  1. I don't run an extra-large bag, and in fact I tend to go with a smaller bag and let stuff hang off. If my ear muffs won't fit inside due to too much other crap I just hook them around the handles for example. I also don't put spent brass in the bag but have a separate mesh bottom brass bag that clips on my main bag. More crap not in the range bag and the jostling about knocks out most of the crap before I get back to the car.
  2. Thank is a nice option at an attractive price, if they offered one for the 5.25. I see they show it for the XD Tactical (5"), I wonder how it would fit and how much barrel would stick out. I see they offer holsters for the G34/35, they need to quit snubbing the XDm 5.25.
  3. There are several Molle attached multiple rifle & pistol mag carriers out there. Just saw this one today: http://www.lapolicegear.com/tag-mspe-pouch.html I have never used one nor do I know anything about this partiular carrier, it is just an example of something I think meets your needs. I have also seen them with flaps over the pistol mags which I think I like a little better.
  4. Just to save step here are a couple of links: Standard thumbreak strap version: http://shop.blade-tech.com/level-duty-holster-c-1_4_5.html Level two thumb release: http://shop.blade-tech.com/level-duty-holster-c-1_4_7.html They are both kind of pricey.
  5. I am planning on trying some 124 grain from Freedom soon. You have to watch the Federal bulk packs at WalMart, they are not always such a good deal. I have bought individual boxes cheaper than they come in the 100 count pack. We recently had Dick's open locally and I have caught shotgun shells there pretty cheap. Bought some 1 oz. RIO I will use on the Skeet range to save my 1 1/8 oz. loads for 3-Gun and some Remington that is a little higher velocity than the cheaper stuff and I will use it at my one "Major" 3-gun match this year.
  6. I have not shot any Tula but have shot a lot of Wolf and while it has never caused an issue in my rifles I have seen it stuck in others (and helped beat it out). I have run the steel cased at classes where I could not police brass and to save a few bucks but would not run it in a match. With bulk 5.56 coming back I probably will not buy anymore steel cased ammo.
  7. I didn't bother to check just now (Just woke up), but I'm pretty sure the 550 is over $100 more than a SqDB?? The price difference is in the small print "without caliber conversion" the 550B is much cheaper that way than complete and ready to go (with shell plate and dies, that I already have for everything I would load.) And thanks to those that mentioned the smaller window on the SDB, as I had never loaded on a SDB I had not thought about that. I am a pretty ham-fisted fellow myself and will have to look at that. I am kind of hoping my daughter might get real excited about shooting someday (she is just 10 now) and the SDB would be a nice machine for her. "Hey kid, go load your own ammo"
  8. No, and "we" XDm lovers/shooters need to be mad as hell about the lack of respect in the market for "our" gun. And while you are at it, I want a .22 conversion!
  9. We had that guy, he had a Trijicon mounted on the back of a Glock 19, his carry gun. He carried it in an IWB holster and competed with us for over a year in Open minor. He finally bought another 19 and holster and is running Production. Guess he gave up waiting for a new division.
  10. Always a great topic, and one that with the new Revolver rules can be applied to another division. My simple thoughts are what is your "primary" division? If it is Production than SS minor would seem like a natuaral fit (10 rounds in each). Same thing with ammo, if you shoot primarily 9mm, like in Production, than run SS minor 9. If maybe Limited is your bag, then run .40 major in SS. I was shooting SS with a .45 and doing OK for me. I built a 9mm 1911 because I already had one (9X23 /.39 Super) I could convert easily and wanted to "standarize" and simplify my ammo situation since I shoot USPSA, 3-Gun, and NRA Action Pistol and 9mm makes the most sense.
