  1. Another great sponsor donating a firearm to the match. Sturm, Ruger & Co., Inc. is one of the nation's leading manufacturers of rugged, reliable firearms for the commercial sporting market. Last year, they donated tons of gear, knives and apparel to the match. This year, they return as both match and stage sponsors and are donating a SR1911 Model 6736 45 Auto. It's a classic, original 1911 Series 70 design including two mags. See the spec sheet at: https://ruger.com/products/sr1911/specSheets/6736.html
  2. They discontinued all the others this year.
  3. Well you're not giving any specifics on budget. But I was able to pick up a bull barrel STI Eagle with 2 mags for $1300 or so on Gunbroker in great shape with all of the modifications a USPSA shooter would do anyway. The eagle for whatever reason seems to be sold cheaper than an Edge. There are a few more new ones out there now for 1400-1500. The newer Eagles won't have an adjustable sight, but I'm not sure I've ever used the adjust-ability of an adjustable sight. Deals are out there. RowdyB just sold (I think?) his .40 cal Eagle for a heck of a deal on the Enos classifieds too.
  4. We hit 100 registrations this afternoon. Each 100 registrants, we're giving away a Hundo case gauge. After random draw, the first Hundo winner is...Bruce Carby. Congrats Bruce. I'll be emailing you to determine caliber of choice. A lot more to come. Sponsors have been amazing. All stages are sponsored, and we have about 9 match sponsors as well. Looking forward to passing on their contributions to our registered participants. Thanks everyone! Kyle & Ryan
  5. I mentioned we had TWO builds going this year. Kenny Polhamus of KAP Guns donated both firearms for the builds (thanks Kenny). The 2nd build is being completed by Rich Dettlehouser of Canyon Creek Custom. Rich is customizing a Springfield Armory 45acp 1911 with parts donated by Evolution Gun Works Inc along with a Nowlin Arms barrel and trigger. Pics will be shared when available. Thanks go out to Rich for volunteering his time and signature crafting style for a custom 1911 for the 2018 Sectional. Contact Canyon Creek Custom
  6. This year for the Sectional, we have two custom gun builds in progress by two amazing craftsmen. Work has begun on both. Mark Sorensen (Carne Customs) is customizing a 9mm Springfield Range Officer. Evolution Gun Works Inc, donated a lot of the performance internals. More details and pictures to come. Thanks for donating your time and craftsmanship to the match Mark!
  7. https://practiscore.com/2018-illinois-sectional-presented-by-ci-shooting-sports/register Registration for the 2018 Illinois Sectional presented by C.I. Shooting Sports is now open. Follow the Facebook page for frequent updates: https://www.facebook.com/IllinoisSectional/. Big thanks to Stephen Stewart of C.I. Shooting Sports gun store and state of the art indoor range for being our title sponsor this year. The match is the second weekend of August (10th - 12th). Once again, registration fees include lunch. Back by popular demand, Bandana's BBQ will be the lunch provider for attendees. It's going to be a great match. Sponsor and other relevant match related announcements will follow soon. Thanks, Ryan and Kyle
  8. Thanks Mark. Please feel free to reach out to us at USPSAIllinoisSectional@gmail.com when the time comes to start getting your paperwork ready to attend next year.
  9. Happy to announce that planning is officially underway for the 2018 Illinois Sectional. Ryan and I have decided to tackle the event once again. Location will once again be Havana, IL and the match is scheduled for August 10th - 12th, 2018 with staff shooting on Friday the 10th. The match will be predominantly shot in a full day format with some split day offerings. Additionally, Friday (staff shoot day) will have competitor registration offerings for schedule flexibility. I'm also happy to announce that we already have our Title Sponsor. Thank you Stephen Stewart of C.I. Shooting Sports (CISS). CISS was a stage sponsor for the 2017 Sectional and when presented with the opportunity to sponsor the 2018 Sectional, they jumped immediately onboard. It really is a great facility, with a good selection of USPSA oriented items and friendly staff. CISS also hosts weekly indoor USPSA matches on Tuesday nights. (http://cishootingsports.com) More announcements and sponsorships to follow and we'll keep you all posted as necessary with any match updates. Thanks for coming in 2017 if you made it. Hope to see you all again in 2018. Thanks, Ryan Clouse Match Director Kyle Smith Assistant Match Director USPSA Southern Illinois Section Coordinator
  10. I recommend never to mix/match spring and follower companies. Or Baseplates, if you can help it, but that's less of an issue. It isn't unreasonable to replace your followers once a year or so, but they need replaced far less often than springs.
