the case preparation beforehand was extremely painful and time consuming. Switching to the 1050 with an RT1500 trimmer toolhead setup was worth its weight in gold in terms of time saving. I can now process brass as fast as I can pull the handle, run it through the tumbler, then load them up. I did 1000 rounds this past weekend in not quite 3 hours and I took my time doing it. That was filthy brass to loaded rounds. The same amount of finished rounds would have taken me days previously. Can't really put a dollar value on that, but if I could, it would be huge.
  20. I didn't have the full-on ammo plant, but I did have the LnL AP with the case feeder. What I expected was an experience similar to the 1050. What I got was an exercise in frustration. 1. The case feeder would not reliably feed cases without jamming in some sort (tried with 9mm, .40 and .223 and experienced similar results.) 2. The mechanism to seat the case into the shellplate needed to be "tuned" for each caliber based on rim diameter. 3. With .40, the EZject system wasn't so EZ as every 3-4 rounds would not eject and hang up the entire system. I didn't experience that on any other caliber, but .40 is what I load most, so it was a significant thorn in my side. I've since sold it and gone all 1050 for everything, and am much happier. The LnL ammo plant certainly has potential, but it probably takes more time and effort than I was willing to put into it. Quite frankly, the 1050 just works out of the box.
  21. I've not seen anything yet in either email or online postings. IIRC, we got the match book with stages and round counts about 2 weeks out last year.
  22. Wait....what??!?!? The LnL bushings ONLY work in the LnL presses from Hornady. Methinks your contact at the gunstore has no clue what he's talking about. Anyway, to answer your question, I have 4 toolheads for my 1050. 1 for prepping .223, 1 for loading .223, 1 for 9mm, and 1 for .40. Yes, that was a butt-ton of money spent, but it takes up way less space on my bench to have a homemade toolhead stand than it does to have another press or 2. Plus, loading on the 1050 is just so much fun, I'd rather just use it for everything and be done.
