  1. Oh how is the recoil response ? Rifle length gas systems tend to be a little bit softer. but i'm not against a mid length. Means i have all the parts i need already
  2. There's one now, i'm going to snatch it up!
  3. Thanks Daniel. Name doesn't bother me actually . I didn't have any idea that stoner was still making stuff like that . I just got an obermyer 5 r barrel. I freakin love em. What did you find that you were loading to oal wise? I load the 69 gr nosler and prob the 55 gr hornady as well once i get started again in 3 gun. I'm also so far sticking to 748 as powder . i love varget but too costly for 223. ar rounds. I'll go check out the stoner barrels now.
  4. Sweet !!! I'll check out some of those other options. I'm still torn about barrel length though. 18" seems to be all the rage but with a comp ( i've been eyeing the seekins ) that's damn near 20" which does make pointing a little slower . I'm just wondering if there would be any noticeable difference . just like in precision rifle builds there are 20" bull barrels that i've seen shoot sub moa out to 800 yards ( .308 ) just as well as a 26" barrel. decisions.........
  5. This is my new Akai Custom Limited Gun It shoots amazingly . Fast as all get out !
  6. Hi Everyone I'm upgrading my 3 gun rifle with a new 18" barrel . The usual answer is going to be JP . But knowing what i do about barrels from the precision rifle i shoot , I know there are far more great manufacturers that make fantastic barrels without the premium price tag that goes with the JP name. Any makers you like ? I've been checking out lija , shilen and brux. Lija being the front runner for price and quality . They have a fantastic drop in barrel that comes in at 2 lbs . Would you run a mid length or rifle length gas system? I know mid length systems have a shorter recoil response which can tend to be a nice blend between smooth and responsive . I currently run one on a 16" BCM barrel and it is great but does the longer 18" barrel usually call for a rifle length gas system. other info, i'm running an a2 length stock, jp low mass rifle length buffer and jp flat wound ar spring. My bolt is the bcm enhanced bcg thanks for any information you have Aaron
  7. I've done the green or red dance many times, and i seem to just keep going back to a standard serrated black front sight. As nice and bright as FO are i can't seem to find one that doesn't occlude the front sight with the ole fiber optic halo. I lose accuracy and tend to shoot high because im aiming with my dot instead of my sight posts . The brazos that is set back isn't bad but still , i'm far more accurate with black sights .
  8. I ordered a 40 sw dies set on March 11th , just got it yesterday . So that should give you an idea of the lag time. I have had all the other parts of my order for months . Seems like the dies are the ones taking the longest
  9. Check this thread out http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=52954
  10. I couldn't be happier with my 650. How many rounds i load vary at dif times a year. I load everything from 38 spec to 223 , and prob going to start making 308 plinker ammo soon as well. If you plan on pressing 1k rounds at a time or more then get a 650. The conversions are easy and you won't likely grow out of it any time soon.
  11. I installed mine and it's fantastic. Super easy to check my powder and case mouths
  12. Well first one to be eliminated is the comp tac infadel. Great holster idea but i find when trying to draw the gun my trigger finger is getting hung up on the clip due to its placement. Also because the kydex shell is mounted on such a moldable piece of leather it collapses into the holster body area. This makes the gun a bit harder to draw and certainly not as fast as kydex could be. I have a remora on order because i like to get one for pretty much all my carry guns. But i may go back to the silent thunder after all . The odessy continues
  13. True, but you are aware of the meaning of the phrase other then in old disney movies right ?
  14. Oh i know what the name means , just curious what kind of message you were sending using it
  15. I have a tuned mag that can certainly hold 20 , grams spring and follower , dawson tooless etc . Loads and drops super smooth, BUT I'm having a hard time getting my mag to catch when reloading if i have it fully loaded with 20. No doubt it's butting up against the extractor and the added spring tension of the mag is making it hard to seat. Is there a way to give the round enough clearance underneath the extractor so it doesn't require so much force to seat? Should i be looking at the mag, the mag catch , the extractor ?
  16. Hey man, you've already beat out the predictions . Stay strong and keep shooting and doing things you love .
  17. Just curious about the title of the post . Any particular reason you went with that?
  18. I love the garret products , but they tanked 2 of my orders so i'm a little hesitant to go back with them. For now i'm going to try out the Comp Tac Infidel Ultra . A decent sweat shield and only one clip so easy on and off being that i often go into venues that are illegal to carry in . i'll post my thoughts , but it's good to know there are so many good options out there. I still find myself going to my LCR , probably because of habit , but i'm excited to start carrying high cap . Extra comforting =)
  19. Thanks again for all the suggestions , still haven't decided on one , but i'm finding out about holsters that i had no idea existed
  20. Ditch the pro 1000. I started on it because my father had been given one as a gift , then gave it to me. I loaded for .45 and was getting squibs left and right. It was dropping low charges every 4th or 5th round. I would get rid of that pro 1000 in a hot minute and get nearly anything else. Most people here will say dillon , that's what i have . but the rcbs, or hornady are much better products then the pro 1000.
  21. I used to think that the Infidel was a nice holster, but not anymore. To date, the CCC Shaggy is the most comfortable holster that I've found. What backing do you have . I was thinking leather with the heat shield
  22. Thanks guys i'll check out the Shaggy and the Sparks now. I didn't know of the companies before
  23. What's on the backside of the kydex in the ctac? just kydex? or leather
