  1. That reply broke me up!
  2. Remember: It's only funny until someone gets hurt; then it's hilarious!
  3. Actually your description was very clear and well done. With previous help from Brian's book, I found my natural point of aim was good. The reverse engineering was helpful in "locking in" the motion of the gun and the arms. I just wanted to clarify that I was using the correct eye focus between front sight and target.
  4. I finally got (took) the time to try the all of things you suggested here. When bringing the gun forward in the draw (not reverse) am I right in thinking that your dominant eye is focused on the target and picks up the front sight as it becomes visible? (As opposed to looking down for it early in the draw). Now, keeping both hands on the gun, bring the gun straight back toward your body...all the while keeping a focus on the front sight. For me (I am right handed and right eyed) as I pull the gun back with both hands, when I get to a point where the inside of my right forearm is touching my chest, the gun has naturally lowered by about 6 inches or so (because I still have both hands on it). The gun is still (generally) pointed toward the target. The muzzle is mostly level. The gun, in relation to my body, is lined up under my dominant eye.
  5. Another Mustang here. Could be worse.
  6. +1 While in the year and half I have shot my classifier scores haven't progressed "B-A-M-GM"; it is a real motivator for me to see these go up as well as seeing my match placing improve. On the other hand, winning a trophy in class is often statistical quirk. Somewhat like winning the lottery. However I haven't thrown away any of the trophies either. The classifier system and prize distribution are really two separate issues.
  7. I recently bought some EarPro EP-3 Sonic Defenders from Sure Fire. They are in-the-ear hearing protection. The claim is that normal speech and sound is unaffected but that no sounds over 80 db will pass through the filter. The cost is quite reasonable, $9.95 plus shipping. Unfortunately they were completely ineffective for me. Anyone else have either positive or negative experience with these?
  8. joseywales- Thanks for the research. Much of that could be surmised but it is interesting reading. Like many of us, my wife thinks I am already sponsored...by her.
  9. Gum Chewing is a non-factor for me. Sometimes I have it in my mouth and sometimes not. I always tuck it in my cheek just before LAMR.
  10. Thanks for that bit of information. I knew that RU times were faster than real time but didn't worry about it. It is good to know exactly what is going on.
  11. You don't really believe anyone can be competitive in Limited with this type of set-up do you?
  12. Yes. I think of this as trigger prep. I shoot a lot of Glock and some revolver. You can use 1/2 of the draw as prep time. I mentioned Manny Bragg because he is a strong advocate of trigger preparation and his class really helped me with this. He has some good ideas about incorporating this in dry fire.
  13. Be sure not to fall in the trap of jerking the trigger. I certainly did. Began to see lots of speed (on a relative basis) but too many shots that were low and left. Those with better fundamentals would probably avoid this. A class with Manny has done much to straighten me out.
  14. I know this sounds trite but...At the club level the only person you can cheat is yourself. When you attend a State or higher level match you are found out.
  15. This should be posted at every larger match. Maybe every stage.
  16. I haven't had the opportunity to whip a fellow shooter with the neck lanyard yet but I like it when I am practicing by myself. (Just to hold the timer; not to whip myself).
  17. I also teach at a high school. I got blocked from a restaurant menu I was trying to access for a school field trip. (Cross my heart this is true.) I figure it was the chicken breast.
  18. I would also be interested in this and approximate cost per thousand.

    Cows With Guns

This is the funniest thing I have seen since Merlin Orr's last joke (each time). Merlin's are always great. I have just about reposted: "Father, it's me, Sister Katherine," she replied. several times just to see it again. I know I would get the dreaded "Do a search!" comment but it might be worth it.
  20. I am very happy with my CED 7000. The small size makes it really handy to practice with.

    Wrong Bra Size

You know there is a problem when your wife/girlfriend's bra size is 38 long.
