  1. The tape is a trick to helping with both eyes open shooting . Or if you want the effect of one eye shooting with having to scrunch up your face while doing it. Some rifle shooters think it relieves tension in your face muscles as well thus taking out very minute muscle movements.
  2. Hey man where were you in SoCal? I just got back from living right outside of LA for 8 years. GOOD FOR US!!!
  3. I'm there!! ....and here Jessie made me feel like a dink when I had no idea what this match was !!! Just launched a couple months ago....PFFFFT!!! I'm no super squad'r but why ya gotta be so mean jessie ?! huh? WHYYYYYY?!
  4. Well DUH!!! that was before i knew what match he was going to. GIve a guy a break huh? But i do like the Mr. T thing......all the bling is to distract competitors i bet .
  5. Ahhhh i see it . I'll have to pull a couple of mine to see what 's what . Great idea
  6. OH yeah that's right ,..........uhhhhh...... load 2 and quad load....uhhhh buy Mark's shotgun caddie and you're be and instant shotgun shell loading JEDI!!!!!!
  7. The who in the what now ? Us Carbine Association you say .......TO THE INTERNET !
  8. Hehehe true enough. I think it CAN be a double edged sword sometimes with people trying to come out and shoot and not knowing their guns let alone their gear. But on a whole the more the better I say. Action shooters tend to be some fantastic people . Wether is 3 gun , ipsc, uspsa, I don't think there is a sport that has more camaraderie and support then shooting. ps. your loading vids are looking sharp sir , let me know if you're down shooting in florida anytime , I need to steal some of your moves
  9. Pretty much anything that will take a tek-lok SHOULD work with the ELS system. I haven't begun to mess around with some of the other things like Cali Compet . Works but , hey if you need to, drill a hole!!
  10. Ahhh nice ! Good to hear . I took my gun out today and sighted in at 15 yards . Ran like a top. I think i'm going to like this limited stuff =) SCREW YOU SINGLE STACK!
  11. Hi Tom, It all depends on what you're going to do with it. The ELS system is awesome if you need to swap out a lot of gear. Like for 3 gun or if you only plan on having one belt for multiple shooting sports. If you don't need to be modular, any other belt is just as good. AA, CR, ELS, ghost, whatever you prefer will do the same job. Personally i run a AA belt for uspsa and an ELS system for 3 gun.
  12. Or as a pistol with a SIG pistol support cuff. Working on one in .300 BO. Wow now that is a pdw i can get behind. ......get it ? get behind ?! ha!! anyhow , that sig support looks straight out of a scifi movie. Robocop style. Have you messed with the support ? I know mako or one of those cheapo companies makes a little pistol buffer side saddle thing for your cheek. Will the .300 have a can as well?
  13. True, but then those shooters that have killer reloads will tank on pretty much everything else ......especially pistol stages . No ic and soft bird shot forgiveness there. Brian had a similar experience that he mentioned above. That same guy will also screw up long distance rifle stages because of ZERO trigger control . Yeah he can hose 10 yard targets fast as hell with an ar but push out to 400 and he times out. While those shooters may not be fun to shoot in a squad with, getting more to the sport , on a whole, can't be a bad thing. I'm hoping to up my quad load speed once i get my shotgun back from shay.......After having talked to Mark from carbon many times in many threads, i agree that having quad and dual load available on your belt and in your bag is important . Add in weak hand single shell reloading and you have it all covered. wash-rinse-repeat
  14. Thanks man , that's a great explanation on what crimp is actually doing . For me i had just come across some info in dif places that was referencing crimp being such a by eye thing. Which is what i used to do. I'd flare a case enough to seat a round without marring the bullet , and then I'd run a flared case up then turn the crimp die down etc. but i recently got a new very accurate digital caliper and i got to thinking , what are some good numbers for a good amount of flare and then where to crimp to afterward . For me , i found i need to flare the case mouth slightly wider now that i'm using plated bullets . They tended to shave a little copper trying to seat in the same setting as the montana gold i had pressed. Of course over expanding is something to worry about with case necks cracking and then over crimping can be an issue too. I don't want to be caught with high over pressure or cases that don't chamber . Luckily mine are chamber checking fine and firing fine already . I'm hoping to chrono it tomorrow and see what's what . Hopefully i won't have to adjust my recipe to make power factor
  15. I'll check em right now , so far i haven't seen it happen with my rounds ......... I'm back from my bench.....no setback at all 1.1805 before and after . Sounds like a may be good to go. Now i need to chrono it and be done
  16. Sweet Thanks Man . Just wanted to feel out what people were seeing on their calipers . This is my first venture into 40 territory so i'm working out my load. What are you pushing it with?
  17. Hi guys, Just curious what people tend to get in terms of measurements of their flare and subsequent crimp . Do you measure it from the interior diameter of the exterior diameter of the case mouth? I just don't want to be over-crimping . I'm not seeing any dimpling on the bullet and i'm getting decent accuracy, this is more of a technical question to see what the general consensus is . thanks ! Aaron oh let me post some of the numbers i get after resize before case mouth flaring .4175" after case mouth flaring .4335" after seating the bullet and crimping .4205 bullet diameter is exactly .4000" ( good quality control by x-treme bullets ) It's a 180 gr RNFP plated bullet seated to 1.805" for my 2011
  18. YOU CHEATER!!!! A 10.5 pencil barrel with a 5.5" flash hider ? So much cheating! That being said, i'd love to have that build as an sbr.
  19. Wow mark , how did you pull that off ?
  20. For all these reasons !!! I had the same conundrum . Bought a 650 and press everything on it save for my precision rifle rounds which i use a single stage press for .
  21. I snagged one of those ar stoner barrels . after doing some research i found out they were made by er shaw . It had all the specs i wanted, at a decent price. this gun is going to get beat up, thrown around , and abused, so we'll see how it holds up
  22. Man , i'm so so tempted . Pretty much the only one around . But i was eyeing a lija or criterion. Only issue is , who knows then they'll be in stock.
