Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Maybe I was lucky when I zeroed mine, but I only shot about 5x5 rounds to hit the spot. And I have the adjustment on the inside, towards the slide. I took a lucky guess by pointing and sighting the gun toward the paper, and the second serie was almost there. The fine adjustment was a bit more tricky, and you have to think it through. +1 on small steps for U/D. I havn't had any problems with blast from blowholes, only a bit of oil from the ligthning in the front of slide and from the barrel in the chamber area (makes it a bit messy on both sides of the lense). I've redused the amount of oil to prevent this. A Blastshield won't do you any good on set-up like this due to the fact that it will block the vision.
  2. I get 19 (+1) non-reloadable in a Rescomp 126mm +Bolen Spring/Follower + SPS plus 1 pad- combo. I need to trim the follower for the last round, though. And make sure that the spring sets just right into the pad. I havn't been able to do so with a Dawson +1 because of the way it is fixed on the tube. Maybe the latter will set right after a little while, but I havn't tested it yet. This is for a non Sight Tracker gun... (STI Edge).
  3. Are you talking about a IPSC box legal magazine? IMHO impossible!
  4. Thanks Howard, I'll look into it. Have you had any issues with the follower in the Recomp mag? Mine have a tendency to twist towards the left side. The lips/upper part of the tube doesn't guide the follower enough for it to stay horizontal. The same happens in a SPS tube (even worse). I haven't tried it in a STI tube yet, because it won't give me 19 rounds. Rune
  5. I've now shot quite a bit with my 30-rounder IPSC legal mag, and havn't had any malfunctions. It works flawlessly! No tuning of the body, I've only put together the candy parts, just making sure that the last coil sets nicely into the S.N.L. Starting with 30+1 is definitely an advantage on certain stages... My 19-round Rescomp mag in .40 does not work, though. Last round won't feed due to the follower. It sits to high in the mag when empty, and keeps the gun from locking up. Actually I'm not able to put the mag into the gun when its empty. I don't see an obvious sollution on this problem. Any ideas? Or is the Bolen follower ment for .38 super/nine only? Thanks, Rune
  6. I've measured my IPSC legal 30-rounder (SPS,SNL) to the spec, and I have about 1mm to play with. I won't go any longer though, to be on the safe side. No need to go for a Bolen pad, then. Another thing, I've tried to put the Bolen Spring-follower combo in a couple of .40 mags, one SPS and one RHT (K-mag), to be specific. It doesn't seem to fit very well, though. The follower is on its way out of the mag at the top, and is twisted to one of the sides. I havn't test fired it yet, but i doesn't look promising.
  7. Would a 4mm Bolen pad add more space than a Dawson S.N.L? I have an untuned SPS tube with Bolen Spring/follower and a SNL. It is a very thight 30 rounder. I wouldn't bet my life (or a Level III) on it. I believe I might use the 4mm pad for a IPSC legal big stick. Or I could get a package deal with tuned mags from Howard/SC, but living overseas, it might be difficult? Thanks, Rune
  8. I took out the primer punch system and checked for misalligment between punch and hole, but couldn't find any. Cleaned the whole thing and reassembled it. After that I loaded 500 rounds in 35 minutes with only two unprimed rounds. Almost acceptable ... So it seem that having a clean system is crusial. But I have to reload some more before I can settle with it. I Hope it will be fine for the next few tousands of rounds. Also, I've noticed that amount of powder spill has decreased lately, but I really don't know why. Good thing though...
  9. I had my first DQ last weekend as well. Finished three paper targets through an opening in a barricade. Unfortunately I fired an extra round just over the targets when I was leaving to the next shooting position. Had my eyes on the next port, so I didn't engage. AD and DQ... the only one in 13 years in the game. Hope it stay that way. PS! I drove 8 hours to get there. Went out on stage 4. Dedicated squad patcher the rest of the match
  10. Sorry for not following up on this topic. I've been on a vacation. I'll look into the tips and tricks very soon. Thanks, Merlin!
  11. I'm constantly "in need" of new parts and pieces A shooters disease? Latest is the Barry's mount and some Brazos Custom internal parts. I've been having FTF and some times FTE for a long time, and I've tried a lot of set-ups; Aftec, Brazos Off-set mount, gunsmithing etc. without any luck. Finally it seems to be cured. I believe that the Barry's mount saved the gun from becoming spikes and nails Now I only have cosmetics left. Maybe a Ti comp from Bedell, have the grip textured etc.... Or just shoot and have fun!
  12. I some way you guys do the right thing when it comes to gun investments. Buy a good working gun early on in your shooting career, and save money (and fustration) later on. I've spent more $ on my used SPS than the cost of a Bedell, due to malfunctions and "face-lifts". It really bothers me that I didn't get a custom gun in the first place! With all due respects, I would at least try other stuff now in the beginning before settling with 3N38. You never know... (and we don't have that many options, why not try the few we have?)
  13. I've read both the manual and other troubleshooting sources, but havn't been able to solve the prob. @WillM: with all the respect, I don't think the slide is that dirty. The pic is shot in marco, så the "huge" grain is next to nothing. In my opinion it is almost impossible to keep the machine sparkling, and it shouldn't be necessary either. If you have to spend more time cleaning the reloader than actually reloading, there's something wrong with the way it is designed (not that I think it is). Thanks for the advice.
  14. I've trimmed the sleeve, and the bar is now moving freely. I still get crushed primers every now and then. They have a tendency to come in groups (probably the first one causing the others). I've started to feel when it occurs, so I can avoid bullet seating on unprimed cases, but this slows me down. And thats what the 1050 is all about; speed. I'm trying to use smooth strokes and moves, but still some failures.
