  1. Hope you get to the bottom of this as there seems to be a lot of info here and on the CZ forum that's specifically devoted to the 75SP-01. Did you contact Cheely about checking the chamber? http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=205467 Also looking forward to your results from slugging the barrel. GOOD LUCK!!
  2. http://www.the highroad.org/archive/index.php/t-691176.HTML Is above applicable to YOUR CZ? Sorry, I'm blocked at work and using the cell...
  3. Still curious as to what your preferred OAL is....
  4. I've actually gotten 25yd groups similar to that during testing with at least 2, 10 round tests. IMO, absolutely un-acceptable..... If this is from your CZ, have you determined what OAL your particular CZ likes using something similar to this? http://www.czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=34225.0 Also similar posts on this forum by using a particular bullet and wooden dowel.....
  5. AJE: Good grouping, and thanks for posting actual results! Don't know if it can be......but here's what I'm hoping to improve on with the G17G4 rested at 25yds: Bayou 135g @ 1.135" 3.7g N320 Temp: 68* Avg: 991fps ES: 20 SD: 6 PF: 133.79
  6. I've read that the CZ's have a lot tighter chamber than the Glocks, which are HUGE! Was going to offer some 9mm/Glock info; but don't think it'll be relative to loading for the CZ. FWIW, my recent testing, which has been greatly hampered by the weather, is showing better results accuracy wise by increasing the OAL and bumping the PF to ~132-133....for the G17. Got some N320/147g Bayous loaded up at 1.142" to compare to the 135's; and see if a longer OAL might wake up the N320 loads. I've got some Titegroup but have reason to believe it would perform better with jacketed/plated type bullets. Also have quiet a bit of Bullseye that I'll probably try if the N320 doesn't work out. Hard to turn away from 8# of the N320; especially when so many shooters prefer it. IMO, if our guns & ammo aren't as accurate as possible, then our performance in competition will always be questionable..... Not sure if there's any Bullseye competitors here; but I think these comments are applicable to any serious shooter: http://www.bullseyepistol.com/cstomgun.htm
  7. Watching this with great interest......... Are you working on loads for the Glock or the CZ?
  8. I've never slugged a barrel before. I found the following article on how to. Would the 36 caliber bullets with a 375 diameter in the second link work? This seems fairly easy:
  9. Noticed several here were dealing with the dreaded "shaving" of the coated lead bullets; and most could eliminate it by using a larger "bell" of the case mouth. What really caused my dissatisfaction with the whole process was when I belled large enough to eliminate the shaving, I was having issues with the brass "dragging/shaving" when entering the Redding Micrometer seating die. Was more an issue with my 45acp reloads than the 9mm; both using coated Bayous. Had a discussion with "razorfish" concerning his DAA/Mr. Bullet Feeder setup being such a success with the stability of the bullet prior to entering the seating phase as he too uses the Redding Micro seater. His recommendation was to give the DAA powder funnel/expander a try as he had used one for over a year prior to getting the DAA Bullet Feeder system. So, I purchased one and have to say it has been one of the best additions to the XL650 I have ever tried! After the initial setup, I loaded up a dozen test rounds using the Bayou 135 RN, and after pulling, was getting zero shaving of the Bayou bullets. Here's a pic of some test rounds I was finishing up today that shows the minimal expansion that allows the bullet to sit "in" the case vs. at the very mouth of the case when belled normally on the XL650: Also noticed that johnsons 1480 was having issues with the 147g Bayous, so after finishing with the 135s I grabbed a new Bayou 147gr along with a Federal once fired case as I had been using once fired Win brass while loading the 135s. Here's a pic of the 147 positioned "in" the mouth of the brass after sizing and expanding at stations 1 & 2 using the same setup on the XL650 when doing the 135s. Again notice the lack of over belling but still allowing a stable placement of the bullet: A pic of the seated bullet to an OAL of 1.125": I immediately removed the round from the press (prior to crimping) and proceeded to pull the bullet. After a few knocks to free the bullet, there's also zero shaving on the 147gr: So, if your experiencing "shaved" bullets or unstable seating, IMO the DAA/MBF expander funnel might be worth a try. HR
  10. johnsons1480: Noticed that to prevent any shaving with 135/147gr 9mm coated lead bullets, a larger bell was definitely needed. Same requirements with 200gr coated SWC in 45acp. My biggest complaint was with the cases dragging while entering the mouth of the Redding Micrometer die during seating. Had a great discussion with "razorfish" after seeing his video of loading with the Mr. Bullet Feeder, and he highly recommended the DAA/MBF powder funnel for case expansion. I purchased one, and after getting it set up per the MBF installation video, have to say I should have done this a long time ago! It truly makes sitting the bullet down into the case a simple process vs sitting it on the belled mouth and hoping it stayed aligned during seating. And, by not having such a "bowl" shape to the case mouth, there's no scraping/dragging of the case mouth during entry to the Redding Micro seater. Also pulled several of my test rounds, and noticed there was zero scraping of the bullet or coating during seating. This was loading the 135gr Bayou's; but I feel confident it will work just as well with the 147gr. Am also ordering the MBF funnel for the 45acp setup. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
  11. This may be helpful with the 135 Bayous in a Glock 34. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=197079&hl= ETA, this one too http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=202245&hl=%2Bbayou+%2B135#entry2246613 Both links are very helpful! THANK YOU!!