  11. I did have fun...unfortunately the match I attended I was the only SS. Not sure there is a way to rank myself against the rest. Everyone else (about 30-35 shooters) played in the other divisions It is always fun to see how many Production shooters, etc. you can beat running a "Limited Eight" gun. : )
  12. I have been running a 550B for a llloooonnnggg time (tens of thousands of rounds) and like it A LOT. I may have a chance to pick up a cheap and unloved Square Deal B set up for 9mm from a local bud. It seems like a nice idea to have a machine set up just for 9mm as quantity wise I can or will shoot as much of it as everything else combined. Anybody run both? How strange is it for a dedicated 550 user to get used to a Square Deal? Interestingly, as I just checked, a new 550B without caliber conversion is only $15 more than a new Square Deal B and would be the way to go if money was no object and I just wanted another machine. And no, I am not interested in buying, or even hearing about how I need a 650 or 1050. ; )
  13. A previous poster nailed it: XDM 5.25 in .40. I bought one and shot Production .40 minor pf loads and liked it a lot. .40 minor is good stuff. I recently added a mag well and 140mm mag extensions and run major pf loads in Limited and minor pf loads in 3-Gun. I could also use this gun in Limited 10 if I wanted to. When (not if) I get blind enough to want a dot I will add one and run this gun in Open with the longer 170mm extensions. I do not really care that by running .40 S&W I will be giving up a few rounds to the 9mm/.38 super-duper guys or that I am not passing enough gas to properly optimize an ear drum splitting compensator I will not have anyway. Yes, I cannot run single stack or revolver, but can be pretty competitive (as much as I can anyway) with this rig.
  14. If the ingenuity, engineering, and energy that 3-Gunners put into figuring out how to carry and load shotgun shells was applied to man’s other problems, there just would not be any other problems!
  15. After 20 plus years of running my 550B my left thumb automatically calibrates the shell plate timing each time I load. Don't even have to think about it. ; ) The Dillion timing issue as I understand it is sometimes my right hand pulling the handle gets ahead of my left holding the bullet and I do not get out of the way before almost getting mashed fingers. Maybe I need to call Dillion Customer Service about this issue?
  16. I don't see much point to the proposed new divisions. More rounds in Production (Production 15), maybe, but not really even there. Just shoot Limited and be done if that is your thing. Limited Minor PF if you have to. That is what I do sometimes to get some USPSA time with my 3-Gun pistola (for a couple of months before a big 3-Gun match). As to Production Optics, just shoot Open, that is what I plan on doing. When I get too blind to shoot irons (which looks like will be pretty soon) I will slap an optic on my XDm .40 5.25 or 4.5 and go to town. In addition to the eys growing increasingly dim I am not so fleet of foot that I will not have time to swap mags somewhere along the course so the reduced round count of .40 over 9mm/.38Super should not be too big an issue.
  17. Thanks for the update, I suspected that but am still surprised that is the answer. I would have been even more surprised if you soemhow had a seater ONLY die in a 3 die set. I would think that would have been a very special and odd thing.
  18. Really, really nice. Just how does the latch holding it in the upright position work? "J" bolt & wing nut?
  19. I use a sleeve with the shells under my (left) forearm so I can just reach under with my right (stong) hand and pluck them out and shove them in. This for tight places (like the back of the Suburban at TFG3G last year) or a couple of Oh-S**t! shells. I also have a cheap two shell (vertical) holder on my belt in front of the pistol on my right for a couple of slugs or Oh-S**t! shells. Lots of ways to skin this cat, whatever works for you!
  20. Nothing to see here, move along. When in Rome, crack that stack-barrel open and rest it over your shoulder, no harm no foul. Semi-auto? Better be bolt back and you are shooting with a group that is comfortable with you (and you them).
  21. And of course looking good is half the battle!
  22. Hmmm, slap a little JB Weld on that and get back in the game. Seriously though, glad you are OK and hope things work out with your gun. Keep us informed.
  23. I just got a batch of the 135 Bayou Bullets. I had been shooting 124 grain TC from Missouri but was getting a little leading in my SS minor 9mm 1911. Since I was loading the 124s out a little for reliable feeding in the 1911 I figured I might as well move up to 135 at the same length and get a little more "whomp" on steel. I have only shot a few for function but they seem to be fine for accuracy as well out of both my 1911 and XDm. I hope they also work well in my Browning HP but have not tried them yet.
  24. Two guys thinking about starting is "tangible positive movement"?
