  1. It was cool; though not completely foreign. Years ago I had the luxury and honor of weekly practices with Todd and John Benton. Todd had told me the night before the shootoff that it had been a long time since he'd had an opportunity to kick my butt, commenting that he would enjoy doing so immensely on the following day. My butt kicking was delayed until the second round because Todd was late to the shootoffs due to an ESPN committment. So the match officials allowed William Rudder, the 9th overall competitor to join the shootoffs with Todd arriving when he could. That matched me with William instead of Todd in the first round. True to his prediction, I was the lamb led to slaughter in the second round. It was just like old times. Wouldn't have missed it for anything.
  2. Good to meet Erik Warren and Eric Sites at the FGNs. Bill Seevers was in my squad and I had a blast shooting with him. Flexmoney......wished you would have shot the match as you were slated for our squad as well. A couple of squad 10 members, who will remain unmentioned, wanted me to give you a hard time about turning chicken, wimping out, etc., but I think you're a good guy so I won't even mention it.
  3. Thanks. I shot a Glock 34. Finished higher than I was expecting and ended up in the shootoffs also. Made it through the first round, but drew Todd in the second. Needless to say my day was over after that. Anyway, I had a lot of fun. Not sure about the Beretta model Ernest shot, they all look the same to me. I wasn't paying a lot of attention to what everybody shot, but reflecting back, I'm thinking Phil shot a wide body. Maybe he and Travis will post and reply.
  4. Congratulations Chriss. You getting' any sleep at night?
  5. TGO shot the 6" 45 and I think Barnhart may have been shooting a single stack also. Todd - LDA, Sevigny - Glock, Langdon - Beretta.
  6. I've heard all the construction has been finished. I'll miss driving through that creek.
  7. Even at the associated higher costs, I prefer the polo style shirts. Classier look plus they keep the sun off the neck a bit better.
  8. Shot this one again Saturday at a local club match. Seems like every time I shoot this classifier, I do so in the rain. Anyway....shot production, Glock 34, Uncle Mike's holster, left to right on all three strings. Draw was OK, nothing great, first reload felt pretty good, second one wasn't quite as smooth. 84 points 11.19 seconds 7.5067 HF later update: 79.018% per USPSA (Edited by cpty1 at 7:41 am on Nov. 8, 2002)
  9. I hoping before long. That .9 seems more like 90 sometimes.
  10. I just noticed in the "top 20" page in the USPSA website that there was only one GM in production division. Master class was plenty busy though. Interesting.
  11. Nothing quite as fulfilling as productively "contributing to the deliquency of a minor". Savor those precious moments.
  12. Welcome from a fellow Glock shooter. As I'm sure you've already seen, this board has tons of great information with great people willing to share knowledge or just discuss the ups and downs of life and the shooting sports.
  13. Storm, even though I shot last years 5 second standards at the Limited Nats I had completely forgotten about that stage. What a memory! The stage design is similar comparing this year to last. Winning scores last year were Limited - 112, Lim-10 - 87, Production - 86, and Revolver - 105. The primary difference in design seems to be, this year, distances are generally closer, but each target is partially obscured with hard cover, where last year the full scoring area on each target was available. That 105 score in revolver was awesome last year. I don't think Lim-10 and Production scores last year are indicative of what the winning scores in those divisions will be this year. Having last year's scores as a barometer, I agree triple digits will be needed to win the stage in each division. I will predict that 85 to 90% of the possible 120 points available will win the stage in each division, with the production division winner having the lower score.
  14. Wow Shooter Grrl, that's a pretty high expectation for the revolver shooters on those strings with a mandatory reload. I think the stage will also be plenty tough for the production guys being scored minor, with holsters and magazines behind the centerline of the body. Getting the shots off is challenge enough for me, but doing so with good hits and nothing in the hard cover will be a stretch. IMO, any score even pushing or in the low triple digits from the revolver and production guys would be an awesome performance.
  15. In looking at the stage diagrams for the FGNs, stage 16, the A Zone Standards looks tough. Anyone care to predict what score will win the stage in each division - Lim-10, production, and revolver?

    Trigger Pin Problem

Spock huh? Guess we've got a case of a self-inflicted Vulcan death grip.
  17. ROTFLMAO, I love what I suspect is merely a typo. Hey, Singlestank, can you reply? A new moniker :-).
  18. Man, that's a tough one. I don't know that I can contribute anything but this observation. I find it unusual your hits are to the lower right of the A zone. I would think most shooters would generally hit more lower left as a result of a psychological desire to avoid the hardcover, which I understand in your scenario would be to the right of the swinger since your engaging the swinger when it's in the 9 o'clock position. Were you engaging around a barricade or some other obstacle that would force you out of your normal index and might cause such consistent groups out of the A zone of the target?
  19. Yeah, the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. Even when you jump the fence and look back to the side you were just on.
  20. I have both the CR Speed and the Safariland, and like the CR Speed better. I really like the reversed velcro application on the CR Speed, and particularly dislike the hooks used to secure the Safariland. I was initially concerned about the lack of hooks on the CR Speed with them only utilizing the velcro to hold the outer belt to the inner, but have had no problems at all. The hooks on the Safariland make taking the belt on and off more of a hassle than the CR Speed. Especially if you hook the belt in the back because you have a mag pouch in front where a belt buckle would otherwise be located. (Edited by cpty1 at 9:43 am on July 2, 2002)
  21. Limited 54 points, 6.70 seconds, 8.0597 HF Started in the left box engaging targets in left to right order. Proceeded to right side box and engaged targets right to left. Fired the first shot coming into the right side box too quick and pulled a D hit. I felt pretty good about the run otherwise. later update: 84.839% per USPSA (Edited by cpty1 at 7:37 am on Nov. 8, 2002)
  22. Man, it feels good to get back to normal.....at least as normal as I'm capable of getting anyway. I'm reminded that sometimes we all take a lot of things for granted. Little things that don't seem like a big deal until they're gone....like breathing and walking around without someone under each arm. After sudden medical problems left me in the hospital for a week and out of work for a month, I shot my first two matches last week and last weekend. Felt great to be back in the swing of things and back shooting. I'll be basking on the beach next week and showing off my new scar. A nightmarish thought for those of you who know me I'm sure. hehehe. Looking forward to the FGNs next month. Hope to see many of you there.
  23. I use the Uncle Mike's for production, but it does not cover the muzzle on a G34 which was one of the requirements listed. That is, unless they now make one that does and I'm just not aware of it.
  24. I think we've all been guilty of the ole "do as I say, not as I do". Good advice is still good advice regardless.
  25. I think that's why this section is called "Accomplishments", and not "Bragging". Congrats on your win. Pretty impressive to place second overall while shooting minor. Keep up the good work!