  12. Trust me, these Glocks can easily drive one crazy searching for that "perfect load"! Hopefully, all this test time will eventually pay off. And, I do enjoy the challenge. But decent testing weather is going to fade quickly with winter approaching. Again, appreciate your feedback!!
  13. RR: Will do. Feedback is TRULY APPRECIATED!
  14. Lu: Curious as to how good your accuracy really is....any group measurements? What OAL? Thanks!
  15. IMO, depends on the gun your shooting...... Been doing a lot of 9mm testing for a G17G4, and the Bayou's are showing comparable accuracy vs. the Zero JHPs. Getting 3"-4" @ 25yds from a rest is about the best I've come up with using N320 at various powder/bullet weights and OALs. OTOH, using N320/Bayou 200g SWC out of the Springfield 1911 RO yielded just a tad over 2.5" @ 25yds with first loads I tested. Maybe not apples to apples comparison; but I feel some guns will automatically yield higher accuracy with either FMJ or lead/coated.
  16. RR: Finally got a chance to bench rest/test the N320/Bayou 135 combo. Tried 3.6g & 3.7g @ 1.130 along with 3.6g & 3.7g @ 1.135. Seems my G17G4 preferred the 3.7g/1.135" combo, with the best 10-shot group producing this: Temp: 68* Avg: 991fps ES: 20 SD: 6 PF: 133.79 Hope to load a few more for further testing/sight adjustment. Thinking this type of grouping is about as good as it's going to get for a stock barrel...... Thanks for your recommendations! HR
  17. I'll vary the OAL a bit and report back once I've had a chance to test. Thanks again!
  18. I'll start with 3.6 for my G17..... and always Chrono working up new loads! Thank you Sir.
  19. RR: Wondering if you still recommend your above load for a G17? Got 100 of the 135 Bayous to test with N320, as I can't hit on the consistent accuracy I'm after using the 147 Bayous. This would be a ~130PF GSSF load for my G17G4. Thanks!
  20. Have loaded right at 500 of the Bayou 147gr coated in the XL650; and once I got the bell set properly on initial setup, have not had any bullet shaving whatsoever. And, I seat and crimp with the Redding Micrometer dies. Any lead round will require a bit larger bell when compared to FMJ, etc..... HR
  21. Yea, if I was shooting a 3" plate at 25yds, I would have definitely had 3 mikes.....
  22. zzt: Finally got a chance to test some N320 with SnS 200gr coated SWC. This was 5.0gr at 1.250" OAL, and the best 10-shot group out of 3. 25yds off a Caldwell rest: Was very impressed with the accuracy out of my Springfield RO; though it was a little slow at 760fps. Think I'll bump it up to 5.2gr and see if I get close to 825fps. Yes, VV's load data is WAY OFF from what I expected!
  23. Candersen: Some may think the gain wasn't really substantial, but IMO, I was very pleased with the results. Here's a "test" load I was working on @ 25yds off a makeshift rest; first the stock, Glock barrel: And the same load through the Bar Sto: And, trust me the "flyers" were a result of my excitement!
