Screw size for Dillon RT1500 trimmer motor
shakman replied to shakman's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
That’s my next intention. I was just hoping that someone would know off the top of their head what the correct size is and save myself some hunting. I figure somewhere in this immense pool of tribal Dillon knowledge, someone would have the answer. If not, then once I figure it out, then I’ll share it. -
Mornin all! I recently picked up a 2nd RT1500 so I don't have to switch back and forth between .308 and .223 for case processing. I went with the "motor only" option since I didn't need a 2nd switch assembly, but failed to notice the fact that it didn't come with a cutter blade. I ordered a blade, but for some odd reason, it didn't come with a screw. I *really* don't want to disassemble my .308 trimming motor just to get the screw dimensions, so I'm hoping one of y'all happens to know what size that little screw needs to be. Exhaustive google searching has revealed nothing. Thanks in advance!

Well, I must admit....I did the same exact thing. What I did was drill a 1/16" hole in the center of the extension, and used an allen wrench inserted through the hole to push the grey part up and out of the way. This allowed me to remove the basepad. I tried everything else, and this was the only thing that worked.

Shockbottle 100 rd hundo case guage 40xl
shakman replied to Dirtchevy841's topic in Gear & Accessories
Long story short, you won't regret it. I was having SERIOUS ammo issues, and it saved my bacon right before a major by helping me identify LOTS of "Glock bulge" loads. The hundo combined with a Lee "U" die, and no more bad loads. -
Generally, a larger capacity.

For Tactical Scope division, is it safe to assume that the Magpul D60 is considered a "drum magazine" and thereby prohibited? -

300* for 30 mins. Works great. -
What's the hot setup for 2011 mags these days?
shakman replied to Smokecloud's topic in Gear & Accessories
I just recently picked up 4 MBX mags to try and rectify some of the feeding issues that had cropped up with both my 2011's. Long story short....AWESOME! They fit 21 reloadable (I shoot .40) and I've had zero problems since switching. Turns out that my previous issues were caused by STI tubes that just need to be tuned. The feed lips are all kinds of jacked-up, but I didn't notice it until I took some calipers to them. -
+1 on Silencer Shop. Good guys, and great place to shop. If you're going to stay subsonic, the Octane HD .45 is a grand choice. It'll work with 300BLK subsonic as well as any non-magnum pistol caliber you want to throw down the tube. It's completely user-serviceable and works great. I've got a buddy that uses one on his FA MP5, and its STUPID quiet. I tried mine on a friends 300BLK and it also was very quiet.

Mossberg 930 JM Pro, Stoeger M3K, or something else?
shakman replied to JesseM's topic in Shotgun - Technical
If it's Stoeger or Mossberg, then stick with Stoeger. They haven't been out as long, but they seem to have a better track record than the 930. I've personally witnessed numerous 930 meltdowns at matches, and I wouldn't wish that on anybody. I'm sure Stoeger has lemons also, but I haven't witnessed one yet. The other thing to keep in mind is the "extra" stuff you'll probably want to do to whatever you end up getting. I'm talking about lifter work, opening the loading port, extending the magazine tube, etc. Plan on another few hundred for that...unless you plan on just running it bone-stock which is a perfectly fine choice. -
Mossberg 930 JM Pro, Stoeger M3K, or something else?
shakman replied to JesseM's topic in Shotgun - Technical
What does that go for? $2k ballpark. It's 100% ready to go for 3-gun though. -
I don't think you can even get the 1200 from Dillon anymore. I think they "retired" it in favor of the 1500. I don't even see the 1200 on the website anymore.

Buy once, cry once. Get yourself a Hayes Custom Guns Benelli M2, and be done. -

powder spillage on a 1050
shakman replied to billdozer's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
That's pretty much where I'm at also. The problem is I can't find TAC anywhere. H335 is fairly common, but it's not as good (in my experiences anyway) for longer-range loads. Back to OP's question.... Some people have also had good luck with polishing the funnel part of their powder drop and using some sort of anti-static wipe on the inside of the entire powder drop assembly. This won't fix the bridging problem causing a "log jam" of powder, but it's another thing to investigate. BTW, which powder are you using that's causing you the problems? -
I picked up 4 of the MGM mini auto-poppers last year, and they're fantastic. I use them for everything from close-in shotgun work to intermediate-range unsupported rifle. Since they're not static, the .223 doesn't make any bigger of a mark than my .40 does. MGM really stands behind their products and is a huge supporter of the 3-gun hobby, so I have no problem spending a little bit more money on their website.

powder spillage on a 1050
shakman replied to billdozer's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
Is it spilling from being jarred around in the shellplate, or is it coming out of the powder drop as a result of sticking? My 1050 is HORRIBLE about powder sticking using extruded powders (Varget, N140, etc.) and I have yet to find a good solution other than switching to TAC or H335 entirely. -
I sold my LnL w/case feeder setup for .223 for $750 about a year ago. Took a bit of a hit on it, but not too bad. I posted it on a local IDPA mailing list, and got a response inside of a couple days.

How many matches do you shoot per month?
shakman replied to garbanzo's topic in Miscellaneous BEginners
Generally, I try to make 2 local 3-gun matches a month plus live-fire practice twice a week. -
Please try measuring the case wall thickness - on my cases there is a VERY noticeable ridge both ways. I always use the pins, so I wouldn't have a ridge because of that. I probably should have mentioned that in my original post.
-
I'm fairly new to the FART myself, but have already tumbled several thousand cases. I've not seen/experienced any of the things you describe. For reference, I do 9mm, .40 and .223. I also did a small lot of .45 for a buddy.

I'm signed up for one of his "advanced" classes at the end of next month. Looking forward to it....I think. Not sure I want to know how bad I suck.
-
Did the same exact thing on mine. I ended up drilling a 1/16" hole in the bottom center of the basepad, used a hex key to push the plate up, then slid off the basepad. Not ideal, but it got the job done and I didn't have to sacrifice the mag (which was brandy-new BTW) or the basepad.

Not a fan of the Dillon Roller Handle
shakman replied to farmland's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
I had the IF ergo roller handle on my LnL AP, and it was OK. I like the round aluminum roller handle that came with my Super 1050 much better. It might be the height the 1050 is at compared to the LnL that is making the difference, but it just feels better in the hand for a couple hours of pressing out cartridges.