  11. Here are the videos I reference in regards to mag tuning. The first one in particular should be of interest. https://youtu.be/zEVB_V2TwTQ https://youtu.be/agpkm-mWFYM https://youtu.be/Kzpvi-sPt5E https://youtu.be/utbCUeFRtTg https://youtu.be/Vpz9-3pjJb0
  12. I've seen two classics posted on Facebook that had rounded trigger guards. I thought all the master series frames had squared trigger guards
  13. The match is now one month away. Thanks once again to everyone for making this successful thus far. We’re in the home stretch and I wanted to share several announcements: 1. Squads are starting to fill up. There are a lot of gaps in some squads that may need to be consolidated in order to free up availability for additional groups of shooters that desire to be in the same squad together. I’ve opened up a Friday squad (Squad 1) to accommodate schedules in the event it works better for you to go ahead and shoot with staff on Friday the 11th. Feel free to move to the Friday squad if it is a better fit for your schedule. 2. SNS Casting is accepting orders now for free delivery at the match. Space in limited on the truck so be sure to get your order in sooner than later. www.snscasting.com 3. Ray Hirst of Range Master Steel has also extended a free delivery offer for the people shooting the match. If you contact Ray before the match, he can deliver Poppers, Movers, etc. to the Sectional and save people the cost of shipping. Products can be viewed at www.rangemastersteel.com or email Ray at Ray.Hirst56@gmail.com or call at 217-779-2013. 4. TechwearUSA has also created the match jersey and is offering them to you at a discounted price. Shirts can be viewed and purchased at http://techwearusa.com/product/2017-illinois-sectional-championship-techwearusa-v-neck-jerseys/ If you want them ahead of the match, I’d probably order sooner than later as there is some processing and shipping times to consider. Thanks again! We’ll see you in about 4 weeks. Ryan
  14. We've gone a little quiet while everyone geared up for and had a blast shooting the SNS 400. Jake put on a great match and our friends at SNS Casting Jim and Ryan Stinar supported that match as well as the title sponsor. We've been working diligently these past few weeks and are happy to say a lot of progress has been made. Only 59 days until match day. We've got the Techwearusa staff shirts ordered for all of the staff that are taking the time out to work the match. We finalized our trophy design and are getting ready to go into production with those. We've confirmed our prop sourcing plan from the local clubs in Illinois that are helping us put this shindig on. We've started to build the stages in Practiscore and will be running tests with a mix of scoring devices soon. We're putting the finishing touches on the matchbook and will get that out to you shooters soon. We'll have an update on the Revolution Concepts Custom 1911 (thanks Matt Painter) that will be raffled off at the match soon that Wilson Combat, Robert Serva of Fusion Firearms, and Angela Nowlin of Nowlin Arms have all contributed generously to put together. Remember, at 200 registrants were going to be giving away a Hundo case gauges to two lucky shooters in the caliber of their choosing, so get those fence sitters signed up! We're at 195 right now. Thanks everyone and we'll see you in August.
  15. I have a Trojan 9, and so do about 5 of my shooting buddies. We all run our ammo out to about. 1.160.
  16. What is your OAL? I've heard of 40 Cal single stacks detonating out of battery when the primer hits the ejector. One of the reasons people started loading longer. For light strikes I'd check if your firing pin channel is clean, if the toolhead on your press is tight enough, and make sure you weren't using S&B or some other rock hard primer. Just things to look into, i would be calling STI too though. I don't get what they were thinking discontinuing the 40 Trojan (a great gun) and now the only single stack option for a 40 from them is a gun that costs as much as an entry level custom.
  17. TechwearUSA has finished designing the match shirts. Link to their store front provided below. The match will be providing staff the staff version of the match shirt to staff. http://techwearusa.com/product/2017-illinois-sectional-championship-techwearusa-v-neck-jerseys/
  18. Less than 3 months until match day. Having 188 people registered for the match is a good thing. Doesn't quite roll off the tongue very well when people ask "How many are registered?" However, 200 and saying "over 200" sounds much better. So, to celebrate, as soon as we hit 200, the match will give away a Hundo case guage (in winner's caliber of choice) to two registered individuals. Another Saturday squad has been opened to accommodate scheduling.
  19. Happy to announce Sturm, Ruger & Co. joining the Sectional as another Gold level sponsor! Even yet more stuff to distribute to our attendees! Thanks Ruger!
  20. Happy to announce Matt Painter of Revolution Concepts has offered to build a custom 1911 for raffle at the match. Specific details, pictures, and updates will be shared here throughout the build process. Thanks Matt for your sponsorship and volunteering your time, services, and expertise to offer this one of a kind opportunity to match attendees. 100 days until match day!
  21. Registration update: Thanks to all that have already registered. There are only about 100 days left until match time. Saturday all day sqauds are filling up. There is still a decent amount of slots left for 3 of those squads. We have some room for expansion in the schedule to add additional squads if the need arises so don't let that deter you or your friends from registering. Sunday all day squads have a lot more availability with 4 squads essentially wide open. Feel free to contact me (2017IllinoisSectional@gmail.com) if you have any questions. Current Registrations (by division and class):
  22. The match is back online in Practiscore with all data intact. Craig, send Ryan or myself a note if you need anything.
  23. It looks like PractiScore is having issues right now. I will keep an eye on their Facebook page. I currently don't see the match in my Admin panel.
