  1. IPSC Production rules are more strict than those of USPSA which is more popular on these boards, so you'd be best to read up for yourself: http://www.ipsc.org/pdf/RulesHandgun.pdf Welcome
  2. I was born and raised in Peñasquitos; I shoot about one match a month between Iron Sights in Oceanside, Pala and sometimes Norco. Definitely let me know next time you're in town, I have plenty on guns and gear you can use if you like.
  3. Just the loss of a factory safety device.
  4. I just loaded some at 1.245" and some at 1.235", they don't cycle by hand very smoothly
  5. The difference may be in my cheap calipers, but the chamber measures 0.386" and the fired brass measures 0.388".
  6. The 38 feed issues were really strange, the rounds would hand up half way into the chamber cocked at an upward angle OAL is 1.260" with an Xtreme RN 115gr. Maybe I'll try shorter.
  7. CHA-LEE turned me on to a 'smith in Colorado named Rick Hebert who did the cuts, he's not afraid to work on Tanfos and turns it around really fast, he did the cuts on my 6" as well. I'll get out the calipers and measure my chamber as well as my brass.
  8. The spring weights are listed on the springs kilograms, should be a ~5.XXkg and a 6.XXkg
  9. I got a chance to shoot today and it's awesome! With a 9.3oz slide I don't know how much less violent it is (I'm going to try to borrow a V12 from a friend for some comparison once I get a chance), but I can't wait to get it to a chrono and do some load development. The 38 loads were 10.7gr of N105 which doesn't quite make major in my 4.9" Benny Hill with two big holes, I also shot some of my 9 major (8.8gr of HS-6) from my CZ which make 170 pf in a 5.1" barrel with no holes and they were much softer. Strangely I couldn't get it to feed with the 38 mags I brought, but with my 9mm mags and ammo it ran 100% Unfortunately I had too many variables today: I tried some Arredondo springs/followers in both K38 and 'old style' mags with Henning 140mm pads. Next time I'll try stock followers and Grams to see if either of those work.
  10. The Match fits best in USPSA Limited, but as it's 9mm you would be stuck shooting Limited Minor; it's not the end of the world, but there is a scoring disadvantage.
  11. For one I'm not sure if you're going to find anyone making a barrel longer than 6" to give you something sticking out of the slide to get a comp on. For two a 6" slide plus 2" or so of comp is going to steer like a battleship. The issue in Open is not getting enough velocity to make major, but getting enough gas to keep the gun flat, most Open shooters are loading well beyond the minimum for major.
  12. The holster cants outward to make more room for your thumb between the pistol and the hanger.
  13. Tony, I love the Tanfos but if you're looking to save money I don't think a Match is the way to go. There are a precious few gunsmiths willing to do this work for you. If you want to do it just to walk the path less traveled I can commiserate You can pick up a used 2011 for under $2K and you'd be hard pressed to turn your match into a decent Open gun with a big stick for that kind of money unless you want to do the work yourself. The comp is the tough/expensive part
  14. MecGar is making the OEM mags for the current large frame Tanfos. They will need an extended base pad for use with the mag well, either the IPSC or the USPSA from Henning would work: http://henningshop.com/t/magazine-parts Since you're shooting 45 I would suggest shooting Limited 10 since even with the USPSA pads, Grams springs and followers you'll only get 13 rounds. So just get the IPSC pads and use the factory springs/followers, they should get you 10-11 rounds.
  15. I've shot an electronic trigger on a single shot .22 Olympic Free Pistol; the pull weight was 17 grams
  16. I'd love to shoot it tomorrow, but I don't think I'm going to have time to load tonight.
  17. The comp on the GT is lacking, so I made the second port bigger with the idea of getting a little more out of the comp, then the holes: my first three holes are further from the chamber, so my theory is they will have less effect on velocity, also the idea of putting them at 12 o'clock is to fully utilize the gas with down force; with the opposing V ports, roughly half the force vector is canceled by the port on the other side. As saratoga pointed out, there may be some stabilizing effect provided by the V ports so hopefully my four v ports will be enough for that. My idea is to ream the three inline holes bigger if I decide it's worth trading powder for less flip. I've been playing with a Bedell super shorty 2011 that has a 4.4" barrel with three small holes and unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to make major with a whole case full of my favorite powders. For that one I might also try 124s to reduce the powder needed.
  18. Just use a slide stop pin, no way to lock open the slide though
  19. I had one, the block takes some fitting for a smooth draw. I gave up and went back to CR Speed.
  20. New style mag report: K10 with Henning base and Arredondo spring and follower: 19 rounds tight, 16 to slide in freely K10 with Henning base and Grams spring and follower: 20 rounds tight, 18 to slide in freely K40 with Henning pad, Grams spring and follower: 20 rounds reloadable, slides free, 1.135" max OAL Old style chrome 40 tube (no spacer) Henning pad, Grams spring and follower: 20 rounds reloadable. In my preliminary testing it seems to feed fine with all lengths of ammo, but only time will tell...
  21. If your only Limited slide is the 9mm the .40 cone barrel won't work since the breech face is too small.
