  1. I’ve been running 18” guns for most of my 3-gun life and they have been great but on the next build and probably all of them going foreword unless I plan on shooting beyond 600 a lot I will be moving to 16” barrels. Maybe 50fps difference on the heavy Bullets and that’s not going to mess up a stage more than my inability to get a stable shooting position.
  2. That’s a cool set up, I’m actually pretty impressed with this offering especially at that price. I think I saw one for under 600 for Black Friday, which is just nuts.
  3. Looks like it meets the requirement as long as you have the front strap of the pistol above the belt and position it correctly.
  4. It’s wildcat tracker I was pretty sold on the island barrel after I first saw one shoot in person but I always wondered why nobody made a sight block version especially with how STI had the trubor barrels that were a machined one price barrel and comp, a blank short comp would be perfect for a sight block, no timing needed, no set screw or locktite. Now after getting to handle and see someone shoot a nemesis I’m fully on the sight block bandwagon.
  5. Has anyone tried the alpha x pouches with the single stack insert? I like how they position the mags a little further away from your body but that’s a bit steep if I have to buy 5-6 of them
  6. I have 2 of each and my only mags that I trust in 40 are the gen 2’s with grams follower and TTI bases. The gen 1’s are decent but I occasionally get a round that will fail to feed getting jammed tipped up and a little bump on the slide sends it home. The MBX I wouldn’t trust in a match ever again, at nationals after a reload to the MBX I basically had a bolt action pistol, day 1 stage one I spent about 10 seconds clearing a malfunction caused by the mbx mag. Quit using them and only had one problem after that on a gen 1 shooting weakhand. Gen 2’s just seem to work edit to add: the mag catch notch on my 2 mbx mags sits noticeably higher than the STI mags which makes the mag sit lower in the frame, the consensus of the other people on the squad I talked to about it thought this might be the biggest part of the problem but it may also be a feed lip or follower issue too.
  7. Don’t tell limcat.... they might disagree
  8. What’s your reasoning for this? I don’t see a problem with having a pistol you buy with the mindset that it won’t be sold whether or not you still shoot the division in the future.
  9. Atlas was in the top 3 since it did check all the boxes and all of the ones I checked out were really nice and had I not found that Wilson combat does custom guns they would probably have gotten my business. Also, what I mean by a forever gun is just a gun that I won’t ever sell, not that I won’t ever shoot another division. I may end up getting back into open or limited and, as I said earlier, I usually perform better in limited as well as classifying better it’s just not as fun as single stack or as challenging.
  10. I think you have that backwards, and check what Cindy looks like now and you’ll see why you wait for the right one. And as I said earlier I have a gun that is the STI version of that akai and it would put me further benhid on getting what I really want if I were to buy it. If it had the range master frame and tri-top that would be an entirely different story.
  11. Hence thinning out the stable, it gets more affordable the more of them that get re-homed
  12. For sure, it’s probably more that I’m going to need, but it’s always nice to have. Also I’m going from a gun that on my best day I pull 4” at 25 yards so a little extra accuracy will be appreciated. For reference I can get 3” at 25 yards with a p320 full size.
  13. I went back and forth, started in limited, went to revolver, then open, then back to limited and started to slow down until PCC got introduced and shot PCC for about a year then I picked up the STI hex tac in 9 and have been shooting single stack almost exclusively going on a year now, kinda sucks I tend classify better in limited most of the time but I like SS way more so here I am. The single stack challenge is a lot of fun especially when I pull off an upset and beat a PCC or limited gun at a local match
  14. https://www.shootersconnectionstore.com/Shooters-Connection-Tournament-Series-Shooting-Bag-PRO-II-P4512.aspx this is what I use, It fits perfectly in my travel case and I use the mag sections for tools and my mag brush at the range and the other side pocket is where I put a mag sleeve with all my mags. And the inside had a good center section that fits my parts kit and a few boxes of ammo and my eyes and ears then I use a pistol sleeve that fits in the center section side partitions. It’s the perfect size for a single gun bag
  15. I think that pretty well settles it, unless I come across an inheritance I didn’t know about in the next 6 months Mr Wilson is gong to be getting a call.
  16. Very nice, too bad they don’t do the tac frame, probably doesn’t make as much of a difference as I think it does, just a preference.
  17. I wonder why they don’t just say no, also I found it odd that they don’t really have a price per options list like a lot of other builders just some behind the scenes voodoo then a number. That said, the guy I talked to on the phone was super nice and talked through some of the options that I picked and how they may not work within the USPSA or ipsc rules. Still didn’t prevent the sticker shock though. Haha
  18. Lots of stories of guns making the 50 to 60k mark, I figure that’s worth the custom price
  19. There’s a guy up here that’s been rocking a cqb for 10+ years and has in the neighborhood of 100k on it and that’s the main reason I even looked into them.
  20. Believe me I’ve been eyeballing this hard, the Trojan will be a good place holder til I get the custom going.
  21. Guess I should have specified I’m wanting it in 40, and the only thing they won’t do is tri-top the slide which isn’t a deal breaker, odd though since they do it on the edc x9. And the plan is to sell a couple limited guns and an open shotgun to fund the majority of the build so I’m about half way there. I have been running a STI hex tac in 9 for the last year or so and enjoy it but I am wanting to shoot major so I’d like to go ahead and make the investment for a forever gun. I’ve been running second/third hand guns for the majority of my shooting career and they haven’t ever let me down and I’ve secured a used Trojan for now while I wait and save up for the custom build and then it will become my back up. I originally wanted to go full Gucci and get a svi built but they don’t do a heavy or light rail dust cover and they were considerably higher than the other builders highest priced SS guns, which amounted to essentially the cost of the Trojan and 10 Tripp system mags.
  22. He didn’t say brand new SVI. And on another note, a guy up here did just buy a brand new SVI and he paid a couple hundred more than what a new nemesis costs and it came with 4 mags. And it was a tracker with two magwells fitted, and some other spare fitted parts. Although the slide cuts and what not were very plain and it is blued it’s still a SVI with some extras and 4 mags for under 6k For contrast I just recently got a gun builder quote for a single stack with what I considered to be just a couple fancy features and I was quoted $6,800. Yikes
  23. I am wanting to go full tilt in single stack and get a custom gun built or at least a high end pistol that I can really feel confident about putting 50k+ rounds through and that will have the support to keep it running even longer than that should something fail. Of all the builders/shops that I have priced out or looked at their options I found that Wilson combat has all but one thing I want and their right in the lower middle of the price spectrum. With their longevity, quality and service I am having a hard time thinking of a reason not to go with them. Anyone have a good argument not to just go for it and get a custom shop Wilson made?
