  1. For all of you who use new brass at major matches...Jeff Bartlett at www.gibrass.com has new IMI (Israeli) .40 S&W brass for $65/1000.
  2. Come on guys....this is an effort to help Chuck out not have a Ford vs. Chevy debate. For a system with a Core 2 Duo processor (which is 50% more efficient than a P4 D965) with 1 hard drive, 1 Optical drive and a single, not so power hungry video card, a quality 430W power supply is fine. Heck, a Dell XPS 210 with a very similar setup comes with a 275W power supply and I am sure Dell builds more PC's than any of us. He also stated he really has little time to play as we keep him busy. Lastly, Medal of Honor and Call of Duty are well served by a Radeon X1950,Core 2 Duo E6600, and 2 GB of 800Mhz RAM. Lee
  3. Chuck, That is a great quality power supply. It is plenty of power. Now if you bought a $20.99 430W power supply that would be an issue as they are crap. Were you able to test without the sound card or DVD? Lee
  4. My favorite lolad for my 6.5/284 is 48.5gr Reloader 22 at 3.01" with a Berger 140gr VLD bullet. The gun is a REM 700 action all slicked up with a 27" Shilen # 7 Ratchet rifled barrel. I rarely shoot it anymore as it's no fun to go shoot 5 shots in the same hole at 100 yards. Best groups so far .114" @100, .323" @ 200, and .422" @300 yards. Lee
  5. Yes, STI grips work on an SV. I just bought and installed one for this exact reason. Triggers are also interchangable. Lee
  6. Forgot the best part...the group cards that come with a factory SV. The good: 1.6" 5 shot 50 yard group with the .45 barrel. Awsome... The great: .5" (yeah, 1/2 inch) 5 shot 50 yard group with the .40 barrel. Unbelievable. I have a few rifles that will not do that. I would never believe a pistol capable of that level of accuracy without having the cards to prove it.
  7. Look what I went and picked up today. It is my new IDPA ESP and CDP gun as well as my USPSA Limited gun. I have .40 S&W and .45 ACP barrels and mags. Haven't shot it yet but it feels oh so good...wow...cough, cough...I don't think I am feeling to good...might have to call in sick tomorrow
  8. Here's mine from 12-23-05. Pretty nice Christmas present to make MA, if just barely. Glock 34 with KKM fairly tight barrel... Stage 1 s1=2.15 s2=1.95 (just a bit too fast, missed head) s3=2.12 s4=4.76 s5=2.85 s6=5.67 s7=3.59 PD(9)=+4.50 T=27.59 Stage 2 s1=3.76 s2=3.58 s3=7.81(really go to work onthis) s4=4.51 PD(17)=+8.50 T=28.16 Stage 3 s1=13.69(missed one, cr@p!) s2=13.69(no not a mistake) s3=5.12 PD(19)=+9.50 T=42.00 Total=97.75 45 total points down really sucks but I still made it. Now where is my SV?
  9. Sting Ray looks like the way to go for me. The wider loops should provide a more stable platform to the belt. Lee
  10. C'mon guys, I've been reloading for 20+ years and don't think I would push it to quite to this edge. A .40 S&W can easily make a safe and soft major load. While I am just as much a gamer as anyone, I like all my fingers just where they are and as I shoot SV's I don't want to chunk a $2000+ gun in the trash trying to find the ultimate softest Charmin Ultra poof load. Spend your time practicing with one of the lower pressure safe loads and you will be better off in the long run. Obviously, this is just my opinion and YMMV. Good luck either way. Lee
  11. I have 3 manuals and the Hodgdon website saying 3.5 as the MAX. I shoot IDPA minor at 3.1grains and this is a fast powder so no way is 4.6 a good idea. I am sure it will make MAJOR, once...major pain. Don't do it. Your wisdom is telling you right this time. Lee
  12. I shoot a 6.5/284 with a 27" Shilen 3 groove Stainless match in # 7 contour. This is on a Rem 700 action and a HS Precision benchrest stock. Also has a Jewell trigger at about 12oz which is the sweetest trigger I have ever felt. Best 5 shot group at 100 yards is .114". Sure there are many fine barrel makers but this is the only one I have ever had the shoots this good every time. Lee
  13. + 3 on Clays, 3.8-3.9 grains over a Precision Delta FMJ at 1.250 is a great load.
