  1. To answer your question, I've always had good luck with the KKM barrels. I've put one in both a Glock and an M&P and noticed a considerable tightening-up of my groupings over the stock barrels.
  2. I'm thinking that it would interfere, yes. Did you get the vent-rib barrel? If not, you might be able to put the Benelli M4 ghost-ring sights on it. I'm not 100% sure about that, but perhaps someone else here can chime in that would know for sure.
  3. Unless you really want to play in the Open division, stick to your factory sights or an aftermarket replacement like the ones already mentioned. Having a red-dot on your shotgun is fun, but unless you plan on running a souped-up pistol and a Saiga/X-Rail, you'll find yourself very quickly outgunned. Been there, done that.
  4. Vortex HD 1-6 all the way. I've had mine for a year now, and it's fantastic. I've played with the Swarovski and the Leupold options, and I wasn't as blown-away as I was with the Vortex. It's not perfect, but IMHO, it's got the best marriage of the best features.
  5. I recently purchased a Safariland ALS for a Springfield Operator (sorry, I don't recall the model number offhand, and I'm not at home to check) and used a heat gun to expand it to fit the 2011 grip. I also had to take a dremel to the side to allow clearance for the mag release. I've been very happy with it so far. It provides a very positive lock-up so you don't have to worry about it popping out while transitioning from one spot to another. I've got friends that are using the Blade Tech WRS and they seem happy with them. I think when you order one, you'll have to tell them it's for 3-gun so they'll manufacture it to secure the gun with the hammer up or down. A stock one won't allow the hood to close with the hammer down (or is it up....I can't remember now.)
  6. I'm a recent convert to gas pistons on my competition rifles, and I can honestly say there is a difference. Mine have the Adams Arms XLP retrofit kit installed. I have noticed a significant decrease in the amount of felt recoil impulse which leads to faster follow-up shots during stages. Another obvious side-effect is the upper receiver doesn't get all fouled up with deposits like a DI system does which makes cleaning my rifle fun again. That being said, unless you are dead-set on a piston system, stick with a DI system for your first foray into the AR platform. It's a tried-and-true system that just runs with pretty much any ammo you throw at it. Parts are easily found at any major distributor. I can say my AA kits have been problem-free since I installed them and I would highly recommend them to anyone wanting to make the transition to gas piston, but for someone just getting started with the AR, I would recommend DI systems to begin with. Just my 2 cents....take it as such.
  7. Planning on it. I wish there was online registration using matchdirector or something along those lines. That would make it truly "first come, first serve." Either way, since it's my first RM3G, I'm hoping to land a spot.
  8. Welcome to another fellow Texan. If you're in central TX, and shoot multigun, we've probably crossed paths once or twice.
  9. I ran an SLP for a couple years before I decided to make the switch to an M2. We are still getting to know each other, but it's turning out to be a good relationship so far. The only thing I'm still getting really used to is the fact it shoots so high. I'm taking steps to rectify that situation this week.
  10. I live about 40 miles NW of Austin, TX.
  11. Evening all! I've been trolling here for a while now, and just recently started getting involved in some of the discussions, so I thought I'd take a minute and introduce myself. I'm Hial, and I've been shooting 3-gun for a couple years now. I've tried my hand at USPSA a bit also, but I really prefer the multigun matches. I'm slowly betting better, but I've got quite a ways to go before I can consider myself "good" at the sport. Every match is another opportunity to learn from people WAY better than me.
  12. I had a blast at this one. It was certainly one of the most challenging matches I've been to. Kudos to all the event staff and ROs for running a smooth match. It certainly helps when you don't have a bunch of "range nazis" running the show. I think the only big thing that I would have changed would have centered around the black paint used on the long-range steel targets. Specifically, on stage 8, when you got onto your sights, those 10 targets across the back disappeared into the trees. I realize this match is supposed to be challenging, but the point of the stage is to shoot the target, not hunt around and find the target. When all you can see is an orange stick (and sometimes not even that) it doesn't help much. I know that There was lots of discussion on the field about stage 10 also. While it was a fun stage to shoot, unless you are in the top 5% of shooters, you didn't have much of a chance in finishing the stage. There were several of us who ran the math and decided to "game it" instead of shooting the entire stage in order to pick up the stage points. I think if the 2nd long-range array was removed from that stage, or if those 3 targets had been mixed in with the other 5, it would have been an AWESOME stage. Just my 2 cents....take it as such. I'm looking forward to FB3G 2015. I'm there for sure!
  13. If they're anything like last year, IC will be fine. In fact, given the fact there's 15 slug targets (potentially) you would be smart to stick with IC anyway. Once stages are posted, you'll have a better idea of what to expect, but you'll probably be fine with IC.
  14. Cool, thanks Jesse. I knew it was in the middle of BFE, but I wasn't sure if it would be an issue or not. I used 69gr last year, and managed to knock over all the LaRue targets with no problems. Just hit 'em high, and you're good. As pissed off as people were at those last year, and based on what Jim said, I don't expect there will be any and/or it won't be required to fall if hit can be confirmed.
  15. With Varget, you're going to be hard-pressed (no pun intended) to not compress the powder if you go past 24 grains. I know my rifle likes 23.5gn of Varget under a 69gr SMK.
  16. For people that bring ATVs, is there a place to securely park them onsite at the range overnight? I'd like to bring mine, but I'd rather not have to deal with loading it up at the end of each day to drag it back to the hotel (and find a place to park a truck/trailer.)
  17. EBB (electric blow-back) replicas are junk. Save your money and skip the frustration of these things. You'd be better served by getting a less-expensive GBB and be done.
  18. Let me guess....you weren't turning the mags upside-down to load them? I know that was my problem when I first started in airsoft and couldn't figure out why my GBB would only get about 1/2 a mag out before running out of gas. IIRC, the KJW series are notorious for leaking around the baseplate. Lubrication sometimes works, but if you use a SMALL amount of liquid gasket around the area, it'll seal those things up good.
