  1. This should answer a lot of your questions: http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?...c=32029&hl=
  2. Glyn has a pair of big fuzzy slippers he wears on his hands. VERY FUNNY LOOKING Funny looking........maybe. Warm.........yes!
  3. I believe the posts you have seen refer to the difference in fps, therefore pf, of bullets being shot in different temperatures. Example: A bullet with powder X will chrono at 1380 fps at 40 degrees yet the same bullet might chrono at 1330 at 75 degrees. I had this problem with IMR 4756 and have switched to VV N105 which, for me, does not show these temperature sensitive changes.
  4. Up here in NH and VT we have to shoot in the cold or we don't shoot for 6 months of the year. Thermal underwear, boots, coats, gloves, hand and feet warmers, whatever it takes. Keep warm between your stages and I take the gloves off when I am shooting as I like to be able to have skin on trigger. At my club, Green Mt. Practical Shooters, we have a match in February and March in the snow and cold........nothing stops the matches. Our match directors just have to be smart in setting up the stages so the shooters are not put in a dangerous position. It all works if you understand, and prepare for, the conditions you are shooting in.
  5. I had the same problem when I first got my 650. Just take the spring under the indexing ball and cut 1 coil off it. If still a problem, cut a little more until it indexes gentler and your powder stays in the brass.
  6. I have the Brazos shield and Ed Brown safeties on both my open guns and like the combination very much. I did have to taper/contour the right hand side safety where it was digging into the bone at the base of my first finger, but good now. Just my .02!
  7. Thanks, that's the one.
  8. A little bit ago I was looking at a website and they showed a brass striper that they had come up with. It was a plastic base and held 2 markers so you could double stripe your brass. Does anyone know where I saw this?
  9. Thanks. How about the GSI bullet feeder? Are they now available with the rotary feeder they show on their website? http://www.gsiinternational.com/pages/1/index.htm What is their cost for the "total" system? Does it work? Which is better, the GSI or the KISS? Thanks again.
  10. On page 21 of this month's Front Sight there is an ad for a bullet feeder that works with the 650 and 1050. Does anyone have any knowledge of this one made by Emidio Gaspari? Anyone have/use one on the 650? Do you have to feed bullets into the plastic tube, or is there a hopper that feeds into it automatically? Price seems great compared to the $500 models you see. Any information appreciated. Thanks.
  11. I have the Brazos offset mount and CMore on both my Open guns and really like it. Easy to get used to and rock solid. I did not want a blast shield so this was perfect for me.
  12. I'm shooting on Friday this year, looking forward to getting out of NH for a few sunny/warm days. Anyone else from New England shooting Friday?
  13. If using the G34 am I limited to using 10 rd mags or can you use hi caps?
  14. chrisa006, I see you are in Danbury, CT. I grew up in Georgetown and still have brothers there. Where do you shoot matches around there? I read somewhere that I need a jacket to cover holster and pouches, yes? Suggestions?
  15. I have been shooting USPSA for 3 years (Open Class "A") but I do have an IDPA club in the area and would like to try IDPA matches. I shot USPSA Production division for 1 summer with a Glock 34 and Production legal holster and mag pouches. Can I use this same gun and gear for IDPA matches? What division would that put me in? What else would I need to acquire to be in accord with IDPA rules? Any and all input appreciated. Many thanks.
  16. Sunday May 6, 2007 at Green Mt. Practical Shooters in Morrisville, VT. Usually 4 classifiers and 1 or 2 field courses.
  17. I came up with a variation of some of the ideas listed here for collecting spent primers before they hit your floor. Easy to set up and 100% reliable. See thread here: http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=42137
  18. If you are using a Dillon XL650 I have put together a very simple, 100% effective, solution for spent primers all over the floor. Many thanks to other BE contributors that have also worked on and posted their solutions to this problem. Directions here for anyone interested: 1. Cut the base off a 45 acp brass (I used a dremel with cutting tool). Now cut serrations around the other end and bend them back to look like Figure 1. 2. Take a piece of 5/8" OD x 1/2" ID vinyl tubing (of desired length) and slit one end about 1/2" with a utility knife. 3. Using a hose clamp, clamp the brass to the end of the hose as shown in Figure 2. Note: Do not shove vinyl tubing all the way up the brass to the serrations, leave just a little space. 4. Loosen the screws that hold the primer cup bracket in place, or take them all the way off if easier for you. 5. Slide the brass into the primer cup bracket with serrations on top of bracket and up against underside of the platform, should be a perfect fit. Brass should be positioned near the opening of the cutout, not pushed all the way back into it. Reinstall/tighten screws . Brass/hose will be held in place by serrations being squeezed between the primer cup bracket and the bottom of the platform. See Figure 3. 6. Drill a 1" diameter hole in your reloading bench just inside the right hand bracket of the strong mount (as you stand in front of it). I drilled from underneath as reloader was already secured in place. Push hose down through this hole (see Figure 4)and into some sort of collection jug (I am using an empty antifreeze bottle). Cut to length but remember that hose will rise 6" +/- when handle is operated, so don't cut it too short. When your case is deprimed the old primer drops directly into the vinyl tubing and travels down to collection jug, no more primers on the floor.
  19. George, Quick lesson on disassembly of this area? Easy to do?
  20. Thanks for all the information..........one last question. How do you grease the mainshaft pivot pin? No holes to squirt lube into so.....? Thanks again.
  21. Is there a good place online to buy grease (with a needle nose applicator) for lubing the Dillon machines?
  22. I am new to the 650 (always used a 550). What was that tip about removing the primer cycling piece when testing? What do I do? Thanks.
  23. I am upgrading to a 650 after many years on the 550. I have 2 questions: 1. In which position on the toolhead do you put your different dies? Obviously #1 is sizing/depriming and #5 must be my crimping/sizing die. But is there flexibility as to where you put the powder and seating dies? What about the "empty" position, just leave it blank or get the powdercheck system? What do you folks put in the #2, #3, and #4 positions? In what position do you place the bullet before seating, same as the seating die or in that "empty" position? 2. Any tips you can pass on about the initial setup of the 650, am also getting the casefeeder and a strong mount. Anything to make process go smoother? Help always appreciated. Thanks.
  24. In case you haven't heard, the Area 7 match will be combined with the AWARE Invitational hosted by Green Mt. Practical Shooters in Morrisville, VT from July 19-22, 2007. We will also be hosting the Area 7 in 2008. If you have never been to the AWARE you are missing a top-notch match, great stages/props etc. In combination with Area 7 this should be a great match. Hope to see you there.