  14. This is a small operation, I experienced slow response via email but they were quick to answer the phone and were very nice to deal with. Call Xaivier or Tamia. TOLL FREE 877-951-1890
  15. I just got my GSI International bullet feeder for my 650. Brand new so it is a little stiff but looks like a very good machined product. Wait till I get'er broke in. They will have the electric bullet rotary feeder part ready sometime in January. Sweet! They make them for Dillon 650's and very soon for the 1050. For more information see: www.gsiinternational.com Had a few issues with the first 50 or so rounds but after that and with a smooth stoke it is getting better. While it "might" not be faster than I can do by hand I really like not having to touch anything but the handle. Check out this video of me loading 14 rounds in 40 seconds. Not trying to go fast but that is 1000/hr easy. http://www.commencefiring.com/files/Specia...ulletFeeder.avi _________________ Lee Neel
  16. All, I have re-written a large portion of my IDPA Match scoring database. What’s New: Total workflow re-write. Support for up to 14 stages! String Calculator was added to the Normal Match data entry form. Enhanced Reporting Instructions for Use: Microsoft Access 2000 and higher or the Microsoft Access Run-time Engine 2000 or higher is required to run this program. If you do not have Access 2000 or higher you can search the web and find a downloadable copy of the Microsoft Access 2000 Run-Time engine. After the Run-Time engine is installed this program will work. It is possible to receive 3 warning upon attempting to start this program. These warnings are due to the programs use of macros to calculate match scoring and in no way will harm your computer. If you receive these warnings you will want to answer, No, Yes, and Open. Though I cannot guarantee this software will not harm your computer, I assure you I provide it as a measure of good will and it runs perfectly on my computer. If you have any questions/concerns/comments please PM me or email to info@commencefiring.com. Yes, documentation is included. If you wish to give it a try and save yourself a lot of time please use this link: www.commencefiring.com/IDPAScore-v2.0.zip If you like/hate/want it to do something else please provide some feedback to the email address above. 17. Yes, I think it is worth it. It's not so much the recoil as the muzzle blast from the 1150fps rounds that gets me. I reload a FMJ 147gr Precision Delta along with VV N310 at about 875fps and it is so smooth it seems like I have extra time to be sure I have a great sight picture. I gave away all my Blazer after shooting this load for the first time. Lee
  18. I love the Precision Delta's. I just order 4k more! Zero's are good bullets as well but are more $$$. For $125/2k delivered they can't be beat. I am a long time benchrest shooter so I have a habit of weighing bullets, (all rifle and about 1 in 100 pistol bullets). In my last 2000 .40 180gr PD's they all weighed between 179.9gr and 180.1gr on my Dillion electronic scale.
  19. If you can get an SVI in a week without AET go for it. I have 2 with AET and 1 without and I really don't notice any difference.
  20. My son uses a 31" Wilderness Tactical belt with the plastic liner. It is very stiff and works great for our IDPA shooting.
  21. My son started shooting IDPA at 11 1/2 year of age. He started with a 1st Gen Glock 17 (No finger groves, slightly smaller). He shot that very well(safely). He is now almost 13 and I just gave him an SV. He has pretty large hands and it fits him and he has confidence in the pistol. I like it having a thumb safety and he knows I listen for the "click" of the safety going off on the push out to the target. Lee
  22. I think you should make the slide serrations a trade mark statement of brand like: B for the back S for the front. Make them where everyone knows you have a Bar-Sto!
  23. I have a .280 Ackley Imp with a 26" Pac-Nor and use 140gr Nosler B.T.'s with 59.5gr Reloader 22. Not a hot load but does the job and is very accurate in my gun. I load as long as possible, about .050" short of the rifling in the barrel.

HTRN, Totally agree that even though no high pressure signs are shown (flat or blown primers) that this load is MAX. That is why I specifically stated no shorter OAL than 1.160 and specifcally a copper plated (i.e. soft) bullet. I would not even try this load with a FMJ or HP. Thanks for the QL review. Lee
