The Prodigy, this generation's STI Edge
TheSandMan491 replied to sandflea316's topic in 1911-style Pistols
Springfield's always had decent barrels, but I worry about shoooters dropping $1,200 on a prodigy and an additional $2,000 on upgrades. In the Edge days (when I started as well) it was a trigger job (on stock, tool steel components) away from being match-ready. -
Mark 7's new reloading press "Genesys"
TheSandMan491 replied to StefVanHauwe's topic in non-Dillon Reloading Equipment
Here is the text contained in the post for non-FB users: "Since there has been a lot of Genesys posts lately . And I\u2019ll start off with although a lot of us are in this group, we do not run it. We are here usually on our spare time because we are enthusiasts ourselves.\n\nGenesys is mechanically done , it has been for some time , consistent with the timeline we shared at SHOT last year. Electronics is what is causing delays. Genesys uses a completely new motor and control , and developing the software \/ firmware is taking longer than expected. We are really excited to bring this to market, it\u2019s concept is all new which our industry needs. But we are waiting for everything to be perfect before letting a single one out the door. When we have a date we will share, but we are loading on them internally. \n\nApex 10 is still a great option and will continue to be , even after Genesys releases . The press is solid , and with last years price reduction, more affordable then ever. \n\nMark 7\/ lyman are committed to pushing boundaries and creating new products and improving current ones. Here is a video of me priming on a Genesys before SHOT this year . This is what we have to share at this time, and we appreciate the patience" -
I think you have some lingo mixed up so it’s tough to decipher. Sounds like maybe you have an STI grip and an aluminum frame? The frame ramp cut does have to match the barrel ramp style. Ramped barrels come in 2 varieties, Wilson/Nowlin and Clark/Para. once you confirm confirm the barrel in your Para upper matches your frame cut, the frame can be fit to the slide/barrel.

Mine is 48oz and is very close to perfect. Could maybe go a little lighter to speed up transitions, but it has zero recoil. 5.4 in short dust cover butler cut. Aluminum magwell. Bushing barrel https://imgur.io/a/OZvdSY0

Can you post a picture of the existing safety (Prior to the SVI part), specifically the locking block, and the sear in question. I helped a friend work on his Trojan a while back (one of the first Gen ones with the horse head rollmark) and lots of things were strangely out of spec. For example, the distance from the bottom of frame to the bottom grip bushing was way longer than any of my guns (even my 2 second Gen Trojans), and so his techwell magwell wouldn’t fit. this Trojan also had a big Chunk of weld added onto its safety’s locking block to make it “reach” the sear to block it.

SVI Infinity 2011 5in vs 5.4 help needed
TheSandMan491 replied to EVANB's topic in 1911-style Pistols
My limited gun is a sight tracker, SRO gun is a bushing. when I compared the 5.4” to 5” 40s, both were sight tracker barrels. -
SVI Infinity 2011 5in vs 5.4 help needed
TheSandMan491 replied to EVANB's topic in 1911-style Pistols
I’m fond of the 5.4”. Extra sight radius (on my limited gun) and velocity over a 5”. Shoots much softer than the 5” infinity I compared it to. Transitions a little slower. Brandon recommended I went with the 5.4” for my SRO gun. It’s what I'm used to, and the extra velocity will be nice. -
The easiest fix might be a thumb safety with a thumb shield. Limcat makes one I’ve used.

My hope is that folks see it as an early season warm-up. Whether that's as a reality check before the main season, or a goal to stay training over winter, that's how I see it as a northener. With everything we have planned for attendees, and with it being an un-sanctioned match, I hope it'll be a fun time without performance expectations like say a Nationals or Area match would have for some people.

thanks for your help spreading the word. I’ll post here when the next version of the rulebook is posted. I want to get a stage or two out soon so folks know what kind of flavor they can expect. Expect them to be closer to an IPSC style in terms of hit factor / technicality. Being an unsanctioned match, we’re able to do some interesting things that would normally not be allowed within the rules we’re familiar with here in the US. I am trying to find that balance of interesting and challenging without being cheesy.
