Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Probably looking into IDPA more as I'm on a budget and IDPA matches typically require less ammo. Or at least that's what I've heard. Correct me if I'm wrong.
  2. I am interested into getting into competitive shooting and at the same time, I need a new CCW weapon. I am a huge Springfield Armory fan and see they have released the Range Officer Compact and Champion models, both in 9mm and .45 ACP. If you had to buy one gun that you would use as EDC and use for competition, what would it be and what Division of USPSA or IDPA would it be? I'd prefer to use a 9mm as the ammo cost is cheaper and I do not currently reload. I don't know much but I thought I read/heard bull barrel 1911 will make it illegal for certain divisions. I'd like to be fairly competitive with this gun. I know practice and mechanics are going to be more important than the gun. As my father always tells me when golfing after I hit a bad shot and complain I need a new driver, it's not the arrow, it's the Indian.
  3. Louisville. Found 3 USPSA matches a month I can go to at two different Clubs. One at Silver Creek Conservation Club and the other two at Bluegrass Sportsmens League. I'm leaning towards USPSA to start but may consider IDPA at some point. Any other recommendations are appreciated.
  4. I'm assuming I would be at a huge disadvantage in open compared to a lot of guns. What about if I used the gun without the RMR? Would it be legal for Production or Limited? Thanks
  5. I've read concerns about this but have yet to confirm whether or not it will fit in the box. With the threaded barrel, suppressor sights, and 15 round magazine, Im leaning towards probably not.
  6. That would be fine. I like shooting it without the RMR. I also have a Glock 19 but enjoy shooting the FNX more and produce more accurate shots. Have never shot competitively but have been shooting regularly for the last ten years. Was hoping to be able to try IDPA without a major investment
  7. Can I use this gun in IDPA? With or without a Trijicon RMR? If so what divisions? Thanks
  8. Can I use this gun in USPSA? With or without a Trijicon RMR? If so what divisions? Thanks
  9. New member from Kentucky. Looking to start IDPA or USPSA this year. Have some questions and from what I've read this seems like a good place to ask. Hope to learn and contribute to this community for years to come.
